  1. That's fair though I still disagree. I think his performance warrants a 9 but we should rate his prospects as "10". The problem is that if you get 10 for beating up an out of shape Bournemouth, what happens if he does "just ok" in PL? A one match wonder? That can mess with a young players' mind. The risk with these young guns are hyperinflating expectations which lead to unnecessary disappointments, and you spend a year trying to balance potential with reality like with Idah. You have a point, but aren't you worried that blowing this performance out of all proportions could backfire if things don't work out as well against PL tier opponents? I'm sort of seeing a scenario where he'll be "found out" by top tier opposition and suddenly he doesn't look superhuman. We need to give him time. Remember Gilmour was hyped to the Moon after Scotland's game against England and and now we're not sure he even starts for us. I mean he is fantastic going forward but lacks toughness and experience to defend. Expectations must be checked against reality. OK, After raining on this parade I need to confess that it is really hard to not get swept up by the excitement. It was the perfect game to clear the ManC disappointment and Tzolis was key to it. I hope he starts against Leicester. After that match we'll be a lot wiser.
  2. Great start. That said, quality of opposition was poor. Remember Idah's hat trick? How he was going to replace Teemu in short order? Or Teemu's hat trick against Newcastle in 2019? He was even player of the month in PL. What happened? Paddy David's 10/10 rating is rather symptomatic of ignoring context in favor of hopes and dreams. Let's start him against Leicester and see how he does in PL. I rate a solid turn in that game more than his 4 goals involvements against Bournemouth.
  3. 30 goal involvements last season. One less than his age. Can't blame him too much for not getting any service. Rashica needs to find him or we need to find someone who can. I am not joking.
  4. I don't care if they lost 10 - 0 as long as they are consistent within a match. If they repeatedly start collapsing under pressure within games they are otherwise competitive in paralleling 19/20, it would speak of more serious issues. Then we can start discussing Farke's future in the club.
  5. Lakey's take is fair I think. We can expect McLean to recover and leave Gilmour a bit less exposed. Rashica was a bit of a meathead, but I like his energy. If he doesn't start getting Teemu's positioning and timing however, we are in trouble. Teemu needs to understand that if his teammates don't supply him with the ball, he needs to go get it himself and like, try dribbling the whole field atleast once. And he needs to stop slipping like dry grass was a banana peel.
  6. Sign me up! e: Let me sum it up too: It was a lackluster performance for a friendly from Norwich. It would've been a total waste of time but for two reasons: Bali Mumba is the real deal and Rashica proved that making questionable decisions and mistakes repeatedly can be in your favor if you do them all over the bloody field. Holy s*** that man was everywhere. Brawling. Like nobody told him he was supposed to jog politely so the opponents can prove a point.
  7. He played because part of becoming fit is to play. He is indispensable. He was not ineffective. This is Liverpool's defence remember. Even a recovering Van Dijk is one of the best CBs in the world. Teemu looked good in the 1st half and he'll be fit in a few games. Sargent and Idah could have been brought in a bit earlier. Wouldn't have impacted the outcome much.
  8. Just point an 8K 60 fps camera at the stands and see whose mouth is moving in sync with the chant. Then crowdsource their identities by posting the worst offenders in FB and Twitter, after forcing Liverpool to play for empty stands. This could be expanded to all clubs. I guarantee there will not be a squeak out of even the most degenerate.
  9. So apparently the boffins here have determined that after losing 0 - 3 the problem was we didn't score enough. And were particularily taken by the energy Idah and Josh brought on field. Almost like they were fresh off the bench... Seriously though, Emi seemed to struggle a bit with AV. Perhaps Villa would be interested in signing Teemu so Emi has someone he can pass the ball to? It is something worth thinking about while we can get anything for him. Perhaps loan him to Villa? Then run out the contract so he can retire in Bundesliga.
  10. He gets hate because it's a meme. Every team needs a scapegoat and Lucas fits the role because McLean wasn't playing. Tettey has often turned in a shift as collective whipping boy, ditto for Grant Hanley. Now that said Lucas' attempts from far were lackluster and make him an easy target. I'd say attacks on these players is inversely correlated with understanding of the game in general. e. forgot Zimmerman. Now HE gets hate. Hugill has that one stalker hater who preys these forums too, can't remember his name.
  11. What are you talking about? Arsenal and Villa lost. 🙃
  12. I like Rupp. He offers a lot, but not in a specific role. He is versatile and he's got a good brain. I think it's his physicality that is not quite PL tier. I always considered him an insurance policy kind of guy who can hold up the fort in number of midfield roles. Anyway, we need defensive reinforcement and focusing on areas that aren't strong as opposed to areas where we are really struggling is something we can't afford.
  13. We ran out of gas. Half the squad is recovering from Covid. Look at 1st half performance. It was solid.
  14. This is not a bad performance. Need more fitness. New guys haven't settled in. Defence needs reinforcing. Webber needs to pony up for a serious CB.
  15. Team is looking sharp! Teemu, Todd, Max, Pierre, Milos, Gibson looking good. Gilmour too. Defence a bit shaky, but not terrible. Bad luck goal, preceded by bad call from ref. Todd, Teemu, Max and Pierre, and Krul stand out. Rashica missed one run by Teemu badly. Needs to sharpen there.
  16. Calm down. You seem to think that the options available are either no fun allowed or anything goes. This is not true. We have good tools at our disposal of which vaccines are one. See below for a partial list*. All of those measures and many others are used in various forms all over the world. The problem is that they are not implemented consistently and they are often used in place of eachother instead of at the same time. There is I think a huge natural impulse towards "THE CURE", so things can return to how we think society should be like. It is natural to be angry towards those who undermine that impulse by providing information that runs counter to that hope. The problem is that denialism will make it more likely for bad things to happen. Being careful will make bad outcomes less likely to happen. Better have most of the fun all of the time than all of the fun some of the time. *Universal FFP2 mask mandate, rapid antigen testing at home, effective testing & tracing, increasing ventilation combined with CO2 meters and ail filtration with HEPA filters, adopting distance working/schooling as part of normal functioning of society (e.g. 3-4 days in and 1-2 ways out), giving people accurate and evidence based information as opposed to telling them things that politicians and officials want to tell them, promoting economic activity that is less risky (outdoor activities, construction etc) and disincentivizing (not necessarily banning) activities with large negative externalities (jam packed clubs and concerts...basically anything with alcohol involved), etc etc.
  17. Recurring jabs here won't matter much if we get hit by variant that evades immunity. Such variant almost certainly would develop in poor countries with huge populations with partial immunity. Not a coincidence delta originated from India. Hence it would be important to suppress covid in those countries and vaccines will give them window of opportunity to do that.
  18. Florida: 62% partially and 52% fully vaxxed. https://data.democratandchronicle.com/covid-19-vaccine-tracker/florida/12/ UK's vaccine coverage is much higher and citizens better informed. a different disease than earlier variants.
  19. I expect us to struggle. It'll probably be a lot less like the prancing start to 2019/20 and more like the slog of early 2020/21. A lot of young talent and quality players from abroad who aren't used to PL. They need time to adjust. Aborted pre-season and covid breakout. Rashica's fitness is unknown. Teemu will likely take a while to shake off the rust and improve fitness like last season. That one pre-season goal is going to pay dividends in maintaining faith. Instead of 12 points I am looking for serious improvement in various areas and the team starting to show extended periods of purposeful and fluid football. A psychological collapse would be a terrible sign. If we lose every single of the 10 matches but fight through every minute, I expect us to stay up. My primary concern is that mental coaching is again ignored by the club and Farke loses control of the team's psychology. If the team turns bipolar fragile snowflakes like in fall 2019, we are done.
  20. Come on.... He's very promising, but realistically he's scored a few in friendlies against lower tier opposition. I wouldn't declare a boxer the future heavyweight world champion for knocking out a featherweight amateur while full contact sparring. Idah is in competition for 2nd choice striker position. Teemu is simply on another level. He is arguably our best player.
  21. I'm looking at Josh Sargent's stats and I see a guy who has played a lot of minutes in Bundesliga and doesn't have major injury concerns. 20/21 season he featured in 32 matches and played for 2500+ minutes. You don't play a guy in Bundesliga for 2500+ minutes without a reason. There is no doubt in my mind that his total contribution is not captured by the obvious stats. It is obvious DF and SW like this guy. Without doing any further analysis on this, I'm going to say that if you want to take Teemu off @ 80 minute mark every match, and perhaps cover for his absence due to injury, you want reliability first and goal involvements second. There is also a possibility that due to Josh's youth, he hasn't found his optimal position on field. We think he's our back up CF. Farke may have other ideas.
  22. I think it's good to remember that there is a difference between a promising young player and a player who is "competition" for the centre-forward position. Adam is not competition for Pukki. There is not enough overlap in their strengths. And in any case, you are comparing a still developing young player to one of the best strikers in Norwich history. It is unfair. Much more productive would be to see Adam as a player in his own right who adds options to Daniel Farke's playbook, but the playbook is still very much centered on Teemu.
  23. Sorry to hear that. Hope you'll get better! A month after my very mild symptoms in April last year my resting HR was up to 110/min. Pulse was all over the place for 6 months. I recognise the fatigue too. Took me a year to perform a full week's work. Close to normal now. But I really can't stand anyone getting infected.
  24. Big guys need to be given more time to reach their potential I think. Idah is 20, but basically we should think of him like he was 19. I'm quite thrilled at his prospects. I admit I may have underestimated him, because I didn't take his physicality into account. The question is whether he takes that admittedly big step forward this season. We should give him benefit of doubt even if he struggles a bit. Keep up his confidence.
