Shocking policing today!

Recommended Posts

was it me or were they all grumpy and heavy handed!

I think the copper in Block D was an Ipswich fan. he must of been! i got my name taken for putting me finger up at the Ipswich fans. ok wrong i admit but hardly going to start a riot is it?

the same Copper was also very cross when we got our 2nd goal.. and was man handling our fans all over the place...

i hear 2 fans got thrown out of the river end, and there were one or 2 other incidents i noticed...

what made me laugh was the Police in the away end let Ipswich fans do what the hell they liked and get away with it.

anyone else have any bad experiances today?  i thought it spoilt the day for me a bit

he did neither... he asked for my name and address, and date of birth.. he took my ID as well, read the details off it then asked me to confirm it to him....

He didnt charge me, he didnt caution me, he wrote my name and address in the inside front cover of his note book rather than on a clean page too... Reckon he''s gonna try and pin something on me...

got his shoulder number.... didnt like his attitude, if i see him again i might just ask him for his name, they HAVE to give it if u ask... not going to make a complaint about him but if he''s there for Watford i will mention it to him if a Watford fan makes a gesture which i deem offensive.. im interested to see what he will do....

The funniest and most pathetic post on here today - hilarious! How brave of you to stick your middle finger up at the Ipswich fans from the safety of the Barclay - you''re my hero.

By the way, they do NOT have to give their name. Neither do they have to charge you or caution you.

I don''t know how old you are, Jas, but I would hazard a guess that my nipper probably acts with more maturity.

The rozzer near me in e black was a gd laff so much so i jumped on him when we scored! He took it all in good humour and laffed at alot of the songs we sang at them! He also let a few hand signs and verbal assaults go! Yeah, not very mature but derby day just does something to me that i cant control!

You don''t need to give your name out,  the shoulder/collar number is all you need and people think that you have to give your name out, but you don''t.

I can tell you now mate, you won''t be getting a ticket or arrested, more than likely they would have taken your name for intel purposes and maybe to pass on to the club, what you done was a public order offence and potentially inciting the crowd, yes everybody does it including me, but at the end of the day its hard to police matches, you have to take positive action woth offences. Sometimes coppers can be right asses, I know working woith loads, but he may be stressed out and when someone is being abusive to the other persons he was quite right to give you a public order warning for sec 5 or indeed other more serious public order offences.

Sound like a right nerd don''t I ?

All you need to fo is speak to someone in the control room and make an official complaint, but it won''t get anywhere.

Yes, a couple of complete twits got forced out of the River End...what did they think was going to happen once they showed out by celebrating not one goal, but both?...it might have been designated a family area, but that didn''t mean they could take liberties...They were really lucky to have got out without any physical contact...and ''family guys'' were clawing at stewards as they passed along the length of the River End on their way out of the ground to get at them. That''s as hostile as I have seen without blood flowing.

If you are forced to buy tickets in the wrong part of the ground, then you sit on your hands and keep your mouths shut.

[/quote]Stupid Stewards walked them out INFRONT of the whol stand. Bloody fools, lucky it wern''t millwall or cardiff for them otherwise it would have been rubbish thrown at them. The stewards barely held back 3 or 4 fans who tried to get them binners.

Bigleyyellow''s post is correct - "what you done was a public order offence and potentially inciting the crowd."

Sounds like the copper was doing his job; he could have taken it further, but it sounds as if he did the common sense thing. You got a minor boll***ing instead of £80 out of your wallet; get over it.

Worrying times...in a few years when we are all forced to carry ID cards there will be more and more "papers please" under any pretext.

http://www.no2id.net/

Is swearing in public an offence now? Most uncouth of you though Jas! Did you give your name as "the Barclay King" to the officer?

Re the Ipswich fans in the home stands - they should have known better, but that is no excuse to try and attack them.

No I mean outside the stadium...  Obviously I''m not stupid enough to suggest or think we could milx fans during the match... But outside there''s not going to be a problem.  They grouped together the fans (like they do when we are at portman road) and marched them to their coaches which I Think is ott.  But if you were an ipswich fan in a car you could walk around the stadium past the norwich fans.

Also, I mean you see other derbys kicking off 3pm on a sat (I know this one was different as it was on sky before you say) but they seem to think norwich and ipswich fans are so bad it needs moving to a sunday, when there are worse fans than us.

I''m sorry but I really cannot see how ou relate me saying there''s too many police and its ridiculous to ''we should mix the fans'', it''s a strange one, oh well.

I have seen enough run-ins with coppers to know how much of a bunch of idiots most of them are...  I mean, the hassle some guys get for a few swears at people who can''t even hear them 30 yards away seperated by innumerable officers in the corner!!  Pathetic.

Difficult to police a game.....  You lot must love the overtime for a relaxing standing in the sun creating problems if you are bored.

What about when  a QPR Keeper was attacked by a fan, after about 2 minutes finally stewards appeared to break it up.  What on earth the coppers were doing while this assault went on I will never know.

It becomes entirely obvious how bad it must be to live in a police state - all the power handed to these jerks....   A bunch of jackasses in the main.

Further to the comments about goading ipswich fans in a box just feet away from a very heated Norwich city crowd. Its odd that it is deemed inciteful for someone to be seen drinking an alcolholic beverage in clear view of the crowd outside - but not inciteful for some fat spare part with a balding head and a daft goatee beard to be waving his arms around and mocking the aformentioned crowd. Would love to bump into that prat in a dark alleyway.

Its all about getting the balance right-there is no doubt some of the uniforms are "looking for a bit of action" as are some of the spectators. The majority of the uniforms take a more relaxed view with a bit of banter etc. As for sticking your finger up-wow! It does appear that the police presence is too high and the question needs to be asked-does this provoke trouble? As for the two Ipswich guys at the River End-the stewards were slow to react and taking them along the front of the crowd was inept to say the least. In fairness the behaviour of some of the Norwich fans during this incident was out of order-its just a game of football which some of us take our kids along to enjoy. The message must be to grow up.

The level of policing for every game is proportionate to the intel they receive.Whether you like it or not the amount of policing on Sunday proved to be adequate.I understand that there was only one arrest (Ips fan) and no major incidents. There was a large group of Norwich fans that attempted to ''get to'' the Ips crowd as they were escorted back to their coaches and trains.Had the police not been there it would definately have been a large case of disorder.People who travelled by car, I''m informed, were advised to park at the coach park too.Obviously there will be people who indepentently travel and that cannot be avoided.Perhaps you''d like to write to the Chief of Norfolk Constabulary and ask to be involved in next years match day proceedings and have look from behind the scenes........I truly believe you''ll be surprised!Either way, they''re not going to please everybody all of the time.I appreciate those that were subjected to ''heavy handed'' tactics will be annoyed - that, I cannot defend.Let''s just imagine if they hadn''t been there and it had all ''kicked off'' and there were numerous innocent people injured???Hmmm, let me think of the slating they would''ve got then.Apologies for the ''tool'' insult, but I cannot see how keeping a match day a safe place to be can be critised so much???Damned if they do, damned if they don''t eh?

Wrong???  sticking your finger up at an Ipswich fan at a local derby!!  That could be an £80 fine for a public order offence!  You are kidding mate - maybe in the nanny state we are becoming such banter is ''wrong''.

To be fair however we arent the worst... at least we don''t have it this bad: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/6385849.stm

At least they have the excuse of being a backwards country.

Quick, lock him up the dastardly wretch!!
