1. It''s the AMC for me out of the three main cinema''s in Manchester. I have yet to see a City player there, but if I do, I''ll be sure to let you guys/girls know... : )
2. i saw my mate the other day he said he saw the blonde pele he goes my the name of huckerby huckerby
3. PS: for the record, I would happily have him back, I rated him then and I rate him now.
4. I vaguely recall that Gilks left under a bit of a storm, as he didn''t want to be the sweetener in the Hoolahan deal, or something. I''m sure there was a poster on here alluding to some disagreement or other in exactly how the deal between City, Blackpool and Gilks panned out. I''ll try scanning later for a link to the posting about it, if I remember... If anyone in the meantime can recall the situation, that would be reasurring to know I haven''t dreamt that up...
5. What chance is there of Mooney playing for Reading against us, in a similar fashion to Cureton against Barnsley..? That would be the icing on the top of what has been a wretched season for Lita and Mooney to start up front against us and help Reading to a win that condemns us.
6. Confidence added to desire will see even the most wretched of teams win some of their games. I personally see the problems being that as a team the players think they have confidence in one another, but in truth don''t believe this to be the case. The lack of desire would possibly stem from seeing other players under-performing and sub-consciously thinking: "Well if he''s not going to bother, why should I..?". On paper, the players and the squad as a whole is fairly decent. Sure, we lack bodies to cover for injuries, suspensions and loss of form which happen to all teams during a season, but when we were promoted to the Premiership we had a team that believed and trusted in one another, and no single player wanted to let his teammates down, and so went the extra mile to push the team on. In recent seasons, this has been increasingly drained from the team, and you get to a situation where the players have forgotten, or never knew the winning mentality aspect of being a player at Norwich. How this is rectified, I don''t know, but without the confidence, belief and desire, even the greatest collection of players would struggle to win the majority of games - for lack of a better example, Real Madrid at present time.
7. Re: Shackell, maybe the time away at Wolverhampton Wanderers has given him a fresh perspective and he''s improved because of leaving for the four or so months that he did. When he was here he was under the cosh so to speak with a fair few supporters who felt, rightly or wrongly, that he''d stalled in his development. The breathing space with having been out of the spotlight quite so much may have attributed to him improving his game and mental strength - remember that when he was here he was pretty much a shoe-in for the left centreback role, at Wolves he''s had to fight for a place, and Mick McCarthy has publicly stated that Shackell had gotten his head down and was working hard, albeit with limited success at breaking into the first team at Wolves. Improvements even ever so slightly, are still improvements.
8. Think this is the same ruling that did us when trying to keep Lita...
9. I hope it doesn''t come to it, but our goal difference could well be a saving grace come May-time, we''re 6 goals better off than the next best team around us with respect to goal difference, barring Watford, who in my opinion are free-falling. So that works a bit in our favour, coupled with the fact that at no point this season have we really ever gone on a run of victories unlike the teams around us, and in most seasons even the worst performing teams have a temporary show of form, so maybe we are due ours now. Could tie in nicely with the fact that teams around us have either had theirs or are having theirs but yet we''ve not been completely left behind in the dash for safety. I don''t envisage the next few weekends being easy or fun to sit through, but the omens aren''t completely against us jsut yet, even if we can''t get penalties when they''re initially awarded TO us.
10. Maybe Cody would be an option to send to Weymouth on loan for a month or so..?
11. Many happy returns - let''s all hope you get what you want...
12. Why does the takeover need to be hostile..? If you have funding available, negotiate a fair deal with Delia and Michael and buy the Club outright without causing on and off field disruption. If the money doesn''t stretch to buying them out, then invest heavily on the understanding that any additional investment further down the line increases ownership of the Club to yourselves, and buy the Club over the course of the medium or long term. Hostility will, in my humble opinion, prove to be a hugely negative influence on the team and Club as a whole, and will seal our demise to League One. So in short - if you''ve got the cash, put it on the table and deal like the business men you suggest you are. If you don''t have the cash, or not enough, then you need to cut your cloth accordingly and see what other avenues your limited budget will permit. Making the assumption, through my own interpretation of your various postings on the issue, that everyday football supporters of our fine Club will do your dirty work to seal the deal in your favour smacks of desperation and I find to be quite a disgusting propersition. Norwich City supporters deserve better than we have got over recent years, and as of yet you''ve offered no evidence of better times ahead other than the ''celebrity'' who''ll be in charge won''t be a chef, but instead: an ex-player. A lot of people criticise the board for being naive with regards to footballing matters, and I find it hard to imagine many ex-players who could walk into the positon of Chairman, or CE and do a better job from the off... Convince me further or accept that I, as a content-for-now fence-sitter want no part of your holey plans...
13. Rosario vs Southampton (match ended 4-4) Fleck vs Millwall (match ended 2-1 ?) Goss vs Bayern Munich (match ended 2-1) Huckerby vs Birmingham (match ended 1-0) Goss vs Leeds (match ended 4-0)
14. Hmmm, the difference looks to be 3 good goals from where I''m sat...
15.
It''s another loan, she isnt just giving it to us. No doubt she intends to convert it into shares to increase her majority control and attempt to get her grubby hands on more of Cullum''s hard-earned millions that should be invested into the team. Of course team investment if a foreign concept to the chef from Hell....
I love the implication here that Cullum''s millions have been hard earnt, and therefore that Delia''s haven''t... And I''d imagine a cook''s hands would be fairly clean, wouldn''t you? Whilst I agree that the £2m is only a loan, it''s still an amount of money from her own pocket - how deep Canary Wundaboy are your own pockets..?
16. Got a Coventry City as well as a Manchester City for housemates - I''l try and drag them both down...
17. and I may or maybe not wearing my 2008-09 kit with ''Anderz'' emblazoned across my back... Depending upon how busy it is and how welcoming the locals are...
18. Possibly more tomorrow as isn''t there usually a press conference of sorts on Thursday during the season..? With players returning for pre-season training, I''d imagine there will be something tomorrow, even if only the presentation of Clingan and Hoolahan...
19. Manchester United released four players (youth players I think...) in the last few days - maybe it''s one or some of them..? Like Ryan says, trials are not a new thing, and happen a lot. The one''s that go unnoticed are invariably the one''s that amount to nothing and the player/s disappear off to trial with other Clubs. No news is therefore not necessarily bad news...
20. A very interesting post, and one with a lot of depth and insight. Beats the one''s that are dismissive or gushy when simply based on FM or Prov Evo/Wikipedia stats. Any further info gratefully received Ryank.
