pete 372 Posted November 19, 2021 3 at the back and back to 2 CB's. Zonal Marking and back to man to man. Creativity in the middle more than the singular reliance on Normann provided by Todd and Billy. A midfield capable of protecting the defence. Selections based on ability and not favouritism. Proper man management and not singling individuals out for banishment without cause. And a wish list of more goals and clean sheets are a requisite. Not much to ask for but little of this under Farke at PL level. Heresy I know but however good he was his past his sell by date. ..

yellowandgreen 34 Posted November 19, 2021 I’d like to see the return of game changing substitutions and last gasp winners.
AJ 1,359 Posted November 19, 2021 Definitely sounds like we might have seen the end of Zonal Marking based on his comments

dylanisabaddog 6,149 Posted November 19, 2021 If we stop zonal marking we would be one of the very few teams in the top 4 leagues in Europe to do so. Very worrying

Google Bot 3,936 Posted November 19, 2021 (edited) Smith picked up wins against Man Utd and Everton with a 3-5-2 this season, so don't rule out 3 CB's. I think he prefers to go zonal on set pieces too? As mentioned above, there's a big difference between well executed zonal marking and not. I don't care what system we use, as long as it's implemented as best as possible. That said, we haven't the largest squad, If we allow big forwards to nod home with Aarons eye-line with their rear ends then that needs to be sorted. It starts asking 'are we going to see the end of' then lists a couple of things that we might stop doing, but then goes on with a list of things we might do. Maybe change it to 'are we going to see...' then add 'the end of' to the first two items?
