  1. As you said, it's hardly a substantial amount of money in the scheme of things, is it? We know we had more money available in the summer as moves for that lad from Motherwell and the French lad both didn't happen. I think the summer business we did covered the positions we needed (except for a defender) but have just proven themselves to be poor signings.
  2. Yes a good point made about his career. I think what impressed me about Leitner is his ability to read a game. He was always a step or two ahead of everyone. Itā€™s a shame he isnā€™t quicker or stronger, because if so I suspect heā€™d be a valuable asset.
  3. That seems unfair to me. I think he was signed off the back of a very decent loan spell. Unfortunately, heā€™s never quite hit those same heights since that injury he had. Without doubt thereā€™s a great player in there. Sadly I donā€™t think weā€™re going to see it.
  4. A good question. I think we also have to take into account not just our progress, but RyBenā€™s progress too. Since leaving, heā€™s won the Championship and then been a fairly regular part of a side which has been rightly lauded. When he left I didnā€™t think we were missing out on much, but heā€™s absolutely proved me wrong. i do think, regardless of his past, heā€™s a better option than what weā€™ve got now and for that reason Iā€™d be happy to see him sign.
  5. Theyā€™ve done brilliantly this year. Will be very interesting to see how these new players fit in and how they do - I do think theyā€™ll see a dip in form at some point. But by then theyā€™ll be safe as houses, no doubt. Wilder most definitely deserves manager of the year - although theyā€™ll probably give it to Klopp. As for direct comparisons to us, you only need to look at Villa to once again see it isnā€™t how much, itā€™s who you bring in.
  6. Having just read the story on the Pink Un that he might be allowed to leave on loan, I'm wondering just what went wrong with a player who at one point looked the natural successor to James Maddison to a player who now can't get a look in?
  7. It's tough to "always look on the bright side" of Brexit when it represents such a major roll of the dice on behalf of a whole nation of people. I suspect the outcome will be of benefit to some areas of our life and a serious detriment to others. I don't think we will know exactly the effect for decades to come.
  8. Thankfully a suggestion rather than an actual link. Emi seems to be one of the best kept secrets in the Premier League. I'd have expected clubs to be crawling over him given his more recent form and statistics that show him to be one of the most creative players around. Seems strange to me.
  9. Ferguson out of contract in the summer. Hence WBAs low price demands.
  10. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/crystal-palace-transfer-news-nathan-ferguson-west-brom-roy-hodgson-a4348136.html%3famp Suspect we can put this one to bed now.
  11. They sound delightful fans! šŸ˜‚ Usually a good sign though, if fans are upset to lose a player.
  12. I see your point, ultimately we are lucky that the one silver lining to this season is if we don't want to sell, we really don't have to. We are lucky in that regard - it's not been often that NCFC have been in that position. I'm not sure I agree that clubs wouldn't offer more. January is a strange time, and I think the level of desperation some clubs reach in later January can spark some very strange moves. Andy Carroll to Liverpool jumps to mind. While I think Max is definitely the more saleable assets, I don't think Jamal is far off. If Palace did offer Ā£15m, I think it would be wrong to take it.

  14. Iā€™ll spell it out for you. Delia. Doesnā€™t. Take. Money. From. The. Club. The overall wage bill is none of her concern. Hope thatā€™s clear enough for you.
  15. Comments like this are a bit harsh. I think heā€™s a good player. Heā€™s also a player I can see David Moyes going for. I do think Ā£10m would be hard to turn down - but just canā€™t see it happening.
  16. The accounts are published every year. You can see for yourself, idiot.
  17. *Rolls eyes at another unsubstantiated and entirely untrue attack on Delia*
  18. Michael Bailey suggested on his podcast (I think) that Norwich had felt let down by his passing, saying they felt he wasnā€™t capable of being part of that build up play we build our philosophy around. If he goes, he leaves probably as the biggest transfer disappointment of the Webber era, IMO.
  19. These days you donā€™t pay money just for ability, but rather for what a player could become. Jamal was a key figure in a championship winning side. A regular international who has played in some massive fixtures. Crucially, only 22 years old, who could continue to improve if he remains in this division youā€™ve seemingly written him off from being able to compete in and be someoneā€™s left back for ten, fifteen years to come. More over, heā€™s very much under contract and our season In the Prem leaves us in a strong position not needing to sell. Max Aarons has had far less experience in the same defence and is regularly spoken about in the context of Ā£30m moves by all corners of the media. Itā€™s far from delusional to expect the club to sell its assets for top dollar. Ā£15m does not represent good value in todayā€™s market - I cant understand why or how you could disagree. Look at the cost of British full backs. Luke Shaw cost Utd Ā£30m. Wan-Bissaka cost Ā£45m. Andrew Robertson cost Liverpool Ā£8m from a Hull side selling anything not bolted to the floor to cover costs of relegation in a deal lauded as a bargain. Kieran Tierney Ā£25m to Arsenal. I absolutely would be asking for Ā£30m if I were Stuart Webber. Palace can afford it. I would expect, if we were truly interested in selling, a negotiation would ensue and would settle for a package worth around Ā£25m with all add ons and such like. Lets stop talking down our players and what they have achieved and start backing the club to get the best out of our players for once, whether that be on the field or leaving the club for the largest fee possible.
  20. What on earth has this got to do with a potential bid for Jamal Lewis?
  21. Absolutely 100% agree with this. Ā£15mil is an absolute snip for a player of Lewis' ability, age and potential.
