  1. Promotion is the absolute priority? 100% yes at this point in our campaign. We are on a roll, the team spirit is superb, we are getting the rub of the green and right now we have an excellent team. Irrespective of how well equipped we are? We have strength in depth, a manager who can adapt as the games come in, and during games. We have a young expansive ball playing squad, one of our best I have seen in terms of team balance and individuals. There is no reason to suppose if we were fortunate to be promoted that we would not do well, relatively speaking of course. Lessons learnt from the last seven years? Take every opportunity that comes. It is folly to suggest we would be better off staying in this division to gain experience or remain until the 'time is right', just ask that shower down the road how that looks. There are definitely lessons to be learnt agreed, but not availing ourselves to mid term financial stability is certainly not one of them. My point I made earlier was not really about promotion though. It was being more secure in the upcoming games with our best and most experience central defender available. Promotion? Well that would be a nice outcome certainly
  2. Earlier this season, the seat of the chap who sits next to me was taken up by another man. This individual decided to give us all a full on running commentary on the game, describing the obvious pass (in his opinion mind) before it happened and explaining (in full) why a move broke down or failed in a goal. It was soooooooooooooo annoying for the usual crowd, it actually became very funny (for a one game comedy moment only). and I had to stop my self laughing out loud. Fortunately I have not seen him since and did not have the heart to ask my neighbour if he knew him and lent him the ticket.
  3. Ha ha TIL. Now we all know the best fans sit near the Directors box 😉 Very funny 😂. Probably the answer to this whole post
  4. Ha ha, I'd rather have an 'expert' giving loud constructive (or not ) comments (without booing of course) than those types who will sit the entire game without even unfolding arms to clap just once. Even when surrounded by others trying to encourage and create an atmosphere. Display again looked good from our end. I'm hoping it will spread across the Barclay in time for that lot. Would be an impressive display.
  5. Not sure if this is a serious question however :- Good coaching. Being played with an experienced centre back. Playing U23s. Playing non essential games. Playing when we are comfortable in a game. Playing cup games. Substitute appearances. Loaned out etc etc etc He has literally just turn 21 this month and will be a excellent player for us in a season or two of that there is no doubt. Nor does DF it appears. If we were mid table or way off the pace then I suspect this conversation would not come up. He actually had a good game Saturday, but I believe we need Klose back available. However, if all our centre backs were fit, it is unlikely he would have played so much.
  6. Good point. It is definitely not just a NCFC problem and there were in the past many games when supporters would be relatively passive. However this season is completely different in so many ways, for us and compared to other clubs. We are batting way above our expected position, have a very young and inexperienced team who may, if the season ends well, stick with us for a while and really push on. And we are witnessing some of the best football seen at Carrow Road for many, many years (in my opinion). Without being pessimistic imaging going to one of the hilarious Jongleurs comedy clubs, as you liked comedy. Seeing a number of superb acts and whilst others around you are in fits of laughter (there were always one or two comics who made you cry with mirth), you and your table of 6 just sat there the whole show stony faced without a single smile or appreciative clapping! I guess people pay their money, and as such they can do what they like. Just a shame we appear to have so many.
  7. We have indeed been spoiled, and why not. We appear to have a habit over the years of having some superb keepers and of course a few...……...less so. At this moment and in keeping with our finances Krul is an excellent addition. Would have loved Angus to have stayed but being realistic that was never going to happen. Their second goal? Quite a few could have done a bit more stop stop that but there is no point or advantage to lay blame. We are were we are because of a team collective and we are one hell of a ride at the moment. Strap yourselves in !
  8. Completely disagree with this. I have seen every goalkeeper we have had as a permanent signing here since Keelan and I can tell you now he not "just not a very goal goalkeeper' He perhaps is not the greatest to play for city but he adds things others do not. Experience, maturity and presence to name but a few. Mark my words we will need characters like him in our team set up once we get to the nasty end of this campaign.
  9. What about this one, for the faint hearted? The 'invisibility cloak'...…………………………………….may have to work on the shadow part 🧐
  10. Totally agree here. Godfrey is going to be excellent for us in a season or two, whether that is in the championship or Prem. We need Klose back ASAP, and Emi B to get more game time to sharpen up his sublime skill back to where it was pre injury. I'm sure McClean will have a part to play as this season pans out as well.
  11. Spot on. It amuses immensely me when those same said critics complain about a run, pass or passage of play, only for it to turn out to be a superb piece of skill, before the dribble, nonsense or utter ignorant point is completed. But at least those types make noise I guess. My point is I suppose, as you say, we have many 'students of the game' (very amusing analogy by the way). Many of these, who must have seen some of our darkest days (including being able to actually sit on the terracing at home games, when back in old First Division, such was our numbers and footballing fare on offer). To now witness our team, crafted over the last two seasons playing some of Carrow Road's best football, and for a large number to sit there without a murmur of support or acknowledgement, is quite incredible. That area of the River end has an infection of apathy. I will continue to shout and cheer...…………..**** the doom mongers
  12. We are holding our own still, despite the attrition to our defence and the astonishing age of the replacements and even starters. However, I agree old heads are needed when the run in starts and Hanley in my opinion would be a good man in there. Klose is class and we should get him back in ASAP, but CZ has been generally immense for us this season. Who'd be a manager eh?
  13. River End, Nutty. Don't get me wrong there are tons of individuals supporting the team in there, and so they should considering the efforts on show, but there is a large sway of people who would literally make more noise in a library from just having to choose a book! It is absolutely frustrating. And yes if you dare shout encouragement at a crucial moment during an attack...………...well stand by for distained looks and collective tuttering. Sounds like I'm brand new to this supporting lark, unfortunately I'm not and this has been a trend for many years. It is probably down to a lack of available seats and an increasing aging support. Most clubs suffer this, but most clubs do not have our level of entertainment on offer! Ho hum...…...
  14. Agreed. Emi B tired and should have come off about 70mins for Cantwell. Rhodes on shortly after that would have been good. However DF said we looked in control at 2-1 and on the balance, at that point we did. Hindsight eh?
  15. Thought the team played well against a good Sheff Utd and the crowd were quite responsive throughout Barclay looked superb and gave great support. Final score was fair in my opinion and it was a great advert for championship football. We have at city one of the most exciting teams we have seen for decades taking to the hallowed turf and anything could happen this season, despite the expert's pre season predictions of a mid table finish. Grit, flair, determination and local endeavour in abundance from our players virtually every single game. We are witnessing a team to remember. I took a different seat today as another family member came. Sitting in another part of the stand I was absolutely stunned with the open show of apathy around me. Without fear of contradiction, roughly 50% of our 'support' in the two rows in front of me failed to respond to the team's efforts through the entire game! I remarked to a chap next to me how passive some were and he agreed it is disappointing. There were a large number of supporters who attended who did not make a sound, clap or even move throughout the whole game except for the goals. Even when witnessing excellent efforts on goals, great clearances, last ditch corners or even substitutes, not a single peep. Yes, you pay your money, you make your choice, but Christ on a bike, show some emotion for our efforts, put your hands together, just once for excellent play, give a small response or even a slight acknowledgment of your team. Apathy, entitlement or did I just find myself amongst the sponsored silence group today? Plenty of tuttering though!
  16. I think Jacob Murphy could definitely get into our match day squad, but our first 11 now? Unlikely. T Cantwell, OH and Emi provide a better return over a sustained period and long may it continue.
  17. Not sure about the Rabble photos. However, there is this one, which is beleived to be one of the earlier pictures submitted by a keen town fan of the secretive saviour and asset stripper backer down there. Made me laugh anyway.
  18. Apart from us and possibly Middlesbrough, they have some easier games coming up. That will test their resolve. Difficult to maintain the pathetic 'everyone hates us' stance when playing clubs with absolutely no football threat (position wise) against them. Here's hopping they go into their traditional, end of season, collapse early this year.
  19. Interesting read and some of it relevant. However, the first half of that piece is in my mind why they will always have issues there. The Piece sets the scene for what the author really wants to write about:- their exploits from yesteryear. A proud history non the less, but old history in footballing terms it certainly is. You would have to be a supporter probably 55years old or over to have any real actual memory and understanding of the meaning of those times. I do remember them wining the F.A cup and vaguely remember the euro win, but such was the poor coverage in those days it was forgotten in a matter of days, hardly mentioned at school, and rarely mentioned again unless you were a town fan. Compare that to the Wigan win a few years ago, it is fixed in my memory in part due to the follow on coverage with world wide media available at the touch of a button. The repeated problem they have as a club is recognised by some town fans I know. The older group there will not let go of the past allowing the club to move on. Every manager is compared to yesteryear, players are never good enough or allowed to develop because of the past perceived greats. Any flag or placard reminds the current team that they are not worthy, despite three quarters plus of their supporters never seeing this time. Of course it is amusing to see them dwelling in the past and disrespecting their current team in doing so, but it does make you feel a little bit sad for them...………………………..lol
  20. If we do not go up this season, and he goes, it will no doubt be good business by the club when considering their recent dealings. If promoted back to the promised land, and we keep him, it will be good business by the club considering their investment in youth. Roll on the next star. Hopefully it will be the later. Whilst I'm really impressed with J Lewis, it could be said M Aarons has been just as impressive. Both excellent for us at this time and a delight to watch in the yellow and green. OTBC
  21. Looks like he has lost the confidence of the players. Only been there 3 months, not a great start to management, but I suspect he will bounce back
  22. Ha ha. New poster, long term lurker and even longer term supporter. The aesthetics of the stadium is an interesting topic, and well worth debate and opinions. Just, not point scoring from any side, would be good. Seems to have worked
  23. A very good loan signing by WBA. He will be determined to play well so will keep an eye on him.
  24. You appear to be looking for an argument over an old post HHS (and REC). This is a good pointer to what the BEN have done and to derail it is a bit low. I suspect even Til agrees it is a good effort and the original question regarding expenditure was raised after the first display or so. A bit premature sure, but for the sake of a decent discussion leave it there.
  25. What they are doing at that end is superb and long may it continue. I for one am especially looking forward to the derby display. having been attending their since the mid/late 70s (very periodically through the mid /late 80s), the loudest sustained game by game support was (in my humble opinion) the Worthy promotion season from the Champs and the one in the Prem after that. However, just for shear vibrancy, colour and fun this season is fantastic and if the South Stand joined in with the acoustics a bit more (superb in those afore mentioned seasons), there would indeed be a cauldron of noise. It is certainly noticed by the opposition and our players. fans are getting into the ground earlier as a result. Would be great if the flags reached the top tier as well, that would indeed be a 'wall', but organisation must be a mare. So well done all involved. P.S The founders one in the centre really sets off the rest well.
