littleyellowbirdie 3,103 Posted December 3, 2023 A hunter was out in the woods and came across a beautiful lady half naked under a tree looking alluringly at him. He looked at her disbelievingly and said: 'Cor. Are you game, luv?' 'Yes!' She replied with a seductive smile. So he shot her.

littleyellowbirdie 3,103 Posted December 8, 2023 I'm learning Portuguese on Duolingo at the moment. I had a fill in the verb question: A borbotleta <fill in verb> um livro (The butterfly <fill in verb> a book). My answer: A borboleta lê um livro (The butterfly reads a book) This was incorrect; the correct answer should have been: 'A borboleta escreve um livro' (the butterfly writes a book).

Duolingo is great...and funny. I did the Welsh course (over two years originally and still dip into it). The subject matter gets really interesting..... for instance about the Eisteddfod and archdruid and the chairing ceremony. Or, at a more basic cultural level, when Sioned gets asked if she wants a pint of cider - or two, or that there is a toilet outside of the pub!. There is some deeper material....like "there are no jobs here anymore" or "the village was a very poor one" or "I don't like hell". Even socialists are introduced in one of the topics. Good old Wales 🙂 Cannot help thinking the course was written by some people who had experience of living in the valleys. There again the course does provide both northern and southern Wales dialectical differences. Edited December 8, 2023 by sonyc

My favourite Larson, for obvious reasons

TheGunnShow 7,254 Posted December 23, 2023 Might as well chuck this one in as well. Dark sense of humour needed for this one.
