Farke says 'Championship toughest league in the world'

Recommended Posts

Interesting comment. Not sure I agree, but I can see where he is coming from. The nonstop onslaught of games is pretty brutal, as is the good quality of most teams in the top half.

Sure can tire you out and wear you down pretty easily no doubt- Nevermind the quality of some pitches 😉

The championship is pound for pound the best league in the world. It’s not the same with no fans but it’s always unbearably tight all the way up until the end and provides goals, physicality, non-stop games. It’s just the best.

No VAR, No prima Donna's, (well less!), less playacting / gamesmanship in Championship.

The gap in between the top / bottom of the prem is much larger that that in the championship.

Championship to me is a much better product.

I suppose you could argue the further down the pyramid, its even tougher because let alone the rewards, the conditions are much tougher.

However - the game is arguably played slower at those levels

Couple of seasons ago I watched a post match interview after one of the FA Cups games, when the lower league team had played really well / held their own, and scored a cracker. Whilst I cant remember the match, I remember the manager saying that all players have ability, the only difference is consistency, and prem league players are more likely to reach their personal heights on a more regular basis.

It really isn't the toughest league. We saw for ourselves how relentless the Premier League is. Make a mistake and the ball ends up in the back of your net. Far more margin for error in the lower leagues.

Probably read the original quote. He refers to the physicality and amount of games in close proximity, not the quality of the opposition in comparison to the Premier League.

He clearly says in the quote that it's the toughest league 'physically' -  I think most people would agree with him.

We all want to get to the Prem, but I've really enjoyed our seasons in the championship recently (and let's face it, winning is nice). The promotion season under AN with a trip to Wembley, the 2nd season under Farke where we had a nice battle with Leeds on our way up and this season has been great (despite not being able to attend).

It's much better than parking the bus every week against Man Utd, Liverpool etc. That said, I hope if we go up we can make it work this time, we looked good for the first quarter of last season before we became the whipping boys
