First Wizard 0 Posted June 29, 2007 Because that what she clearly is!.I attended a forum at Gt Yarmouth way back when Mike ''God'' Walker was here for the second time. On the panel that night was that cook called Delia Smith. She was asked by a suppporter whether or not it was a bad thing for one person to have total control of a club by holding a majority shareholding. Remember, this was soon after Chase. She answerd very quickly with a very clear ''NO'', she then went went on a rant about how we have just suffered the awful results of one person (Chase) with that kind of power.THIS IS FACT! It was said not 15 foot in front of me and hundreds of other City fans were present too.Smith!, you''re a hypoctite, and thats not all.......................other things have also been said by her, ''expect a flurry of transfers'' etc, and just two players duly arrived!..............there is another word for that................but I''ll refrain from using it.And this woman thinks she owns this magnificent club of ours, well I''ve got news for her, she doesn''t, our superb fans do. She''s just a custodian of it, and she''s making us a national laughing stock, and destroying the clubs fine football reputation, because her catering empire comes first!.Thats why my hate for her won''t go away, it''ll go away, when she does!.[:@]

Stone Cold 0 Posted June 29, 2007 Sorry mate but I think you''ll find that as she owns a large amount of the clubs shares she does basicly own it ! If you want the fans to own it why not start a fans consortium to aquire the majority shareholding ?I''m sure a lot of people would back you up in that ! Indy_Bones 444 Posted June 29, 2007
And this woman thinks she owns this magnificent club of ours, well I''ve got news for her, she doesn''t, our superb fans do. She''s just a custodian of it, and she''s making us a national laughing stock, and destroying the clubs fine football reputation, because her catering empire comes first!.
Sorry Wiz, but that''s just a ridiculous statement.Whilst in a very generic sense fans do ''own'' a club, the reality is that the club IS owned by Smith. She is the majority shareholder and therefore by proxy is the owner of the club.Without the finances she and her husband have put into the club, we''d have potentially gone bust following the Chase debacle. As for destroying out fine football reputation, in real terms, we don''t particularly have a fine reputation, aside from being seen over the years as a club with a good attitude, that for a couple of seasons played some great football. There''s no major trophies in our history, no European cups, no back to back top flight league wins, so how is our current performance in reality, particularly any worse than normal - taken over the full course of the clubs history? If as you say the club IS owned by the fans, then I presume you can advise who is representing us in this respect, and you can then also advise exactly how much each of us - as owners, needs to contribute into the club to get the players in that we clearly need?I''d also like to know how I am a part owner of this club but have never been consulted even once on the running of the club or potential transfers, can you advise who I need to speak to about this? Perhaps we should speak to Malcolm Glazer @ Man Utd, to see how they collate the finances and views from their prjoected 75 million fans (or should I say owners?) worldwide. I presume they all pay £1 per season thus immediately giving the club - that they as fans own, £75 million per year as a transfer budget? Is it really that simple? Do we just need to generate 10 million or so fans for the club over the world, thus giving us a very healthy income and budget each season?

Wouldn''t it be the same as asking if a Prime Minister has too much power? Whether they are a good or bad Prime Minister is surely more important. Also didn''t Delia bring in the share issue, which puts some power / club ownership in the hands of the fans. And didn''t she get two new investors in this summer, who will no doubt have a say? Isn''t Mr Wynn Jones a majority shareholder too?
Branston Pickle 4,152 Posted June 29, 2007 What is slightly odd is that it has taken quite this long for Wiz to put this into words on here, the incident to which he refers must have been over 5 years ago!

As I have stated on here numerous times...without her we would still have Norwich City Football Club in whatever mess she leaves it in. Without us she would have empty stands and racks full of unsold merchandise....So who actually needs who to survive? The answer to that is very simple indeed. She and her cohorts may well have pieces of paper claiming ownership....but the spirit will always belong to the fans and that is beyond purchase.....for most of us anyway. Syteanric 1 Posted June 29, 2007 whilst being sceptical of the board, and not fully convinced they will back Grant 100% to the level that he wants, and also being of the opinion that they are investing in off the field activities when the playing staff needs improvement i would like to point out that Delia hasnt actually lied...1 person isnt in sole control of the club.. 2 people are.. her and her husband are joint majority share holders...and u couldnt run a football club without someone owning the Majority of it... look at the buyout of Man city thats going ahead at the moment....jas :)

mbncfc 1 Posted June 29, 2007 I''m not sure I see how we can beat Delia with the ''no one person shold be in charge'' stick (which as said above isn''t strictly/arguably true).Yet plenty of people have stated how they''d be happy for someone/anyone to come in and take control of the club. The first thing they would do is enure they buy as many, if not all, of the shares available. that would be it. It would be theirs. End of.Can you have it both ways? Probably...
