PockthorpePete 331 Posted October 1, 2022 If it was in your gift to have one back fit and rearing to go for Reading, who would it be ? Giannoulis, Sorensen, Idah, McCallum ? What about Hayden finally getting on the pitch ? And apart from Cantwell (ill) there doesn't seem to be anyone who was left out today. Byram appears to be doing a good a job as either of the two LBs. Not convinced about Idah, other than as back up. To play all the 16 available (using subs) leaves us down to the bare bones currently. I appreciate it is harder for other teams without our strength in depth. But that only goes as far as the starting 11 and four or five subs.
Ian 1,211 Posted October 1, 2022 For me Giannoulis would give us that natural balance and width we are lacking at the moment, so if I had to pick one, he would be my choice . Â
KeiranShikari 1,524 Posted October 1, 2022 I think the answer to that is almost certainly Hayden. With the rise of Sagent I'd say he's our only irreplaceable player and we've not even seen him yet.
Hairy Canary 753 Posted October 2, 2022 Gibbs. If we have a weakness it’s the same old defensive midfielder problem so it would be Gibbs or Hayden. As Gibbs was doing well and improving when he got injured and we haven’t seen Hayden play yet I go for him. On top of that he’s one of our own so we would benefit from him getting a season developing at this level
AJ 1,358 Posted October 2, 2022 Gibbs. Easily proved himself so far this season, I’d say his return is probably more important than LB which is easier to fill in Byram or McLean
Nuff Said 5,960 Posted October 2, 2022 But Gibbs played yesterday?? Has to be Hayden for me, surprised given the frequency complaints about not signing two CDMs everyone hasn’t said him . But for the long-term I’d make a cheeky nod to Idah. If we can get him sparking (and staying fit), it gives us more hope if we go up.
TIL 1010 5,246 Posted October 2, 2022 As for Hayden how can you miss someone we have never seen kick a ball ?
Capt. Pants 5,008 Posted October 2, 2022 Gibbs for me. I know he played a few minutes yesterday but who knows if he will start against Reading. This is also the 100% version of Gibbs, the point in time when he got injured. I can't say Hayden as I haven't seen him play. He hasn't played a minute for us yet and might be totally unsuited to the way we play. Many of our previous signings have been!
