How do you spell Tottenham?!

Recommended Posts

Reading some of the National broadsheets online yesterday, they all refer to Lambert''s quote after Monday''s game where he stated he "couldn''t even spell Tottenham 3 years ago!".

Now I know Lambo might not be a keen advocate for all the technical requirements of management these days (ie, Pro-zone, Opta stats etc), but I''m pretty sure our esteemed manager would not have been in the lowest class at his school for English!!!

Interestingly, on the Pinkun, this quote was shown as "could even SMELL Tottenham 3 yars ago", which given our league placing when he arrived at Carrow Road, makes a whole lot of sense when you throw in his dour Scottishness!!

It just makes me smile that quite a few Nationals have seemingly gone for the wrong word, which admittedly may sound the same, particularly in Lambo thick Caledonian accent, but surely, what manager could not spell Tottenham?

As irony has it, judging on his recent court revelations, the one sitting on the opposite bench to Lambo on Monday, perhaps?

[/quote]To be honest I thought it was spell as well, and I don''t think it was meant as his inability to spell Tottenham! I am sure he was just saying it as another way of we couldn''t have even dreamt of played Tottenham a few year sago...

Surely it was spell? Smell doesn''t make any sense. I didn''t take it to mean that he actually couldn''t spell Tottenham, more just a way of him showing how far we''ve come. Seems like something he''d say as well, a bit jokey, not meant to be taken at face value.

Lambo has a brilliant dry sense of humour, as anyone who has witnessed his various appearances for social stuff at The Carra.

No doubts whatever, it was spell.

The dog was not very clever as he then forgot all about opening that account apparently.

he''s constructed an analagous hierarchy of competences regarding Spurs. At one end, the easiest, is spelling "Tottenham", at the other end, the most difficult, is beating Spurs at their own ground.
