Shame we’ll probably never see him in a City shirt, probably cash in next summer for a few million profit.

Considering the fact he's at Telstar due to work permit issues, the transfer market in these COVID times has really slowed down and he's just bagged two goals for Telstar in the Dutch second division, not scored six in a Champions League final, in what universe will that ever happen?

Not true, apparently. Signed within a Premier League window which is obviously more lax with work permit rules.

Talk about missing the point.

What is your point? He’s not eligible to play for us as things are so out on loan where he can play. If he doesn’t get full international status in the next couple seasons he won’t play for us.

As he was signed for nothing pretty sure we’ll sell for a couple million profit.

Whats your point?

It was literally said on the day that we signed him in July that he had to be loaned out this season to comply with work permit requirements.

It was stated very clearly in the Pink'un article that announced his signing.

I'm just repeating what Michael Baily has said, so it could be wrong.

Doesn't say it on the club's official site.

Doesn't say it on the club's official site.

His own agent confirmed that he had a work permit application rejected in England and if you simply search "Sebastian Soto Work Permit" in google you'll see dozens of results.

It remains possible that he'll never be eligible for that work permit, but the club considered it worth a punt and signed him anyway.

His chances will increase significantly if he plays for the US senior team and plays regularly for Telstar, and he was called up for games which were later cancelled due to the pandemic. Once he's got a few international caps under his belt we'll try again.

Blimey, never expected this thread would produce an argument. He didn't have a work permit but hopes to get selected for the US. He has every chance because this fella is very driven. In the meantime, why wouldn't we want him to do well for Telstar and score tons of goals. The lad has stated he hopes to play in the yellow and green. I'm sure we are tracking him closely.

Also second top scorer behind Haaland in the U20 World Cup, he's the US national teams big hope up top.

Fair enough. Like I said, only repeating what Baily has said.

Who wouldn’t want to see him in a yellow shirt starting at Carrow Road, who knows if we get a new trade agreement with the US next year work permit issues between the two countries could be changed.

The point is that one year on loan in the Dutch second division isn't going to attract the attention of any club willing to buy Soto for a couple of million.

It just wouldn't happen.

So to say we'll "probably" never see him in a City shirt because he's going to get sold for profit is just so wide of the mark it's a really stupid suggestion.

Indy c'mon have some faith. A loan to Shrewsbury or MK Dons at least.

Don't forget that the person negotiating the deal is a City supporter, I'm sure an exemption for Soto is second on Liz Truss's list after her obsession with cheese. 😀
