unique 466 Posted November 29, 2012 Ruddy out for three months is a major blow, but Bunn won me round with his performance against Spurs, so hopefully he will fill Ruddy''s boots adequately.Bassong would be a major miss, and is probably the definitive answer........but the more I see of Tettey, the more I think he is becoming irreplaceable. He has been outstanding from pretty much his first game, and has fast become the driving force of the team. This guy breaks up play for fun, can pick a pass, and seems to have an unfaltering engine. Leading the pack for POTS.
lake district canary 0 Posted November 29, 2012 No one is irreplaceable. If you start thinking like that and the player gets injured - what do you do then? Panic? One man''s injury is another man''s opportunity and we have enough experience in the squad to cover for any injuries. No one wants any of the players to get injured but there''s no point worrying if one does get injured. Ruddy''s out - and we have a suitable back up. You can apply that thinking across the squad. I am a Banana 0 Posted November 29, 2012 Yaya Tettey :P!!
Gingerpele 0 Posted November 29, 2012 Bassong. In the games without him we looked useless at the back. And against Chelsea I don''t think he was fully fit, plus they played brilliantly anyway.Unless he''s given the other CBs enough confidence to go on without him, any game Bassong misses I really don''t think we''ll be half as good defensively... ZLF 335 Posted November 29, 2012 Right now I cant choose between Tettey or Bassong - both have been quite inspriational so far and taken performances to a new level compared to last season. The more I see of Tettey the more he impresses me, and bassong just ooozes/spreads confidence to the back half of the team. maybe ruddy comes into that category too but so far Bunn has made sure that his absence is not missed. It is a team game as LDC points out, but for me these two appear to be the rare ones who are probably a level above their potential replacements.

GJP 79 Posted November 30, 2012 I''d still be most worried about Holt getting injured. If Bassong got injured you''d still have Turner (who has been a real class act in recent weeks and defended better than Bassong in some games) plus there''s Bennett or Barnett to come in alongside him or even Russell Martin. If Holt got injured you''re then looking at Morison and while he''s ok he doesn''t have the same presence about him (from our point of view and the opposition''s) and doesn''t carry quite the same goal threat. You could also probably say that Holt''s all round game is generally better than Moro. Beyond that you''ve only really got Jackson so in that area we''re spread a bit thin. Yelloow Since 72 56 Posted November 30, 2012 Although the whole team is playing well (as evidenced by the difficulty choosing a MotM each week), I agree with the emphasis on Tettey and Bassong. It''s no coincidence that the unbeaten run started when Tettey came into the team and Bassong came back from injury. If I have to choose though, I would go for Tettey who seems to read and react to play instinctively. His game is growing all the time and he always seems to be in the right place at the right time. CH realises this as well:http://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/norwich_city_s_alex_tettey_proving_a_sensation_in_premier_league_1_1716803Very much a candidate for Player of the Season, IMO. Aggy 944 Posted November 30, 2012 Yep, I''ll echo the Bassong and Tettey choice. Probably Bassong for me, as he organises the defence and is a class act which we just simply haven''t got at the back anywhere else. Tettey would be a huge miss as well, but I think we''ve got slightly better replacement options in central midfield than we have at the back. More importantly, I don''t think that Turner, Barnett or Bennett organise the defence quite as well as Bassong, so especially now that Ruddy''s out as well, I think losing Bassong could leave the defence in a complete shambles.
