lake district canary 4,540 Posted January 13, 2016 Terrific tonight. The way he holds on to the ball with tenacity, strength and skill is something to behold. My favourite player, on this form.
Wishbone 8 Posted January 13, 2016 Agreed. His hold up play and skill at playing simple balls to keep people in play is top notch.
Cantiaci Canary 558 Posted January 13, 2016 Excellent player ... hope we can bring in someone as good to rival him up top.
GJP 79 Posted January 13, 2016 Just wish he was a bit more mobile/had a bit more pace. But then he might not been on loan here if he did.
havemyhowsonit 0 Posted January 14, 2016 Yes I like mbokani. It''s ok holding the ball up but strikers are paid to score goals.
CanaryOne 0 Posted January 14, 2016 Great hold up play but carries almost zero goal threat , goals win games .
The Great Wall Of Tettey 0 Posted January 14, 2016 I felt he did exceptionally given the circumstances of losing a man so early. His game is clearly holding the ball up, getting in the box and letting the attacking midfielders join forward. You lose a man the entire attacking dimension changes and that was pretty evident tonight, hoolahan had to drop in deep to cover leaving him all but isolated chasing scraps all evening. I would be extremely interested to see how he gets on in this sustained run in the side with 2 from Jarvis/Redmond/Brady on the wings, extra width and balls in the box but I think that having ofoe & Howson out wide we may have been better starting with jerome
The Great Wall Of Tettey 0 Posted January 14, 2016 Also forgot to add he''s got the same amount of goals in half the appearances as jerome at the minute. Unless we''re going to be signing a new striker then I''d rather slightly adapt tactics to suit him and we will be successful
Samwam27 531 Posted January 14, 2016 Alartz and Canary One both said it. He may hold up play brilliantly, he may be a beast, but he''s not scoring goals.IMO we need to play two up front with Mbokani to get the best from him. If AN doesn'';t change his system he''ll be gone at end of season, we could be in trouble, and they''ll be no point whatsoever bringing in another striker, cuz they''ll never play! Katie Borkins 1 Posted January 14, 2016 The fact he isn''t scoring goals is a consequence of the system and not the player.

YorkshirePudding 0 Posted January 14, 2016 Christ on a stick! People saying Mbokani carries no goal threat - he has finished pretty much all the feasibly scorable chances he''s been presented with. He doesn''t get a lot of service, and especially yesterday when we were down to ten against a good team. ''strikers are paid to score goals''This is just plain wrong, they are paid to be professional footballers that contribute to the team through whatever qualities they bring

Mbokani did well in his general play, and got in the box for crosses, etc, but all the crosses that were directed at him were nowhere near. Got to look at the level of service he gets.Same with RvW too. Our midfielders just does not produce enough chances for our strikers in the system we play. Instead, the system is design for the striker to create chances for onrushing midfielders.Find it hard to blame Mbokani for not scoring when he very rarely gets a sniff of a chance. Must be frustrating for him.
grefstad 0 Posted January 14, 2016
....I think that having ofoe & Howson out wide we may have been better starting with jerome
Agree completely. For me, it was strange to start Mbokani when we tucked in on the wings with Howson and VOO.If you got less mobile winger, you will need a mobile forward.Instead we got a rather immobile forward combined with immobile wingers. Not good.Jarvis/Redmond/Mbokani will be good.if we play to keep it tight, Howson/VOO/Jerome.
ball bag 0 Posted January 14, 2016 He was excellent, hold up, distribution, in the air. He will score given decent service. His first touch and deft passes are very neat and classy. Number one choice up front without question. His work rate and awareness, through to positioning is very very good. He did an outstanding shift last night given the circumstances. Budapest Canary 152 Posted January 14, 2016
Just wish he was a bit more mobile/had a bit more pace. But then he might not been on loan here if he did.
Pretty much what I think. With some of Jerome''s pace/mobility he''d be an Ighalo. Yet and still a good and likable option.
Lessingham Canary 99 Posted January 14, 2016 He was excellent last night, up against Shawcross, & co, he battled, showed great composure, clever passes and took the pressure of the team a lot, only one real chance and maybe could have reacted quicker, but definitely his best City performance yet.
