First Wizard 0 Posted July 2, 2007 I know I''m mad but I thought I''d ask/start a football question/topic on here!.I see from todays Pink Un:http://new.pinkun.com/content/ncfc/story.aspx?brand=PINKUNOnline&category=Norwich&tBrand=PinkUnOnline&tCategory=Norwich&itemid=NOED02%20Jul%202007%2010%3A09%3A32%3A650That Dickson Etuhu could well be off again to Derby, any thoughts?. Now I like the big guy a lot, but the few times I''ve watched him play last season, he''s dissapointed me a bit, is it time to cut our losses or should we stick with him?.Peter Grant has said he still wants him here........well?. Northern Canary 0 Posted July 2, 2007 If a good offer comes in i would let him go due to his previous periods of inconsistent form, however i think we should look to hold on to players as our squad needs depth with quality which Etuhu can provide. The additions so far look promising but will there be much progress if a player is sold for every new player that comes in?
Duffman 0 Posted July 2, 2007 He needs to stay. He is a major player for us, he just doesnt get the credit he deserves from some fans.
macdougalls perm 0 Posted July 2, 2007 I hope we can keep him here, he obviously has huge potential and, imo, there were signs last season that Grant might be the bloke to bring it out of him. On his day, he is exactly the kind of player we need - I personally hope we can keep hold of him.
Gentleman Jim 0 Posted July 2, 2007 In my opinion he must not go, some of his performances last season were awesome, especially in the home derby (no pun intended) .If PG is worthy his self expressed managerial ability then he will turn him into a really great player. IMHO.
In Dubious Battle 0 Posted July 2, 2007 depends how much we can get for him, i reckon if they offer a seven figure sum we should bite their hand off.
nutty nigel 7,902 Posted July 2, 2007 Etuhu played nearly every game for us last season. In him I saw a player who wanted to play for us but got all kinds of abuse from the fans, a lot of it unwarranted. Grant obviously rates him and wants him to stay. If Etuhu himself wants to stay then I believe our midfield will be built around him next season. He was signed by Worthington at a time where if he had signed Steven Gerrard we would have found fault. He was unfit when he got here and took a while to settle in. He has had the "boo boys" on his back ever since he got here. I believe he did enough last season to shake all that off.I hope he stays. Hairy Canary 754 Posted July 2, 2007 I''d be concerned if he went. Not so much that I think he''s brilliant because he''s too inconsistent for that, but who would we get to replace him? We have money to spend and I''d rather hear about people joining and putting preasure on first team places than leaving.
Cobain18 0 Posted July 2, 2007 Wiz i think we should stick with him unless we get an offer of 5 or 6 mil, which is overating him but also allows us to get back some of Earnie''s true value.
nolegs 0 Posted July 2, 2007 Can''t see Grant wanting to get rid,but who knows if there is another dodgy minimum amount release clause in his contract as well?
lobster catcher 0 Posted July 2, 2007 Are we missing the point here?We must keep him, billy davies is no idiot he must rate him ,lets turn him into the player he could be.Anyone who suggests good riddance must be mad
First Jedi 0 Posted July 2, 2007 If you can bank on Grants ability to dig out a bargin (i.e. Lappin for £75k), then the money raised by any sale should be positive thing. It''s a bit like the Earnie situation - in that case, it was better to take the money to improve the squad (we''re getting 3 or 4 players with Earnie money, before touching what we had in the bank)... but still, different from the Earnie situation is that the midfield is a point where we need to improve on (and not further regress by selling Etuhu) and with Earnie going through, we''re not short of transfer readies, so it might be better to keep him.If we bought a midfielder and had another lined up, I''d be changing my tune.I''d prefer to liquidise (or even sell! [;)]) Hughes...
Buncey 1 Posted July 2, 2007 We need to build a new midfield and we can''t build a new midfield without any players from which to build around. Euthu is that player, loads of potential, good in all areas and scores goals (indicated by good runs at the start and end of the season). I hear what people say that he''s too inconsistent but then again he was as consitent as the rest of his team and his best performances for me stood out with dion''s as being the best of a rather poor season.I remember having this debate 4ish years ago about francis and my opinion was the same. let''s hope he comes through like francis minus the big headed arrogancy. Grando 336 Posted July 2, 2007 Given our inability to make signings I would thought it would be a disaster if he were to go, particularly given the fragile and understaffed nature of our midfield. Yes, he''s inconsistent, but Dickson is a presence - and he seems to be improving (let''s just hope his recent yellow fever hasn''t knocked him back)...If we are going to sell him we should definitely:a) for once demand and receive an overpriced transfer feeb) have actually signed two central midfielders before he goes.
