Gingerpele 0 Posted January 15, 2013 Twitter seems to think we''re signing him...Think its just come from Leeds fans assuming, as he''s been left out of tonights squad.Wouldn''t mind him if he''s one of two strikers. Scored a fair few this season. Maybe a Morison replacement?
Mr Brownstone 0 Posted January 15, 2013 Warnock was saying the other day that his head isn''t right, or words to that effect. Missing tonight due to "illness".I''d only really want to see us sign him for the WACCOE reaction.
Twitchy 0 Posted January 15, 2013 If Butterfield heads to Leeds on loan then I smell a rat (well a rat faced manager anyway about to feed us once more).
First Wizard 0 Posted January 15, 2013 Nothing specific on a move yet on Waccoe.
Stowmarket Canary (not Delia) 0 Posted January 15, 2013 My Leeds mate would go mental! He already hates us for taking their other players!

York Canary 28 Posted January 15, 2013 Would Becchio be any more mobile or better than Moro? He has a good strikerate, but I suppose Morison did at that level and Jacko
York Canary 28 Posted January 15, 2013 Maybe Bradders, Jonny and Snoddy have been sweet-talking him and encouraging CH to get in there. How long is his contract?
I am a Banana 0 Posted January 15, 2013 Were building the leeds team that struggled to get out of league 1!! Becchio is not the player we need.

He''d definitely give us something different to what we already have in the squad. You couldn''t really compare him to Holt, but he''d be a significant step up in quality from the others. It''s not necessarily about strike rate, more about having the appropriate key to unlock certain defences. York Canary 28 Posted January 15, 2013 just checked..18mths left on Becchio''s contract. Wigan and us are linked..think I''d be content enough to swap for Moro or Jacko and see what happens. 19goals this season for him and 1 in 2 over his career
Gordon Bennett 783 Posted January 15, 2013 Would Becchio & CMS be an improvement on Morison & Jackson?I''d say so.
Gingerpele 0 Posted January 15, 2013 Maybe they would Bagpuss, but essentially we can only guess.Neither have played PL football. Neither have played in our team, our system, with our players or for Hughton. Morison had a pretty good Championship record. Jackson once he got going was on fire. Although he only got going for a few weeks. The only thing that''d make me ''happy'' about Moro and Jackson being replaced by those two, is that Moro and Jackson don''t look like they are going to start banging in the goals any time soon. Jackson hasn''t had a fair crack of the whip maybe, but Moro has had more than enough chances since his goal glut ended, without checking i''d imagine he has something like 3 goals in 30 appearances since sometime December ''12. Maybe Becchio and CMS can score a few more than Jacko and Moro have done recently. But maybe neither would be up to it and we''d waste a few million that could have gone to a more ''proven'' quality striker. York Canary 28 Posted January 15, 2013 Well seeing as they aren''t really scoring or doing too much it may be worth finding out if he''s better. He seems a more clinical finisher than the other two and more technical. A more intelligent striker perhaps? Would he be able to do the lone role though? Many Leeds fans seem to think he always puts in a great shift for them in every game so maybe he''d fit in well..think I''m coming around to the idea if there''s no other obvious choices we can get that aren''t just ''fillers''
York Canary 28 Posted January 15, 2013 I don''t think Jacko would ever score a big amount of goals at this level..he just doesn''t have that natural intelligence up front to make the most of his abilities. It''s the harsh and very frustrating truth[:(]
a1canary 0 Posted January 15, 2013 If we wanted him I don''t think we would have much trouble getting him. All we would need do is chuck a few crumbs at them and they''d gratefully gobble them up and think it''s Christmas. I think he would strengthen our squad for the here and now so that''s good enough for me.My only doubt is over whether we would actually switch to playing 2 up top if we got him. I''m not so sure, in which case, is he better than Holt in the lone striker role? There are players who are better than Holt in the lone striker role. Rooney, Tevez and Benteke. Otherwise, he has few equals in that role.

Norwich tend to do well when buying under-rated players without paying over the odds, it''s a big factor in us being able to compete with richer rivals. Sometimes it''s riskier paying more for a ''proven'' Premier goalscorer, but I suppose a lot depends on how good a judge the scouts/coaches are and what our budget is.Playing the lone striker role tends to suit a clever player with a good first touch and technique to be able to craft chances on their own and hold the ball up. Becchio has certainly got a good pedigree having been a Boca Juniors youth player and playing for Barca''s B team. Compared with CMS he''s a fair bit taller, about the same height as Moro. For these reasons I''d think that he''d probably be more suited to the lone role than Moro (or CMS) and has the skill to cope with the step up.
Hog 0 Posted January 15, 2013 Scumish thoughts..... I presume Lewis doe has never seen becchio play . Following Leeds home and away I can tell you becchio is a poor player , at his best average. He has a devastating lack of pace , his second touch is a sliding tackle and he couldn''t trap a bag of cement . Sure he scores but his misses against Birmingham and Ipswich were woeful. McCormack is very unlucky after been top scorer last year to be on the bench. I am told that he holds it up well , apart from he doesn''t. His flick ons to nobody are a treat for Wigan to look forward to . If they offer £4 to 5 million as reported I will carry him on my back across the Pennines. Mirfield White - slightly harsh but overall I agree with you! I''d take £4.5m & drive him over to Wigan myself (bit far for a piggy back!)! he''s not Premier quality by any means, he scores but his all round game is poor - also he''s hot at the moment but when he goes off the boil he''s shocking & at times can be bullied out of a game (i.e. Wednesday away)I have to agree with Mirfield White, if we can get anywhere near 4 mil for becchio we should snap their hands off and put the cash towards the transfer fund for warnock. Becchio generally has his back to goal, cannot run at defenders with any likelihood of getting past them, generally flicks the ball backwards off his head without a clue who''s behind him usually leading to loss of possession. Sure he''s scored goals mostly from the spot or tap-ins but he''s not good enough for the PL. having watched beckford a lot in L1 becchio is not as good, and look how successful beckford was in the PL.
