lucky green trainers 0 Posted August 2, 2008 i''d take a draw next week!!!
kdncfc 0 Posted August 2, 2008 I know the result doesn''t matter in a game like this but it''s worrying that we aren''t anywhere near having a settled first 11 as yet, if we fail to get a decent target man in I can see us struggling with what we have. Even if we do manage to sign someone they will be starting next week without having played with any of their new team mates and we can ill afford a bad start. lucky green trainers 0 Posted August 2, 2008 with so many arrivials, getting them to gel is always gonna be...and with players arriving in different weeks, different levels of fitness...august may well be a tricky month for city<><
NCFC_Shaun 0 Posted August 2, 2008 The game was awful. I cannot pick out one player who stood out. Hoolahan was a shadow of the player he was against Tottenham! Lupoli and Stefanovic looked like they couldnt be bothered. Shackell and Clingan were the only ones that looked ''decent''. All though.. Russells first was very nice. gazzathegreat 0 Posted August 2, 2008 Not too much to shout about to be honest. Clingan looked okay, Hoolihan didn''t impress me much either, maybe though he is victim to a lot of hype preceeding his move and he will improve as the season gets under way. Omozusi impressed me most. Some lovely runs and good footwork. If he continues like this he will be an asset to us. Russell''s first goal was very good and the second was an excellent move. It was good to see Chadwick come on and I hope he can regain his fitness and get back to something resembling his best. Unlike Ipswich are scum I wasn''t impressed with Shackell. Kennedy looked steady. Marshall looked shaky though, which was worrying.Big question though to someone who can maybe shed some light on this. Why were the floodlights on in brilliant sunshine? the stump 0 Posted August 2, 2008 i agree with ipswich are scum it was awful it was only a friendly yes but so much to improve on and only 7 days left
kdncfc 0 Posted August 2, 2008 Friendlies are always rubbish, that''s why I don''t bother with them anymore. Sounds like we have a lot of improving to do before next Saturday, I fear a defeat the way things look at the moment.
NCFC_Shaun 0 Posted August 2, 2008 Lol gazza well I only said Shackell looked ''decent'' due to a couple of nice moves down the left he was involved in. A rare thing to stand out in a very poor match therefore he got a higher rating tan most in my book. Omozusi looked OK but i was quite cworried about Kennedy. Particularly one simple header forward which bounced off the side of his head for a throw.
can u sit down please 0 Posted August 2, 2008 I think ppl have summed it up quite well. It was a wee bit boring, my phone t''internet beill is gonna be high! It was a typical friendly, no crunching tackles, low tempo and players looked like they didnt want to risk themselves.Marshall- Looked steady. Not a great deal to do. Talked more which is a positive.Shackell-Looked ok.Im not his biggest fan.He didnt let us down and can certainly be an option if needs be at LB.Omozusi-Steady.Nice touches. Not marauding forward like Semmy but no mistakes.Kennedy-Looked Rusty.Few misplaced headers and passes but will get better. Coped with Platt well.Stefanovic-I like the guy. Looks to play his way out of the back. Positionally is good and like Kennedy coped with platt''s aerial threat. Will be an asset.Pattison-Cant complain about him. Looked steady but low on confidence, which didnt help with the few boo''s he received when his name was called out. Some nice touches. The scapegoat hunters cannot comlain today, as in an unaccustomed RM role he did well.Clingan-Looks a capture and a half! Tidy, likes a tackle and is always on for a pass.Quite similar to Fozzy really!Fozzy-No thrills.Kept possession, always talking.Looked frustrated at the "lack of bite" around and waded in with some strong challenges.Hoolahan-Will be a gem but will be as equally as frustrating. Would like to see him be the heartbeat of our team and used more.Cureton-Worked hard but really does need a hold up man with him. Didnt have a chance i dont think.Lupoli-Some nice touches.Like Curo, not involved a great deal as the service to the front 2 was poor.Russell-Bless him did well. 2 well taken goals, ran, tackled and put himself about! Thing is tho...i cant see him getting in front of Clingan and Fozzy.Croft-Now had to think who were the other half time changes.....that says it all. Nothing stand out.Semmy/Martin/Chadders-Not enough time to assess.Sorry if i have forgot anyone but it was a wee bit boring and the annoying 4 yr old behind didnt help! renegade tootsie 0 Posted August 2, 2008 We look like exactly what we are. A bunch of average players with a load of loanees and new boys thrown into a pot, shaken around, thrown onto a pitch with a weeks notice and told to play football like a team. No strikers, to many midfielders pushing in so we have no width. It is not good and if anyone brings out the ''its only a friendly'' nonsense then they are deluding only themselves. Today was our time to show our preferred starting eleven, formation and style of play. We did none of those things because Glen simply has not had the time or the money to mould a TEAM.If we get a draw next week we have done VERY WELL.
How was it?
renegade tootsie 0 Posted August 2, 2008 What game were you watching? Hoolahan looked ok, and Omozumi I am sorry but he was not good at all and we looked much sharper down the right with Otsemebor when he came on.Chadwick - could you tell me what his best is as we are yet to see it so how do you know?Kennedy looked like a man who had not played much football and was not great and Shackell looked ok despite being in a position he hates. Marshall looked shaky because his defence was all over the place having never played together and not knowing what the others were doing.I do wonder what some of you do once you have gone through the turnstiles because you sure as hell dont watch the match.
Not too much to shout about to be honest. O.T.B.C 1 Posted August 2, 2008 You can''t ever boo any Norwich player, never. It annoys me and I soon turn round and have a go at the culprits

alex_ncfc 686 Posted August 2, 2008 The game today was the worst return for £10 I have had in a long, long time.We were awful. Showed no invention, no desire and no skill - we didn''t look like we wanted to step out of first gear. I struggle to see how anyone can take any positives from the proceedings. We had what, 3 shots (that includes both goals, the other being a Jamie Cureton chance in the first half which was well saved) all afternoon. When you consider the opposition (I had not heard of any single one of the Colchester players?) we really need to get our arses in gear in the transfer market because we still have a hell of a lot of work to do. I agree with the post earlier which said we looked like what we are - a bunch of average players who will be scrabbling around the lower reaches of the Championship. Barclay_Boy 0 Posted August 3, 2008 Blimey, shows why football is a game of opinion judging by the differing comments below. Against my better judgement I decided to go at the last minute today. For me, considering all the new players it wasn''t that bad. Positives were Russell scoring twice, the first from a fantastic thru ball from the Hooligan. Lupoli looks to have a decent touch and when fit I think could be a real hit. Kennedy did ok but I thought the young loanee from Fulham was awful. Got well and truly chewed out by Fozzy at one stage for making mistakes. Clinghan showed one or two touches but I sincerely hope that he is not match fit as he was so slow. The Col U number 7 easily run round Clinghan at one stage during the first half. Add in Bell, Koroma, Bertrand, Drury and hopefully a top striker, give it some time to gel and by the 4th or 5th match we should be doing ok.
