  1. Once worked in an office where a bunch of people agreed to listen to the Archers then next day at work speak about incidents as if the characters were real people in their lives. Ears of nosey ****s were flapping all around them for six or seven weeks before they cottoned on.
  2. Spot on Christoph. Thought he was paying a huge compliment to the young man for the way he overcame a big setback rather than let a promising future evaporate and maybes the club played a blinder with taking a firm stance at that time. And the way he has overcome injuries – wow what a prospect we have on our hands.
  3. What's the chances ??? ...... no, stop laughing, it really would not be funny 🙂
  4. Last night was so unspeakably bad that it must have made it clear to even the most blinkered observer that the time has passed for the PGMOL to just say whoops and we all move on. What an appalling example last night sets for young people – how dare they allow this state of affairs while making out they’re setting standards of decency by booking players for walking too slowly? They’ve had many many opportunities to put their house in order and now it needs to be taken out of their hands, with them replaced by a fully transparent body representative of the interests of all football stakeholders at all levels of the game.
  5. Just seen the Russ post-match - impressed.
  6. Btw Lakey, not disagreeing with your take, just intending to add to it. OTBC
  7. Not expecting a goalfest every week, watching on the radio I suspect the dugout decided to fight fire with fire against a side which started very well on the opening weekend. On other days the approach will surely be more attritional but it feels like the strength of mind in the group to get the job done whatever the demands is back, although supporters who made the trip (well done all), will always be better placed to judge these things.
  8. The highlight for me is that a highlights vid last season should’ve lasted about 30 seconds for many games whereas this week there is clearly much left out of all the versions. OTBC
  9. Recommend the late French jazz singer and poet Claude Nougaro’s Toulouse To Win (on youtube). Cool or chilled doesn’t come near to describing.
  10. Think I'll play safe and watch out for a 9.30am KO 🙂
  11. That makes so much more sense than my take on it.
  12. Ha, we all need to be alert tomorrow. Football tv listings still showing a 5pm KO as expect not been time to refresh yet, but as Google Bot has said, the first of three 40 minute periods is behind closed doors - would make no sense to have a private game streamed and similarly would not expect Pinkun lads to be live reporting that session, so I'm going on the assumption we'll all be locked out until 4pm. That said, I'm sure a mole somewhere in the ground will share our fascination at what it is we're not meant to see - maybe there's a hotel in the corner :)
  13. Some heavy duty names there. Wouldn't want to be around if they make a reply.
  14. Not that surprising really – have you seen the cost of parking on Tyneside? As it happens Dunston’s been a bit quieter since Gazza left. But joking aside, apart from the pitch being chewed up some at the match said they believed the hooded men were armed, so a bit scary.
  15. It's a ******* load of **** the way this ****** filter makes it **** like we're swearing at each other 😄
  16. Maybes interview for one job and offer him a different one ??? ...... wish I didn't have such a devious mind 😄
  17. Unless memory is failing again, he was the guy who converted support in the county into bums on seats at the ground - sometimes hard to realise how recently we didn't routinely fill it. Agree with yellowrider he may not match the Sporting Director role as we know it at our club, but mature organisations take the opportunity to hire good people and mould the organisation to fit, with tasks at the top table redistributed (this may already be happening as David Wagner seems to have more influence in the recruitment area). And he is a good ol Norfolk boy returning with experience developed elsewhere. Appears a grounded choice.
  18. Recall watching Freddy Trueman getting his 300th Test wicket (far fewer Tests back then making it a great achievement for a paceman), even by 60s bw tv standards the accompanying graphic was disrespectively naff, like something out of a silent movie era overlaid caption.
  19. Does your dog have a view on the Bodyline series Dylan?
