Ok, my best guess is that you should not take the bet because the odds offered are not better than the actual odds of achieving a 6. I might be barking up the wrong tree, but, the odds on each die of not rolling a 6 are 5/6. So, with three rolls that’s 125/216 or around 58%. That means there is a 42% chance of achieving a 6 whereas odds of 11/10 suggest a 48% chance. I think. I’ve been in the pub with Morty for three hours so...

Except it is that simple because we are talking about rolling a solitary, fair die three times. So it’s (21x21x21)/1. Admittedly, it’s a long while since I did any Maths, but that’s the answer I’d have given.

It does. But that’s for an individual roll. The OP was talking about it happening 3 times in a row. So, the odds of that happening multiply. The odds for each individual event, as you state, remain constant and are in no way influenced by the previous event. So while the chance of rolling three in a row are cubed, once the first two have been rolled, the odds of rolling the third are the same as rolling the first one was originally. However, before the dice is touched the odds of rolling 3 consecutive same numbers are (21x21x21)/1.

If the £3m figure mooted on here is accurate it would only cost each season ticket holder £140 each and then we could sponsor our own shirts, leave them blank, print “Fresh Air” on them or whatever and the club wouldn’t miss out on the revenue. Everyone up for it?

Quite. I keep reading how gambling ruins lives and undoubtedly it does and will continue to do so. The regulation is tightening though which will make it more difficult for people to get in so deep. All kinds of things connected to big business ruins lives though and to which degree do we take our moral obligation as a football club? The petrol engine has been bad for the environment, pollution has increased the number of young asthma sufferers and can be a life limiting illness. We should perhaps get rid of the car park. Especially as ease of access to motorised transport means children exercise less as they don’t walk anywhere, this in turn contributes to obesity and subsequently heart disease, diabetes...ruining lives. Large sports manufacturers have appalling history of sweatshop use and of children working for a pittance to produce their goods. Undoubtedly, that ruins lives. We should ensure thorough background checks on all players boots, match balls etc Junk food ruins lives. We should stop selling pies, sausage rolls, chips, hot dogs etc As for alcohol. Well, we know. Best knock that on the head too. Yes, I know I’m being flippant but as Nutty points out, none of it is illegal and in each case we’re doing as others do to maximise revenue. We’ll sell car park permits, crap food and sweets, booze, mass produced replica sportswear and have a gambling company as a sponsor. In fact, I’d be VERY surprised if there was a company out there that would be willing or able to offer us a sponsorship deal on this level that somebody, somewhere wouldn’t find morally reprehensible. Whether that be through the product itself, the industry, tax avoidance, labour or any multitude of other reasons. All we we can do is act as we see fit and be responsible for our own moral compass. If you feel that strongly about Dafabet; don’t buy a shirt and most definitely don’t have a bet. Personally, it simply doesn’t bother me in the slightest. 🤷‍♂️

Didn’t they instigate a lot of change at Colney last year too? Perhaps this is phase two of a plan to try and go with ‘best in class’ across the whole club? I mean that with no disrespect to those on their way out as I’m in no position to assess their abilities. With redundancy involved though I suppose they have to create new positions as opposed to replacing like for like. Streamlining AND optimising? 🤷‍♂️

Surely though, even if we retained the points system people would pay more than £30? Say that tickets for Liverpool went on sale at 1200 points for the first window, that’s a season ticket and 4 away games or around £700ish. Again, you wouldn’t genuinely get a £30 ticket unless they went to general sale? Or is that different?

While I think ‘additional benefits’ might be over-egging; I also think that dismissing the £50 as just giving you a chance of a ticket is underselling it. Yes, if all 6,000 apply for every game then it is a chance, but they won’t and I’d be surprised if there are many occasions where somebody who has parted with £50 can’t get a ticket for a particular game. I’m sure there will be instances (Bournemouth, West Ham and Tottenham seem to be most likely to me) but they have thoroughly researched the available data with regard to how many fans tickets have to be made available to before an allocation sells out and it is normally way in excess of 6,000. We wont really know until we see it in action?

From a purity of product perspective it is different because of the imposed £30 price cap. So, in essence, if the club charge a membership fee and you require a membership to obtain an away ticket, you will always be paying more than £30 for your ticket. I assume the work around is that the membership offers additional benefits (?) and THAT is what you pay for?

As if to emphasise my final point, I don’t know how many of you are on Facebook or follow the clubs official Facebook account, but there are some really valid points being made on there by fans from all over. However, they’re being lost in a cacophony of argument as fans willy-wave over their entitlement/loss of. The launch of the scheme has undoubtedly been handled poorly but getting stuck into each other over who is the most loyal, most committed, has been going the longest, most deserves an away ticket is all a bit silly.

Yep. I mean, it could be that the actual panic over getting tickets might be misplaced. Tottenham and West Ham would be the two games initially that stand out as having the most potential for disappointments simply because they’re London and new stadia. That Spurs is midweek might help in that respect but we won’t know until it’s up and in action.
