It will be interesting to see if the perils of drinking are deemed as devastating as the perils of gambling. Both can have horrendous consequences for some but not others...
Was just thinking the same thing Nutty, I suspect not.

Gambling cynically targets the most vulnerable in society; clearly and *deliberately* designed to rope people into something that 99% of the time will leave the house better off.

Alcohol, without question, has a hugely negative impact on some peoples'' lives, but I don''t believe has anywhere near the level of artificial engineering and manipulation that casinos, fruit machines, and bookies have.

At the very least you have to go somewhere to buy a pint, with mobile gambling you can sit anywhere and pop a few hundred quid of credit into a virtual slot machine...

Look at the amount of time and money that supermarkets put in deliberately placing certain items in certain areas at specific levels - it''s designed to rope people into buying certain products, and this is particularly obvious when it comes to stuff aimed at kids.

That''s a completely ridiculous ''Apples to Oranges'' comparison.
I will also point out that there are FAR more issues coming from drinking on a day to day basis, than there ever will be with gambling, I don''t see gamblers throwing tables and chairs after a skinful watching the England match, I don''t see gamblers walking out of casino''s at 2pm and starting random fights with anyone (or everyone), I don''t see gamblers constantly named in the press for having run over an innocent person because they''d had one too many bets...
If Alcohol hadn''t already been discovered and was found today, it would immediately be banned because of how dangerous and damaging it can be.
At the very least you have to go somewhere to buy a pint, with mobile gambling you can sit anywhere and pop a few hundred quid of credit into a virtual slot machine...
And in neither case does anyone force you to do it, so what if it''s ''easy'' to put a bet on? You still have to register an account and go through a few hoops to begin with, which is just like your ''walk to the pub'', and again - nobody forces you to do it, if people with pi$$ poor willpower and total lack of judgement decide to gamble their house away, that''s their failure, not the bookies/casino''s fault.
I presume you also blame pubs for people being alcoholics if that''s the logic being applied?

Wincarnis could sponsor the Geoffrey Watling Stand.

Mind you that may offend the vegetarian teetotallers, but looking at some of the old beggars in the GW stand, they look like they feasted on both.

All I know is gambling won me money yesterday and alcohols given me a headache this morning. Thus gambling is better. [:)]
