1.
" It is simply that there is work to be done and we are not there yet"   And therein somes up your grovellin and misleading approach.  Firstly this ''not there yet''. What is ''there''. A snivellin ever so umble 17th place. If that by some magic was now guaranteed the cop doffers such as yourself would say we are ''there''. There because that ius the limit of our ambition, to be allowed to remain in this league as long as we don''t make a noise, don''t try and challenge the rest. No, sit it the corner wringing our little ole norwich cap. Secondly your constant misleading of the views of the rest of the fans. That we feel it is all over, based on your cretinous belief in this embarrassing gutter crawling 17th place is good enough for us.  The reality, the true reality, is that we have 9 games left. We are closer to 9th place than 18th place. Finishing in 9th place would earn us an around an extra £6.5m. We lose around £800,000 for every place we finish below 9th place. Of course, IF we lose all of those remaining games there is a possibility we will be relegated - and if we win all those remaining games there is a possibility that we could qualify for a European place. The probability is that we will fall somewhere between those two possibilities.  So why not stop bleating constantly about the worse case scenario as if no one else is aware of it ? Why not continue the same desire and hunger that hauled us off our sorry ar ses (and bottom of the third tier) up through two tables in two seasons and saw us finish in acredible mid table spot ?   You remind of that whinging old bar stard who used to stand near me in the Barclay way back who bemoaned every chance of success we had. Why try to win a semi final as we are bound to lose the final, was his watchword. Yes, why indeed ? Why bother to support your club, and why not have us still at the bottom of League 1, in fact League 2 would be even better then you can moan your little heart out at the club, the board, the managers for not having ''hambition'' ........because guess what ? When they do, you will be on here moaning that "it ain''t for the like of hus guv''nor".
Your logic is non-existent.   You constantly and purposefully twist what people say to suit your agenda.    Suggest you take a holiday and chill out a bit.   There is room for other people''s views without resorting to derision and accusations of bleating.    The worst that can be said is I state the obvious, that we could go up or down.   I say that to counter the people that appear to think we are all but safe.  I''ll say it again and I''ll turn it around so perhaps even your closed mind can appreciate it - "we could end up in the top ten or we could end up in the bottom three, all scenarios are possible".  Have I got through to you yet?
 2.
People who are positive get criticised by the doom mongers and people who are negative get criticised by the happy clappers. This is just the natural order of things and it happens throughout every aspect of life, not just supporting NCFC. The only way to solve this would indeed be to divide the board, and have a ''Doom mongers'' side and a ''Happy clappers'' side, then you can choose which posts you read and those that you don''t. Until then, just be content with knowing what side of the fence you stand and that you are right!
That''s all very well, but it doesn''t leave room for the middle ground, which is where most supporters lie, the ground that sees the full picture and not just the positive side or the negative side.   Most of us are in that camp, but on here it makes you wonder.    You get shouted down by somebody, whatever your view by either a percy positive or negative nancy.   Long live the middle ground!
 3.

"flying high up in the sky!" With the relegation almost sorted ie qpr and reading pretty much down and one from villa Wigan or Sunderland to go or even west ham (glad we ain''t in that mix!!!) and the top 6 done and dusted was wondering how high in mid table we could finish this season? Was thinking if we really push on from here it will still be possible for a 8th to 10th position but more realistically will be about 12th again. Just glad we have had such a good season and haven''t got to worry about getting dragged down. Otbc. I worry about our fans sometimes.   We are one defeat away from being in a group four points above the drop zone.   That is not relegation "almost sorted".   That is a very real threat as we would go into the last seven games.    I expect us to have enough to pull clear, but the danger is there, whether people like to think about it or not.   We need to win at Wigan to relieve any remaining pressure and then we can start to celebrate and look up the table.   Lose and we are right down amongst the clubs fighting to stay away from that eighteenth place. This is not a negative view, simply being realistic.
Please go away and take your negativity elsewhere.  Every single time you post it''s NEGATIVE.
There is nothing negative about my post!!!!!!  Its simply realistic.    If you can''t take it that''s your problem, not mine.   We are twelfth and could go higher, but the opposite is also true.        Have I said we''re going down?  No, if you read my post properly you will see I said that I expect us to have enough to pull clear. It is simply that there is work to be done and we are not there yet.   If you can''t see that, then perhaps its you that should go elsewhere.
 4.

I only hope that we get as many points as there are spelling mistakes in the OP.
Ohm shocked don''t know watts the matter, as a board we have great potential, just need to ion out all this current negativity it''s making me quite anode......
I''m with the OP on this.   Quite why people are being ridiculed for taking a realistic view, I don''t know.  There is nothing negative about stating the possible outcomes of the rest of the season, good or bad.   We all know we need to pick up points and that Wigan is a pivotable game. The only reason I can think of for the reaction is that some fans are just too scared to think of possible consequences of  a bad run or losing a game or two.    As I say there is NOTHING negative about taking a realistic view.    I will go to Wigan on Saturday thinking we could win, but I''m also aware that if we don''t pick up at least a point on Saturday the cat will be among the pigeons and the end of the season could be tricky.  I said it on another thread, Wigan is a big game.
 5.

The pessimistic view is that we struggle to pick up any points at all.  Yes, a draw or two would help, but football is a funny thing.  I wouldn''t say we''re going to be ok yet.  We could end up bottom or we could end up in the top ten.  All possibilities are still there.  No need for doomongers to doommonger or happy clappers to happy clap.    The season ain''t over yet.
"I''ve had a sip of my drink and it''s already half empty"
If you''re referring to me, ncfcstar, my glass is quite adequately filled, thank you.   I simply won''t get excited until we get those wins/draws we need.   Then we can all celebrate a good season.   You nervous nellies out there that can''t even contemplate the worst case scenarios need to take some confidence pills.    Anything is still possible, looking up or down.   I hope the players have got stronger nerves than  some of you.

 7.
Basically if we lose we are in a relegation dogfight. Any other result and we are safe. Either way I can''t see us being relegated, we are still picking up points after all.
This was really my point, which some people obviously don''t accept.  Like it or not, this match can make our season easy or it could make things very awkward over the next few weeks.  The last thing any of the rest of the clubs in the lower half of the table want is Wigan winning and closing the gap to 18th place.  Four points above 18th spot is not healthy for us with our goal difference.   Yes we can pick up points elsewhere, but if you want a season defining game, this is it.   Its a six pointer not only for us but every other team from 10th to 17th.  in the league.

 9.

i think Mr M is being a little cautious because of the weather.
I think Mr M is being realistic.Just remember that last season it was our very first game back in the Premiership and hundreds of those if not thousands had never been to Wigan. The novelty factor of such trips has worn off as has been plain to see throughout this season visiting clubs of similar stature to Wigan.
Yes, it was the first game in the premiership and a great occasion it was too.   Arguably though, this coming game is more important as it has serious implications for the rest of our season.   Win and we are well clear, lose and the 18th place becomes a lottery for about eight other clubs, including us.  We need to take our full quota, the tickets are cheap - or don''t we care about our club enough at a critical stage of the season?   People who are complacent because we are twelfth in the table ought to take another look at it to see how important this game is, not just to us but the whole bottom half of the league.
 10.
In today''s Sunday Observer a chart gives the views of a fan from each club. To the question which three teams will go down Norwich City does not get a single mention. It''s all a combination of QPR & Reading, plus either Wigan, Villa or Sunderland!
Doesn''t matter if a million people don''t mention it.   The fact remains that we still have to pick up points.   The season doesn''t end just people want to think we''re safe.  Eight games 24 possible points to play for.   A roller coaster doesn''t stop until it gets to the end of its ride, neither does a football season.
 11.
Agreed - would be great to take 4400 again. Newcastle managed it last week - we passed their coaches on the A1 last Sunday. But McNally has tweeted that we hope to take only 2k.
Only 2K?  Waas goin oaann?  Surely we can fill our end of the ground?
 12. This is the game of the season for us and it''s fitting that we''ll have the whole end of one ground.  Let''s make it an occasion to remember and make it into a cauldron of yellow and green noise and singing.
 13.
Actually Ha Ya, I think he''s done you on his ''Fear of ambition'' thread. It''s a good un though "ambitionless and gutleess whingers have attached themselves to our club . Only happy if we are back in the Championship" Lots of our favourites in there.
Sadly, City 1st is so far up his own backside regarding our club he can''t understand reasonable views when they are posted on here.  Everyone apart from him is apparently  an inferior gutter crawling low life of a supporter not worthy of wearing the green and yellow of our club.   Well he''s wrong.
 14.
" the over exciteable posters who seem to think its all but done or dusted this season", "one of those people celebrating our season before we have actually achieved anything". And where might these people exist, other than in your fevered imagination ? In the real world nobody thinks anything is ''done and dusted'' with 27 points to play for. Winning the next two games could see us in 9th place. But that isn''t the aim, is it ? "A couple more draws and a win will do it". Will do, what exactly ? Stop us being relegated. No mention that a win would put us further up the table, merely further away from Wigan. No comment that any lack of points will stop us climbing the table, just this fixation with relegation  Get off your knees.
Get off your high horse, City 1st.   You plainly are single mindedly fixated that people who don''t think your way are suffering some kind of delusion. There are all views out there.  The facts remain that we are not safe although there are plenty of posters saying we are safe already (you will know this if you read this board regularly, which you surely do).    Also, "a couple more draws and a win will do it" means nothing more than that we are safe and can push on to the end of the season. I also said in the same sentence that we could still finish in the top ten. All possibilities are still out there.   We could do well or we could do badly over the next few weeks.   Unless you have crystal balls you have no idea what is going to happen in the next few matches.    So if you are going to have such a high handed attitude at least have the decency to read posts properly and not make broad assumptions and sweeping accusations based on your own prejudices.
 15. Javier''s Deaf Translator  "so if we win this weekend and go up to 10th (therefore going into the top 10 of the league, obviously) will we in your mind be out of the scrap?" Yes.   Absolutely.    I  just can''t jump the gun.   If we win on Saturday, that will confirm to everybody that we are here to stay.   Its a big match, not just for Norwich, but all the teams around us.  If we can beat Wigan it will give all the teams above that extra breathing space.   I hope we do, but  a loss would put Wigan right in there with the rest of us and make life a little more scary for the whole of the lower half of the table.A big game.
 16. Neither a binner or a doom monger, but I don''t go along with  the over exciteable posters who seem to think its all but done or dusted this season.  Any permutation of the bottom ten clubs is still possible and at this stage of the season with nearly 1/4 of the games still to go, I for one won''t be exciteable until we are statistically safe.   A  couple more draws and a win will do it and we should be ok and yes we could even challenge the top ten, but a couple of bad results and with Wigan catching up in the process, there will be ten clubs who will be feeling the pressure, including us. I trust Hughton to keep us on track, but won''t be one of those people celebrating our season before we have actually achieved anything.   There are still eight games to go and anything can still happen.  The roller coaster hasn''t stopped yet.
 17. Don''t know why people are thinking its a good thing Snodgrass got sent off and isn''t playing in the next game.   Does no-one any good imo.   He came back from the last Scotland game and looked to have lost his mo-jo for weeks.  This could be a worse scenario.  We need him at his best. Two good games for Scotland would have been great preparation for the Wigan match.   As it is, a sending off, Scotland losing largely as a result of that, not going to Serbia.  Yes, that''s great for a player''s confidence, isn''t it...
 18. Plenty of strikers with back up.   Now who is going to supply the service to them?   To my mind this has been one of the main problems this season.  Pilks, Snodgrass, Bennett, Hoolahan, Johnson, Howson, Tettey all have to improve their deliveries and their teamwork. Maybe the blend hasn''t been right with the players we''ve got.  Maybe some of them are not up to the way Hughton wants to play.   The quality needed is the ability to defend in the way Hughton wants and then to move forward with pace and quality.  The players we have seem to be able to adapt to the defending but then often don''t seem to know what to do after that. The Sunderland match was better and hopefully that is a sign of things to come, but if not, we will need better players in there to support the strikers.  Can the midfielders we''ve got improve or do we need influx of pace on the wings and more accurate passers in central midfield?
 19.
Having picked up 5 yellow cards in the last 8 games for Norwich, Snodgrass doesn''t disappoint and picks up a yellow for Scotland after just 10 minutes.... This is a side of his game that needs to be redressed......ill-considered tackling and too much whinging and whining......
He''s been working on this all his career because he knew that one day he would play for Norwich and he wanted to make sure he would fit in with the attitude of our fans [:(]
 20.
Still go to Carrow Road if we fell from grace and ended up like Portsmouth!!
Would you??
 21. Snodgrass is not captain material imo.   He is not consistent enough as a player or in attitude to be a captain.  He gets frustrated too much and that is not a good trait in a captain (or a player if it comes to that).   He is wholehearted enough and is capable of inspiring play at times, but is not captain material. As has been said Holt is captain, no need to change that.   Four seasons and we are still on the up.  Why would we need to change?  And if we did we have Russell martin who would be a lot of people''s first choice after Holt anyway.   Leave Snodgrass to work at his game.  He is not the finished article and has a lot to learn.
 22.
i look at it like this.  the way the table is we should be looking not below but go get some points to finish as high as we can and add some extra cash to the pot for next year. however if we lose against wigan on sat week that view may change.
I think most of us think the same.   No need to look down or up, really, simply look to win games.  If you do that everything else takes care of itself.
 23. Amongst all the baloney on this thread is the point that we should look up not down.Wrong.We should look to win matches. That is all.  No need to look up or down.
 24.

........I am in that tiny minority group of posters that believe we remain in danger.. ......
I reckon if we were 24 points clear with 8 games to play you''d be saying it could all hinge on goal difference.[:D]Have you ever enjoyed watching NCFC ?
............has he ever WATCHED the Canaries?[:@]
I think you''ll find he went to Sunderland, says something.
