Renault effectively admit cheating - what of QPR then?

Recommended Posts

Interesting development in the race crash cheating row at Renault. After Piquet Jr''s revelation that he was told to cheat, obviously the fact that Briatore has resigend and Renault won''t appeal, means that it is likely to be true.

If Briatore fels motivated to cheat in one sport, has he already attempted it in another? I would hope and expect that QPR will suffer closer inspection of their dealings from now on!

I hope he does not have any dirty secrets with QPR...they do not deserve to be dragged down by a man the fans dont like!! A good club with a nice fan base!

Have to say what he told Piquet to do really is very bad. Match fixing is one thing but risking a drivers health by asking them to crash really is dispicable

Flavio Briatore has always been a cheat, he just hasn''t always been pulled up on it. In 1994 Briatore was in charge of the Benetton team (now Renault) which removed a filter from the fuel rig to increase the flow by 12.5%, this resulted in Jos Verstappen almost being BBQ''d at Hockenheim: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyZpASrVAscThe same year Benetton were also found to have illegal traction and launch control in their cars, but weren''t punished due to ''there being no proof it had been used'':  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYca6E6c3IM

Stop being so damn precious. If you don''t like non-football threads don''t read them. Is it that hard?

a little ''OT:'' before the title would have done otherwise it should be on the other message board!

The Leagues ''Fit and proper person'' criteria contains the following rule forbidding ''cheats'' from holding posts as directors of football clubs: "anyone subject to a ban from the involvement in the administration of a sport by a sport''s governing body".You would have to expect a ban is likely for Briatore not least because he was most vociferous in the anti Max Mosley campaign earlier this year which forced Max to effectively stand down in October. Sometimes you just have to wonder where the true engineering in F1 occurs as it now appears Mad Max''s last task of any importance will be to punish those responsible for ''Crashgate''. Expect Renault and Briatore to be punished to the ''Max'' and the Renault team making way for BMW Sauber next season thereby getting FIA out the little hole of their own making (by accepting Lotus on the grid for 2010).

If Delia had gotten arrested for her drunken pitch invasion a few years ago, would she have not been a "fit and proper person"?
QPR still have ecclestone? and the Mittal family. financially they would be fine , and he could still be a non executive director?
Bang. Nail. On. Head.

There''s always ways round these such things. If Briatore wants to stay involved with QPR then there''s very little the league can do about it.

And I''m a big Renault fan.....not just because they race in yellow! It''s all gonna go tits up if Alonso leaves, he is arguablly (and in my opinion) the best F1 racer today.

Ah the glory days...

Imagine if Briatore and Delia were joint majority shareholders!
