And 43 other Republican controlled states are preparing law changes. Call it democracy? You lose an election and instead of altering your candidate and policies, you alter the way you vote. Appalling! As well as radically reducing the number of places an individual can vote the new regulations include, among many other things, making it illegal to provide water or food for people queueing to vote. The blatant attempt to deter voters is shamelessly transparent.

Rock The Boat 1,332 Posted March 28, 2021 Excellent news that postal vote fraud is being tackled at last. Next they should get rid of any electronic counting device. X's in boxes is the safest way to ensure the vote is done in a non-partisan way. Leicester and Peterborough both examples of how postal voting corrupts the system. Didn't hear any complaints when 1.1 million postal votes were not accounted for during the Brexit election. Fact is, they just weren't returned. But when you right wingers lose, its always rigged. I'd suggest you just grow up. The police told sour grapes Farage there was no irregularity in Peterborough. Farage believed they would win and when he didn't he looked for a reason. When he realised people knew he is a one trick pony, he used the only excuse his fuddled and pathetic mind could come up with. He is a disgrace. In Peterborough, the Labour Party brought in Mr. Tariq Mahmood as an agent with particular expertise in postal voting. Such was his expertise he was convicted in 2008 of fabricating votes for the 2004 Peterborough council election. A report by the Electoral Commission published in 2014 identified 16 local authority areas, including Peterborough, where there was a greater risk of cases of alleged electoral fraud being reported. These were all areas which are known to have a significant South Asian presence and the authors reported receiving strongly held views about electoral fraud being ‘more likely to be committed by or in support of candidates standing for election in areas which are largely or predominately populated by some South Asian communities, specifically those with roots in parts of Pakistan or Bangladesh.’ The Electoral Commission subsequently commissioned a report about Understanding Electoral Fraud Vulnerability in Pakistani and Bangladeshi Origin Communities. The authors identified seven main sources of vulnerability to fraud and recommended several solutions including stricter and more transparent guidelines to political parties and candidates on postal vote handling. Just a few months later, this issue became national news when the Mayor of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets was removed from office after he was found guilty of electoral fraud. The case also prompted the government to ask Sir Eric Pickles to carry out an independent review into electoral fraud. A series of 50 recommendations were outlined in the report, including clamping down on postal vote ‘harvesting’ by political activists. Subsequent research also outlined how community leaders or elders can ‘take advantage of the postal voting on demand system to commit personation and tamper with ballots.’ Perhaps the Electoral Commission needs to grow up? I have been a poll clerk many times (packed it in when only 27 turned up all 15 hours for the Police Commissioner vote) and the amount of times I have heard the cry "who is it I have to vote for?" . Of course there are any amount of peculiarities in an election but for anyone to believe the US election was corrupt on the scale they are saying is actually beyond belief. Mr Scheller said his client planned on pleading guilty in the coming weeks but was waiting to see the proposed agreement from prosecutors. The federal child sex trafficking case against Mr Greenberg sparked a separate investigation into Mr Gaetz, according to The New York Times.
