we could have done more,

self funding model,

no new billionaire willing to burn money,

working within limitations,

Covid disruptive pre season,

Missing main targets,

We go again next season for promotion,

More athlectic strong players next time.

So, given we know now that an interview with Webber is all set to come out in the next 24 hours what do we think he's going to say then?

I even made a little bingo 😉

Take your pick....as long as it's an ice-pick.....

This could be the making of my signings...needed time to settle in, difficult transition...great lads, gained great experience...I know they will come good...I saw something in them. 🤣

Most unlikely thing to say - I'm searching the World for a couple of decent holding midfielders.

The most predictable thing is that people are upset about the responses before the interview has been published and they'll be even more gnashing of teeth once it's been aired.

Followed by days and days of analysis of every word and phrase until someone demands another interview because they didn't like the content of the one we've just had.

Jim will make something up.

Vince will blame the socialists.

Essex Canary will complain that he didn't get tickets for Chelsea away and request a freebie for people with 1,000 shares.

Lots of other people will miss the point that he's trying to make.

You need perfect pre-season, need every signing to work.  Comfortably relegated.

Pre-season made start impossible, blaming it on Covid, once behind curve cannot catch up.  Belief disappeared, fans gave up quickly and local media were on their back from the start.

'How quickly people went after them surprised him.  We accepted being average too quickly.  It starts with "us" and ends with "us".

He thinks business done last year was okay.  The rules they deal with lead to the money being spread too thinly.  Getting maximum value from Buendia's fee.  If only replaced him with one player would not be good enough, so spread it thinly.  They looked for future value (back to the model).  We communicate more than any other club on what we do!

Alice doesn’t sit on the fence, hard hitting questions guaranteed.

If we get things wrong we don't have a club.  Toughest part of job is balancing ambition with survival.  If we make mistakes we go bust.

Mentions European winners in the Chumps squad losing half their salary.  They are still trying to understand why they didn't bridge the gap. There are leagues within leagues, we have to ignore outside talk, internally focus on the productivity in the academy.  Today start on the stage of construction at Colney, to build a legacy for the next 30-40 years.  Refuses to focus on his future, he doesn't want to leave a mess, wants to leave something to build for the next 40 years.  Can't get caught up in the relegation, but understands fans getting up set over this. We talk about keeping the club in the EPL every day.  Mentions the second season syndrome, he doesn't want to chase that!  Brentford will be same as Huddersfield, Sheff Utd, we could have been them, but he doesn't want that!

Believes they have still done well off the pitch. Want expectations to be higher (nervous tic at this point).  Fans are fantastic, had more positivity from them than negativity.  The fans and the area are brilliant.

On sacking Farke, nothing changes by staying the same, it was an incredibly difficult decision, but if we didn't do something we wouldn't stay up.  Part of the decision was about the future.  Only Board and he knew about the decision, Farke didn't. It was horrific listening to some of things said about Farke. Because it was an international break, they had to time it then because players were flying away straight after return to Colney.

Tbh, he can't really say anything to make me feel he has done a good job last season. There's nothing that I can see that is positive about this but he is forced by an interview like this to pretend there is and picking over it won't help anyone.

That's why I'm not really interested by what he has to say, talk is cheap. The relevant thing is if he proves to be right over the next few years, and we will only see that in about 24 months time.

On the Times interview, clarifies the interview was about his personal life, he's allowed one, accepts some words were taken out of context.  On 90%, he says people in his job don't usually talk, he is not hear to appease people and be popular.  He has had support from people doing similar job elsewhere.   His commitment has always been 100%.  He said if he does stay can he have 10% back for personal life, to be more with family.  He trains before work (at 5am in Colney) not during the working day.

The people he works with know he is obsessive, to be the best they can be.  He feels they have been the best they can be so far!

Looking ahead, still don't have a lot of money for the summer, if sold one or two would help.  At Chumps level have good squad with lot of depth, mentioned Onel & Todd, not too many holes, important to get a couple of players in, what Dean wants is slightly different. Don't forget the emergence of academy players.

Injuries to Idah and Omo hurt a lot, both physical and of the quality you need in EPL.  The two up front formula changed the dynamics.  It's not a fluke we continue to produce those type of players.
