Just like their team wasn't ready on Saturday.

Supposedly the draw for the next round will be done before we play

Off topic a bit, but this reminds me of a fun fact: similar happened when QPR were in the UEFA cup in 1984, UEFA said no to playing their matches at Loftus Road due to their artificial (plastic) turf. QPR had to play their home European matches at Highbury!

Southampton play their game at Gillingham on Wednesday 9th.

Often the disadvantage of a trying mid-week fixture on tired legs is of benefit to Saturday opponents who do not have a game. I suppose at this early stage of the season it might be considered an advantage by improving match fitness and with giving managers  another chance to assess formations etc.

I don't suppose the Saints will field their strongest, but it will, at least, give Russel Martin another chance to have a good look at his players in genuine combat.

It does give City an extra couple of days - travelling down Weds and recovering Thurs.

I know it is supposed to even itself out, but how much better would it be for us to be playing QPR on Sat than S'ton. ?

S'ton after the window shuts might be a lesser team than now, and QPR may have sacked Ainsworth and got into some form by the time we visit Shthouse Road.
