  1. Last I heard, Valencia were supposed to be interested, and if they make an acceptable bid I have a feeling he''ll choose them.
  2. Snoddy obviously managed to get a bit of a tan this summer - well according to the photo in the Mail-on-line article   http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2383837/Match-report-Braga-2-Norwich-2.html
  3. Lopez is a non-starter. Too few letters in his name to make any money on the shirt!
  4. Forest, Bolton, and Wigan as three of the interested clubs - seems to be aiming at Championship level. Also has the draw-back (for me), as with N''Doye of likely to be involved in the African Cup of Nations.
  5. New Boy: thank you for your kind and considered response, delivered with the level of civility I''d expect.
  6. How did this thread, which is basically about news of signing(s) today, get hi-jacked into a discussion about world class players, particularly goalkeepers? Keep on topic, please, or start a new thread.
  7. Since you ask for "favourite" rather than "best" ever footballer, I''m torn between Johnny Gavin, Jimmy Hill (ours, not the one with the chin), Robert Fleck, and Dennis Bergkamp. (One or two of those might not mean a lot to the younger memebers of this board).
  8. Well, at the moment no news is good news, because there''s no mention anywhere of Fer talking to other clubs. There was some suggestion earlier (in the Dutch media, I think) that he was going to be having his medical with us today, and given his previous failed medical at Everton, maybe it''s taking a bit longer than usual. Keep the faith!
  9. Interesting though, that as reported elsewhere, Hughton flew to Amsterdam today - possibly to try to convince him?
  10. Tilly, we haven''t got any money for him yet - it will go to a tribunal, as he''s a young player, but out of contract. We''re entitled to a "reasonable" fee for his development, but since he declined to sign a new contract with us, it has to go to the tribunal.
  11. According to some press reports this morning, Cheski''s "improved" bid for Ruddy was £6M  - are they taking the pi55??? If I was Ruddy, I''d feel insulted!!
  12. Bill Punton had very similar "upper body forward" style, for those not old enough to remember - made it very difficult for defendersvtonget close enough to tackle him!
  13. It''s also a lot of money to spend on a player who could be missing for up to a month each season because of the African Nations Cup. I''d rather spend it on players who at least will be available (if injury free) for the whole of our season.
  14. Based on what I saw of him in England colours (at both levels), he''d be behind Bunn for me - doesn''t command his area, looked weak dealing with crosses, got a long way to go yet before I''d have him as first choice keeper.
  15. No, Morty, I''ll believe it when ther''s something more substanstial than "Sky Ports sources say", like McNally or CH coming out with a statement. Until then, everything is just gossip and speculation, along with all the players we''re supposed to be linked with coming in.
  16. And that''s it - "Sky Sports sources say........"  No evidence to back it up, other than apparently they''ve suspended betting on Holt going to Wigan because a load of money went on to it on Skybet in the past couple of days.
  17. Have the club decided on a new way of increasing revenue? First RVW, now Alderweireld. At a pound a letter on shirts, those two could make us a fortune!
  18. I love Fernado Develd said "I don''t know why everyone is so bothered. Remember Fraser Forster was loads better than him according to ths message board 2 years ago. He must be really good now. Lets sell Ruddy and buy him! "   Slight drawback with this idea is that first you have to persuade Celtic to sell, which is about as likely as getting them to sell Hooper last January.
  19. If Vaughn has been allowed to go, the implication is that there is another striker coming in - presumably in the bag already, but not yet announced. That McNally does like to tease us!
  20. Lots of people saying £10M is a good price for a goalkeeper, but didn''t Liverpool just pay £11M for Mignolet? That would value Ruddy even higher, in my opinion.   IF the reports that Chelski are coming back with a £10M bid are true, then they are taking the pi55. Any goalkeeper of Ruddy''s ability is a key member of the team, and as such is worth as much as any 20 goal a season striker. CH has publicly stated that Ruddy is a key part of his plans, so even if the reports of Cheslea''s bid are true, I expect our board to tell them where to go.   Since there have been a number of suggestions on this thread for alternatives to Ruddy, why don''t Chelsea look at them if they want a bench-warmer?
  21. Please feel free to regard this reply as abuse, Mr Lister.
  22. Yeah, I missed the sarcastic tone, but you can put that down to my age, and to the amount of cr@p postings on here regarding who we are, or should be signing.
  23. Where exactly does "young goalkeeper" come into this? He was born in 1973, which by my reckoning makes him 40 (mind you, that''s young compared to me!)
  24. Right, Gingerpele, if that''s how it happens on Football Manager, then it must be right for the Premier League!   To those above who seem to think I get my rules from FM, I''ve never played it in my life.   The Premier League requirement is for squads to be registered at the end of August, and that includes their squad numbers. As I said, players could still leave, and join during August, so the numbers are flexible until the squad is registered. If clubs prefer to leave some numbers blank, and to allocate other numbers which they then stick to when the final squad is named, that''s up to them, and is for their convenience, but the final allocation of numbers isn''t mandatory till the final squad is registered.
