Bryan Gunn 0 Posted January 31, 2008
Yeah thanks for that, really interesting, you do know what today is don''t you?
This is a board for all things Norwich city. It may be Transfer deadline day but hes entitled to post about things relating to the club.Canterbury would be a much better shirt sponsor than Xara. Not been remotely impressed with anything Xara have produced. Caterbury Are a world renowned brand, albiet in rugby but they''ve crossed over well with Porstmouth. kick it off 2,062 Posted January 31, 2008 The highlight of this post for me was mis-reading Canterbury, for Cadbury''s and envisioning a new look, all purple away kit!!
Bovril 264 Posted January 31, 2008
Yeah thanks for that, really interesting, you do know what today is don''t you?
Thats a harsh comment... the bloke is atleast talking about something ncfc related unlike some of the stuff on here these days, and yes although it is exciting to hear transfer news, i would also be excited if our kit was made by canterbury next year, theyve made excellent rugby shirts through the years, and now theyre starting to roll into the football market
colneycanary 0 Posted January 31, 2008 Whats wrong with Addidas, Nike, Umbro or Reebok? Why do we always have to go for the cheaper brands? Not only do they make nicer kits but their training gear and other sports clothes are alot more popular. These top brand clothes would sell so much better in the club shop. I have never heard of Canterbury before and i might get a new shirt but i will never buy anything else made by canterbury. When will this club ever learn, and who''s decision was this? I HATE rugby and i know that Canterbury are one of the market leaders, and also one of the most expensive/upmarket rugby brands.D: I don''t give a damn who makes the shirt as long as it is yellow and green and has our badge on, chances are, i''ll buy it.E: The top brands would sell no better as most people hold a similar attitude to myself i would think.F: It would be more expensive to have kit manufactured by any of the brand you mention. Who do you think will foot the bill? Would you be happy with a price hike in merchandise to cover the manufacture costs? Personally i feel football shirts are expensive anyway and i would begrudge having to pay more, for the same shirt, with a nike tick on it.G: When will the club learn what?H: No formal decision has been made so far as i am aware, that''s why the original poster said it was a rumour. Do you need a definition of rumour, or have you managed to grasp this simple concept?I: Why berate the club in such a petulant way in such a trivial manner? To give you an example. If we were to have our shirts made by Nike for example, our club shop woud be full of Nike clothes and trainers. Just think of the amount of different Nike clothes the club shop could sell. And as for trainers, football boots etc the club would be making far more money than selling less appealing brands. The same could be said with one of the other leading brands. We are still paying 40 pound for a shirt, so why not have a more popular, better brand. I take it you dont care about what you wear and you probably get all your clothes from primark.

Rupethebear 0 Posted January 31, 2008 Canterbury is a world leading brand in both rugby and sailing and make kit for many clubs and countries around the globe so a great improvement on what we currently have.Last time we had decent gear was when Patrick made the kit so bring on Canterbury!!!!! Bloody Kiwis! If its good enough for Harry Redknap at Pompy, then its good enough for me. Anything good enough for him, or his son I''d have....especially the delightful Louise.....very nice. kick it off 2,062 Posted January 31, 2008 Yes i do care about my appearance, but I don''t wear nike or any of the brands you list, except in footwear.I personally would rather have a club shop than a Nike outlet store but each to their own.You are buying the brand of NCFC - not whoever makes it, that is why people buy it. To most people, who makes the kit is an irrelevance, it is simply a Norwich kit.You clearly have no business accumen. Nike/Reebok would charge us more to make the kit. The club will not let it''s profit margins slip, thus the added cost would go onto us, the consumer. So we wouldn''t be paying £40 for a shirt with a better label, we would be paying more like £50 for a shirt instead of £40. Would you like me to draw a picture or do you understand now?If I want to buy Nike trainers, or football boots, i go to JJB or major sports shop, my first thought isn''t "Hmmm, it''s nike i want, so the obvious place to go is the NCFC club shop...." As do the majority of the population, this is why the shop would not make more money.I have nothing against Primark, they are an excellent shop with very cheap clothes and often some real bargains to be had.Forgive me for asking, but how old are you? You sound about fourteen...? and a bit like a ''brand obsessed chav''?Canterbury are a top quality manufacturer, and added to this, have the integrity of not using 8year olds earning 9p per day in sweatshops to make their goods.... Mason 47 1,924 Posted January 31, 2008 I often play in Xara shirts- I have quite a few from Norwich, and two for Motherwell- and I happen to think they arent very good for playing in at all. They have no breathability, and are very tricky to wear in everyday situations because they get sooo hot. I would like to see a change in maker- Cantebury wouldnt have been my choice, but then the Adidas brands would be paper thin due to respiritory technology, Nike would be expensive and not very well made, Umbro would give us one of those silly looking detailed numbers under the arms like they do for B''ham or Everton, Reebok... well, we''d partially be helping to fund Bolton.I havent got any qualms with Cantebury as yet, so as long as its green, yellow, and shows the SAME badge, we may as well go with it.Might be skintight though. Look out Crofty!
