BlyBlyBabes 0 Posted October 3, 2011 TIGER, tiger, burning brightIn the forests of the night,What immortal hand or eyeCould frame thy fearful symmetry? In what distant deeps or skies5Burnt the fire of thine eyes?On what wings dare he aspire? What the hand dare seize the fire? And what shoulder and what artCould twist the sinews of thy heart?10And when thy heart began to beat,What dread hand and what dread feet? What the hammer? what the chain? In what furnace was thy brain? What the anvil? What dread grasp15Dare its deadly terrors clasp? When the stars threw down their spears,And water''d heaven with their tears,Did He smile His work to see?Did He who made the lamb make thee?20Tiger, tiger, burning brightIn the forests of the night,What immortal hand or eyeDare frame thy fearful symmetry? PurpleCanary 6,389 Posted October 3, 2011 Blake also said: "The tigers of wrath are wiser than the horses of instruction." Sounds like he doesn''t rate Grant "the horse" Holt as a Premier League player...
BlyBlyBabes 0 Posted October 4, 2011 Bring me my bow of burning gold!Bring me my arrows of desire!Bring me my spear! O clouds, unfold!Bring me my chariot of fire!I will not cease from mental fight,Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand,Till we have built a dynastyIn Norfolk''s green and pleasant land. Lets be aving you! 0 Posted October 4, 2011 "William Blake 1757-1827OTBC"Like how this Blake chap signed off with an OTBC. The song might predate him, of course, but was he the one who wrote all that scrimmage malarkey?

Lets be aving you! 0 Posted October 4, 2011 "That is uncanny how it also took Mr P just half an hour to write his ditty" Uncanny, indeed, especially as it reinforces the poem''s theme of symmetry. However, I think you''ll find that the colons are missing, and so this cannot refer to the time taken. Personally, I cannot believe it didn''t take at least an hour to pen our club ode. On a personal note, my colon has long been missing, hence my regular contributions of the brown stuff. PS. This Blake chap, could he be a direct descendant of Darcey Blake, the Cardiff player? Oh, and along similar lines, has anyone else spotted that WB Yeats poetically foresaw Ipsw1ch fans'' attacks on the Fortress Carrow Road toilets:"Turning and turning in the widening gyreThe falcon cannot hear the falconer; Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world"

Lets be aving you! 0 Posted October 4, 2011 Have done some digging around, Crabby. According to The Cat''s Pyjamas: The Penguin Book of Cliches (ISBN 9780141025162), the "Who ate all the pies?" chant was first sung in 1894 by Sheffield United supporters, and directed at the club''s goalkeeper William "Fatty" Foulke, who weighed over 300 lb (140 kg). Love the "Fatty" nickname, but seriously 300 lb???? Makes Holty a bit of a stick insect. He should have Foulked off down the gym omce in a while.
