Lambert reckons permanent deal also a no-goer.Adeyemi to return to Oldham for rest of season on loan.
Not surprised, with Corluka off to West Ham Naughton will be second in line at Tottenham next season and they will need to bump up their ''home-grown'' player quota for the Champions'' League''. A real shame.
spencer 1970 214 Posted January 6, 2012 Gutted on Naughton. Spurs obviously prefer him over Corluka and see him as back up to Walker. It''ll be funny to see if he re-signs for Spurs in the summer though as his contract runs out...but realistically they can pay bigger wages than us. He can''t leave on a free either way as he is too young so we''ll have to give the spuds something....or maybe ''Arry is putting out a smokescreen with the West Ham Corluka thing and he''s just trying to get more for KN. Just a thought.

Just a thought.
Quite possibly, but more likely it''s Lambert''s way of saying that we cannot afford Naughton and he''s going to loook for someone cheaper either now or in the summer . Though Naughto has impressed on occasions, I''m not sure if, long term, looking for someone else would''nt be a better bet, if it means keeping more transfer and wage money in the kitty. Old Shuck 291 Posted January 6, 2012 Can see logic of Spurs wanting to hang onto Naughton. He''s proved himself at a high level now. Quality cover RB and LB, could also play RM/LM if needed.I''m sure they''ll be offering him a new deal-if he''s interested in staying and signs, then he''s way out of our league, transfer fee wise. Suspect his wage demands would be quite high as well.A shame. Its great that we at least looked to get him in permanently but if he/his club want to stay at WHL then its not down to any failings at Carrow Road if he does stay there/sign a new Spurs deal. If he ends up going elsewhere, then £££ has talked and we couldn''t compete, you only need a Sunderland, a Villa or a Stoke to up the ante and we''ll be struggling to compete, wages wise.Disappointing. Hopefully things might change, but, if he doesn''t want to come here permanently, then thats that!
Bethnal Yellow and Green 2,424 Posted January 6, 2012 It''s also interesting Naughton can''t play in the FA Cup, suggests there is the option for Tottenham to recall him if they need to.

Or is it done on a deal by deal basis?
CanaryOne 0 Posted January 6, 2012 Bottom line was Naughton was to pricey according to Rick Waghorn .
Canaries Utd 0 Posted January 6, 2012 We''ll go for Gunter i think, Forest want 2.5 m, we offered 1.5 m, i wouldn''t be surprised if we met somewhere in the middle and have the add on clause. My mate who is a Forest fan rates him highly, he''s young and fits the Lambert mould.
AJ 1,358 Posted January 6, 2012 I would actually prefer Gunter to Naughton, although I feel the latter has improved a lot since the start of the season. Shame Spurs won''t do us a favour, but it is a money game I suppose.Besides, if Naughton decides he wants first team football, he can always come here at the end of the season on a free when his contract expires, hopefully the payout for him won''t be too high (re: Angus Gunn!) Gingerpele 0 Posted January 6, 2012 That would be a pretty good deal JC. Wasn''t it only £2-2.5 million they want for McGugan? Bargain from what i''ve seen of him. (Especially considering Lambert seems to be able to get the best out of quite a lot of the players he''s bought)

I thought he may just of said that so I couldn''t have a laugh if he did leave his club for ours, so I had a quick look on their forum to get a general consensus and most of them can''t wait to see the back of him and think he could go for less than the figure you suggested. They are fed up with his bad attitude, lack of effort and sulking and is not a player they want at their club ''when the chips are down''. As I said on a different thread, this makes me wonder if he is a Lambert type of signing, then again Lambert may bring out the best in him. http://www.forestforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=29867

He''s always looked pretty assured when I''ve seen him play for Forest or Wales. I believe that he can play either central defence or RB,. Is that the case ? Canaries Utd 0 Posted January 6, 2012 Forest fans well may slate McGugan, but I remember them giving an even bigger slamming of a fella called Grant Holt! Man management is the key.
Gingerpele 0 Posted January 6, 2012 I thought forrest fans loved Holt, he was POTS wasn''t he? It was the manager who didn''t like Holt/play him correctly.
Canaries Utd 0 Posted January 6, 2012 A lot of Forest fans liked GH, and still do, but the manager/s played him out of position and his confidence took a battering, his performances dropped and the weight gained, a lot of fans felt for him, but in the end were pleased to see the back of him. My mate (forest fan) is made up for him though.
"""""""""Ben """"""""""" 0 Posted January 6, 2012 Holt played as a winger for most of the season after they got promoted I think.
alysha 0 Posted January 6, 2012
I thought forrest fans loved Holt, he was POTS wasn''t he? It was the manager who didn''t like Holt/play him correctly.
Yeah, if I remember rightly - Holt won POTS when playing in his natural position, however he then started to play on the wing and obviously wasn''t performing particularly well, some fans were ignorant whilst some accepted that Holt playing on the wing was never going to be ideal. I don''t think his attitude was ever questioned.
Canaries Utd 0 Posted January 6, 2012 I''m just referring to their message boards at the time, like ours and every message board in the land there was a lot disagreement about Holt, but in general, they wish him well but accepted it was time for him to move on. Lambo 0 Posted January 6, 2012 Don''t rate McGugan particularly, he had a season where he scored a lot of long range strikes. That doesn''t make him a PL player, neither is he the type of midfielder we need.

tom cavendish 0 Posted January 6, 2012 Naughton would be advised to allowed his contract to expire. Naughton could then pocket a huge signing-on fee as a club won''t have to pay a transfer free for him.Spurs have to offer him an improved contract or lose him for nothing. Even if Spurs offer him a new improved contract, if Naughton declines it then Spurs will only get a small amout of compensation (as he''s not been at Spurs for very long). Unless Spurs are going to offer Naughton a new contract with a huge signing-on fee, then they would be wise to sell him now.
Tangible Fixed Assets anyone? 0 Posted January 6, 2012
........as a club won''t have to pay a transfer free for him.
Oh yes they will if he is under 24 in the summer.
You are wrong. As I explained, there would be no transfer fee. Instead, Spurs would recieve compensation. The compensation would be very low as Naughton has only been a Spurs player since July 2009. Of those 3 years, Naughton would have been out on-loan for about 2 of those years.
