And it should be! 😂 Nah, I mean, it really depends on what you're doing. If I was working for our wonderful football club, for example, I'd relish the chance to work ont he commercial side for them. I work in drinks now and that's pretty fun too. But it can be stressful, that's for sure! Just depends how you deal with it. -
Liverpool weaknesses

Not taking away from your initial point, but we didn't play a friendly at Carra before last season started either. The ground at Anfield isn't going to be ready until early Aug. So... that's why they're not playing any friendlies there. -
How do we tweak our defensive fragilities

Yes and I think it also shows the extreme inflation on player rates. This is a guy who was on loan in League One last year. Ok, he was one of Charlton's stand out players, but is he worth that? I guess, in this current market, yes. I know we could potentially spend a bit if we thought it was worth it. After seeing some of our defensive frailties last night I think it would be. Of course, we all know to get the kind of player we need we'd be paying mega money. -

I think that will be very good business for them. The fact we can be outbid by Championship teams is pretty mad, but I guess we all knew what was coming! (Not saying we were in for Bielik at all, but more that it's unlikely we'll spend big) -

Yeah I love Tettey, don't get me wrong. I just think we need an upgrade. It is clear to me and others, as it has been for a while, that the way we play is sometimes going to require a 'destroyer' type in that DM position. I suggested a while back that Leitner, McLean etc. could play there and kind of got shot down but I've also seen others say it now too! Point is, and I include Trybull in that, they can do that quarter-back type of thing but they're not, for the most part, going to charge around the pitch and make important interceptions in front of defence. The way we play, with pushing the full backs on and CB's stepping out of defence and playing quite high up the pitch, requires such precision. If we lose the ball while in that formation it always puts us on the back foot. So, although I love Tettey, I feel we need someone with the similar defensive abilities but more energy. Keep them back in case of such breaks. They may not need to play every game but it would be great to have the option. -
No? I did! Some of his kicking barely reached the half way line and he didn't look as comfortable with his feet as I thought he would. Agreed, it is his first proper start in some time and probably first 90 mins for a while too. I'm sure he'll improve as he has excellent pedigree. I also thought the defenders being allowed in the box from a goalkick caused him some confusion. He often didn't know who to look for in those situations and instead attempted to kick it long.

I totally agree! I thought Fahrmann was shaky last night. Tim will undoubtedly be supporting him but I bet he was pleased to see a few mistakes creeping out with Ralf too. I don't think our line up for Liverpool will be too far away from what we started with last night... Here's how I think it'll go- Krul Lewis Klose Godfrey Aarons Trybull Leitner Buendia Roberts Stiepi (perhaps TC after such a good performance last night) Pukki

Yes, that salary is quite normal. When I was a very young pup (about 19) I got a job at the EDP. It was just before it stopped being ECN and changed to Archant. I then worked there on and off for some time. However, in my first couple of years I was offered journalism work experience, as that is what I wanted to do with my life, initially. I enjoyed it, was taken under the wing of Stacia Briggs and Derek James who was still there at the time. However, I found it pretty difficult to write for other people when, until that point, I had been writing for myself really. Anyway, after a few random vox pops things, a feature on the city hall clock, something about a wedding and a feature on a new music studio they offered me the opportunity to go on their journo training course (which I'm not sure they do anymore). I was working in sales and on about 17-18k basic. This job was going to offer me 12k! I couldn't take such a pay cut and I ended up continuing in sales. I don't regret it, really, but I've been stuck with commercial roles ever since and sometimes would like to break free. But the reality is, you can make fairly decent money if you're alright at sales. It seems something like journalism only pays well if and when you start writing for nationals etc. It's a much more honourable job than what I do though! Haha... -

Even Farke jumped on the DM wagon last eve... "Good news. No surgery for Alex. We have to handle it in a predictable way, although we don't know how many days it will last," he said. "I am looking forward to having him back because in this type of game you would wish you could throw a defensive-minded player into the game." Would prefer an upgrade on Tettey tbh. -

No I think we'll get one or two more in before transfer window slams shut. -

Godfrey went the other way, though, and that will be how he stays in my opinion. I totally appreciate what you're saying, but we won't be moving him from CB. We have four senior players in the position now, which is what we need heading into the Prem. If we have money, it will likely be spent on a DM. -

There's others in our squad capable of that, in midfield... I don't get the obsession with BG playing as a DM. We have seen how good he is at CB, so just trust Farke and roll with it. -

I wouldn't. Pretty happy with how he's progressed as a CB. You don't get many of them doing things like this.... -

He did have the highest pass completion rate out of any of our players but that was two seasons ago I think. Of course, when those stats were mentioned, it was all "yeah but they were ALL sideways and backwards!" Tis true that many of them were short passes, but his job isn't, and has never been, to make Hollywood passes. I'm glad we're keeping him around, as he's clearly a great influence on the team. He's also been there and done it when it comes to the Prem. Who knows, he may surprise us. But I still feel he may not have the legs and he has been getting injured a lot recently. So perhaps I should have said that he is now "becoming more injury prone" and we know that players tend to play a bit inside themselves in those situations. Thompson would have been another good option but I just can't see his injury issues ever going away... which is massively sad. -

Yep. Agreed. Although I do love dear Tettey, as I know you do too FTW, I feel as though he may not have the legs for it now! -

Oh we need a DM do we? In all seriousness, I get what you're saying. I feel that there likely will be a bit of money spent on "one or two more" quality additions. The work will have been ongoing for some time. A lot of it, we won't have a clue about at all and neither will the majority of the media. It's great, I love how Webber does his transfer business away from prying eyes! -
Just clearing it up in case somebody misinterpreted it... You know, that barely ever happens on here but better to be safe than sorry 😊

😂 I meant more that he was a former team mate of Rogers

Robbie Rogers.... Used to play for Leeds and then went on to LA. I actually forgot about him, so that's rather indicative in itself. It really doesn't matter. May be one of the reasons Robbie Keane has been so...umm...keen to support this cause.
-
Yeah this is kind of what the 11 pages before this had been discussing. Oh, until it went off track of course and people started slinging insults around (probably 5 pages of that!) The point is, which has been missed over and over again, is that it doesn't matter what we think. Many of us aren't phased by someone's $exual orientation, colour, creed...blah de blah. We know that. The point was that a footballer coming out as gay would be good for the sport. To, hopefully, alleviate some of the worries that gay pro footballers may have in coming out and therefore carrying a lot of weight around on their shoulders and perhaps struggling with depression etc. The fact that this account was started and looked legit got a lot of people talking. Some may have had reasonably archaic views, others were more open to it. But the point is, people were talking about it. And whatever an individual's views are on it, that's the bit that doesn't matter! The most important part to consider are the emotions of the actual person thinking about coming out.

Crikey! That's nuts.

In Webber and Farke we believe
BobLoz3 replied to Jobsworth Canary's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Oh yeah I'm really hoping that sort of thing doesn't happen again. It is my belief that one shouldn't boo their team. Last season, and I've said this many a time before, the goons in front of me were booing quite intensely after, I think, only our second game. Of course, this prompted me to shout a bit after the guy had continued to the bottom of the stairs in the lower Barclay (block D) where I was standing before leaving (still booing of course). He also got pretty shirty with an older guy I always get chatting to down there and I didn't take too kindly to that either. Anyway, he called me a See You Next Tuesday and I nearly lost it. I'm glad I didn't though as the last thing I want to do is have to get in a scrap with a fellow fan, because I ain't that tough (war of words is fine). But I must admit, I hope he feels stupid now. More likely, though, is that he's warming up his booing chords for next season... Some people! -

Personally, I think this team will definitely give it a go. I can't see them sitting back when they have opportunities. The point is, we won't get as many attacking opportunities in a lot of the games, nowhere near as many as last season anyway. Our forwards will have to be clinical, so it's fortunate we have one of, if not the, most clinical finisher I've ever seen in a Norwich shirt in Pukki. We won't be there just to make up the numbers. -
No, I guess not. The original account is still up... I guess we'll find out tomorrow.
