keelansgrandad 6,679 Posted January 10, 2023 Couldn't get tickets, I expect they went to the leading lights and luminaries. However, all we would of seen is an old 747 taking off in the dark. The rocket launch was nearer Ireland than the UK. I would guess those who have their name down for going into orbit and reaching Australia in an hour are having second thoughts. littleyellowbirdie 2,585 Posted January 10, 2023 It'll be interesting to hear what happened. Launcher One had four successful launches in the US before this one. Every satellite launch has major possibilities for failure and many failures happen a year, though. Hopefully the second attempt comes quickly and is successful. benchwarmer 625 Posted January 10, 2023 The pictures are the wrong way round chronologically. The one with Boris was taken while he was still PM. It appears he was airbrushed after the launch went pearshaped. Distancing himself . . .?

He didn't want the Catholics to get their feet under the table again so he and a few of his other Bishops told the King he was wrong. Daft thing to do and he was imprisoned. There was never 20 thousand Cornishmen wanting to know why. They were still busy walking home. The 20 thousand were nearer 15 about 200 years before Trelawney when An Gof (Cornish for blacksmith) protested about taxes. But in true tradition of yarns, just blur and mix the truth a little and you get the better story. That is how they began politics in this country. Cornwall Live posted Rocket Fails. Its next headline was Fire in Falmouth. So at least we know where it landed. 1

Foxy2600 305 Posted January 11, 2023 Hopefully the UK CAA can now extricate its head from its Virgin Orbit Spaceport Cornwall ar$e and get back to its more important work of improving civil aviation in the UK such as passenger experience, comfort and safety. My take on the failure? Four successful launches in sunny Long Beach. One failed Stage 2 ignition - origin Newquay Cornwall in the pis$ing rain.
