  1. Teams getting relegated always have some great players, often at a better price due to the relegation. When we got relegated in 2020 we still had Buendia, Aarons, Krul, Pukki etc. There's nothing inherently wrong with buying off teams near the bottom of a league.
  2. Like a lot of our players I feel like he's a case of 'not bad enough to single out and get rid of, and not good enough to say we must keep him', somewhere in between. I think his personality in the dressing room and on the pitch is probably pretty key, which might be why Smith always picks him.
  3. But we know he's good, because we've literally seen him be good.
  4. People keep repeating that Webber didn't try and replace Buendia. a) the best player we've had in a generation can't be replaced just like that, get real. Getting Buendia at that price was like winning the lottery b) we signed Rachica, who WAS his replacement surely? On paper looked he looked to have real potential - most people on here were really excited when we signed him
  5. I don't udnerstand why so many people want Rupp and Sargent out. Rupp is consistently decent when he's played for us this season, at least more so than others, and in the Champ he's even better (was one of our best last season before injury) and Sargent is way too young and too new to English football to give up on yet. In that Watford game he showed what a bit of confidence can do for him. Next season he could be massive. Like others have said, I wouldn't get rid of any of our youngsters, or anyone who has only had this season at the club - they've not had a fair test yet. Placheta and Dowell I don't think are quite good enough considering the chances they've had and wouldn't mind seeing them go.
  6. Surely it's possible that loans can benefit BOTH clubs? As has been eloquently said already, it's not just black and white. I'd rather us be in the Prem now than still in the Champ with a slightly improved Lungi.
  7. Calm down. He went down the tunnel and then shortly after came back to the bench and you think it's 'safe to say he's finished'?
  8. The fact that Webber met him before New York. i.e. as soon as possible, makes it look like as soon as he became available he became first choice. He only wasn't first choice when the decision over Farke was made because he wasn't available at that point. If Pep had been sacked by Man City last Sunday and we appointed him, I don't think people would be complaining that he wasn't our original first choice. So in that regard I'm not going to criticise the Board. I personally feel like it's a bit of a sideways step from Farke. Lampard seemed more exciting as a name, and i think he would have been a better prospect than lots on here seem to think, but as others have said, how long term would he have treated us?
  9. You talk like someone with no emotional connection to the game of football, in which case why do you bother with it?
  10. Do you understand the concept of 'inciting racial hatred'? It isn't simply words if it's creating an atmosphere that puts people at genuine risk. Look how instances of racism increased under Trump.
  11. The whole Kabak thing is tricky. I was and kinda still am furious at him for losing it there on Sunday, but at the same time when I watch us these days I'm always wishing we'd attack with more urgency and strike whilst the opposition is still high up the field, instead of all the back-passing allowing their defenders to regroup, so I don't know what to think. I suppose having 3 at the back meant he had more cover when he went forward? Also, those sort of turns to get round someone seem way to high risk.
  12. Byram seems to be back in training, I wonder if he's anywhere near taking the LB slot? Can't imagine throwing him into the current storm after so long out is going to work but surely he's a better shout than a CB. It is kinda crazy that neither Giannoulous or Williams are deemed 1st choice.
  13. Choosing a defensive formation is difficult when we've gone straight from 2 clean sheets to a 7-0 loss. 3 at the back obviously felt like an improvement for Burn and Brighton but now what? Like King C said, the gap between our midfielders and forwards seems vast.
  14. Mixed race people would be included in this, and any other list celebrating the achievements of people of colour.
  15. In my experience, people who admonish other people for 'seeing colour' are often the same people who struggle to 'see racism'.
  16. Some real legends on that list. Wierd to think though that a player like Efan Ekoku, who I really think of as a NCFC legend, only played 38 matches for us. About a 3rd as many as Stiepermann.
  17. On a forum with so many insults to chose from, this is the best one. I for one really hope Onel stays - it's quite sad seeing all the stalwarts of 18-19 going, feels a little like the 'soul' of the club takes a knock when so many new signings come in in one window, as necessary as it clearly is.
  18. Yep, this season's Spurs home shirt is literally blank. I hate that sort of design chocie way more than something a bit barmy like this Southampton one.
  19. I still persist with the 'Coca Cola cup' but no one knows what the hell I'm talking about. Speaking of old League Cup sponsors, can you still buy a pint of Worthingtons?
  20. I think the meaning behind it is more important than the aesthetics. That said, I like an out-there kit and think they should make it their home kit for the season.
  21. It would at least look like a football kit, not a training shirt.
  22. I believe they're 3rd shirts rather than away? I love both of them too (I have the refresher one, or the 'rugby' one as I call it).
  23. Our badge is yellow and green, not black and blue. Really bothers me... I think it would look amazing if it had our actual badge on it.
