Derby v Forest

Recommended Posts

Yet another reminder tonight that police forces in other parts of the UK are happy to accomodate a fiercely contested local derby at a time other than a Sunday lunchtime

Yes we did, but the incompetencies that happened that night meant that whenever we play 1p5wich in future it will always be on a Sunday lunchtime.  Fact.

In both police forces defence neither the Merseyside derby nor the Forset v Derby match were originally scheduled for being midweek matches, they are both rearranged so I don''t think there is any alternative but to play them durimg the week?

And what a night that was[:D][Y]

Have to say it was my favourite away day ever. Maybe even favourite game ever.

And there''s been no binners on here since. Well, except those disguised as city fans[:O]

Well I doubt we''ll be playing them for a looooooooooooong time unless it''s a cup match or pre-season friendly like when we played Gorleston this season.

Aren''t you forgetting something?

Ipswich are in the Championship, quite a few points of the play-offs, were not going to be playing them for a while...

Has anyone seen the stuff about the chants aimed at Forest fans by a section of the Derby crowd?

Apparently they chanted things such as "where''s you Doughty gone?" and "going down with your chairman" in relation to the death of ex-chairman and club owner Nigel Doughty a couple of months back. Derby have since made an official apology.

Whilst the chants weren''t exactly in good taste, the reaction from the Forest management and fans seemed, to me, to be a bit over the top. There are always these slightly bad-taste chants at football grounds and, for me, it just seemed like a case of Forest losing and sulking when it was them getting the abuse instead of giving it out for once.... but then again I massively dislike Forest and might be seeing it in a biased fashion!

Interesting Aggy. It''s a part of football that''s distasteful but I don''t know of any club, ours included, who doesn''t have some of these idiots. Liverpool fans will create if Hillsborough is mentioned but quite happily sing songs like "it was the ice on the wings that made the aeroplane come down". If a club feels it has to apologise for it''s fans then maybe they should consider taking action to stop it happening. I guess the problem with this is a chant may be in bad taste or humorous depending on who is listening. If no laws are being broken what can be done?

Brian Clough would not have stood for the tastless chanting.   He commanded the respect of the whole club when he was at DC and at NF.   He demanded that the crowd would not swear and certainly would have had no qualms of telling the fans to shut up the tastless chants.    Authority figures like him don''t come along very often.    Even when he was around he was the only manager that stood up against the fans if he felt it necessary - but he was the only manager who commanded enough respect to be able to do that.    More Brian Cloughs needed!
