  1. Think you'll find Webber was also behind the links to South America...not just the scouting of players. City announce new club partnership with Coritiba - Norwich City (canaries.co.uk)
  2. I wonder how much credit Webber will get for forging such links with South America now?
  3. Needs a Kellen Fisher for that to happen. Remember, Fisher's performances in pre-season were what convinced Wagner that Mumba could be sold.
  4. Scored another belter today - similar to Sara's goal except he slotted it in at the near stick. Bolton 1 - 1 Portsmth - Match Report & Highlights (skysports.com)
  5. Rowe should be the impact sub and Sara's better coming off the flank in that Buendia-esque position. That said, where's Kamara going to fit next season?
  6. Keeper definitely got caught in two minds on that. He's even raised the heel on his right foot as Sara shoots so you'd think he'd be able to move it across to block, but he's half gone down instead and realised too late.
  7. And breathe! If we're going to be critical of dropping a two-goal lead to Sheffield Wednesday, then you have to say the lads deserve full credit for gutting this one out today against a very tough Preston side on their home turf.
  8. Que Sara, Sara Whatever will be, will be We might get to Wem-ber-lee, Que Sara, Sara....
  9. Angus needs to get his dad to tell him how the heck to come out on crosses. Hull are three-up now, but you've got to say, their run-in is tough and this QPR match is comfortably the easiest one they have; three of their last four games are away (Watford, Coventry and Plymouth) and at home to Ipswich.
  10. Sunderland have just taken the lead against 10-men WBA. If we could sneak a win here and Sunderland stay ahead, that drags WBA into the mixer as well.
  11. Crikey, this is a quiet match thread. I know the game against these at home was not exactly one of the most exciting games we've seen in years.... Still, 0-0 at the break and competing well.
  12. Always nice to see a bit of niggle now and again. McCallum went in nicely there.
  13. Coventry losing, Hull winning, and Middlesborough have just taken the lead.
  14. The conclusion I'd draw from this is that the perpetrator is a funking end of a bell. After that, it's all about waiting for the police findings.
  15. Gotta be honest, if you offered me a draw right now, I'd absolutely rip your hand off.
  16. I called someone Louise because they'd been to Louisiana. 😉
  17. Could probably agree with the notion of investment in such as being ethically dubious, I actually wonder if this is increasingly an argument for renationalising the energy sector with fundamentally similar arguments as for doing so with water.
  18. Well said, focusing on demand when the supply isn't there is basically a prime example of not doing your internal marketing/preparation beforehand.
  19. A peak Hanley was fast over the ground and formidable in the air. He was prone to the odd lapse in concentration and was at best only a passing acquaintance with the niceties of keeping the ball down/moving, but at his physical peak was a proper old-school defender who could be relied upon to put his head in where it hurts. And if he had better concentration and was a bit better with the ball at his feet, there's no way he'd have been with us. This year's Hanley reminds me of Klose's final days here - you can see the wheels turning, but the body's not quite letting him do it. But he served us very well.
  20. Reminds me of my favourite half-marathon, namely Polmaraton Praski in Warsaw, Poland. Last two years I've done it they've had non-alcoholic beer and said it's isotonic to try and market it to the sports set. Think I saw something similar in either Dresden or the Spreewald too when racing there. Wasn't bad either. Ran a half-marathon after necking a can of it. Think it was alcohol-free Zywiec. That said, I've never been much of a drinker at all - never been drunk in my life. 99 times out of 100, if it's not an ice-cold Jever or Weihenstephaner, I'm not drinking it. EDIT: Agree with @Nuff Said re. decaffeinated coffee or indeed tea. Can't drink that stuff. Although I prefer black tea with milk and Earl Grey neat.
  21. What's this about Leeds and Leicester wobbling a bit? I haven't heard this??
  22. Speaking of comfort food, I'm really pleased with how my soljanka recipe works now, and it totally works better with at least two different types of sausage in there instead of one. 🙂 Had to prepare it with smoked tofu as the protein source when two of Miss TGS's friends came over as one was vegan. Couldn't put Worcester sauce in there either so ended up making a larger pan with the usual recipe and that slightly amended one for the vegan friend. (For those who don't know, soljanka is an Eastern European sour soup, usually with sausage, peppers, onions and gherkins. I make mine with tomato passata as the base and sour it with the brine from the pickles - traditionally in Eastern Germany this will be finished with sour cream, but I prefer to use lime or lemon juice). EDIT: I vaguely remember doing one with smoked frankfurters, kabanosy AND chorizo. That should work superbly when reheated, but chorizo wanders well away from its east German/eastern European origins a bit, even though soljanka was a soup that was often used to clear the fridge.
