1. At least 3 and that''s all I really care about this season. Debt free next year with plenty of money to spend is where we should see some real improvement.
2. Berbatov is class, no doubt. The way he finds space and his quality on the ball is sublime, but watching him makes me think he''s a horrible player to play with. Constantly berating the rest of his team when they play the wrong pass, or dont give bim the ball, and throwing his toys out of the pram all the time. I wouldn''t be surprised if his attitude is partly to blame for their poor form recently.
3. "Or the players have had enough of his negative ways too" You can''t honestly believe that? You think a team who were playing well and getting results decided they didn''t like the way things were going and wilfully started playing worse in protest at the manager''s tactics? Between this and constantly changing your mind and contradicting yourself, you don''t do yourself many favours, do you?
4. I also get the impression that some posters would like to see us playing like Blackpool did under Holloway. Look how that turned out.
5. Were the people calling for the manager''s head saying the same when we were winning earlier in the season? When we put 4 past Swansea, beat man utd and arsenal with great performances, amongst other good results? Of course they weren''t. I can''t honestly believe that hughton would have seen these games and suddenly decided to change the system, which makes me think its more down to poor form from the players. I don''t get the impression CH is as good a motivator as PL was, but I honestly don''t believe the way we''re playing is entirely down to his management.
6. "And in those games didnt Holt make many defensive clearances and hold the ball up to bring other players in to the game, make space for other players to run in to. I know that he did and thats why we miss him" There were no defensive clearances to make yesterday, so it''s unfair to judge his replacement on something they didn''t have the chance to do. Did you not notice becchio laying the ball off for other players, and generally doing what the lone striker should do, or do you just ignore that? Lets not forget he was being closely marked by a beast of a centre half, and Fulham seemed to take a fairly cynical approach to their defending.
7. Our performance was entirely reminiscent of other recent games, and lead to the same result, so on that basis I can''t really say we missed Holt. It''s starting to get a bit annoying when people simply state "if you were at the game you''d see what holt offers", without actually explaining what he has done over and above other players who have also played his position this season. As has frequently been the case this season, the lone striker did the best he could whilst feeding on scraps. I''m sure both LB and GH will look much better when they''re playing together. It''s a hard life as a lone striker in an out of form team.
8. "I think if you read through all of Lennon''s quotes you will see that he has categorically and consistently stated that Hooper isn''t for sale. He confessed that, ''every player has his price'' but that is the case for anyone." Of course it''s true for anyone, but how much would it take to prise RVP from Utd at the moment? More than anyone would be willing to pay, so to some extent it''s a pointless statement. It''s only got meaning in this instance because the fee they were rumoured to want is realistic for our budget. I think Celtic were willing to do a deal, and if they weren''t they wouldn''t have said what they said. If he really wasn''t for sale (except for a fee far in excess of his percivex value) they could have just said so and been done with it. TBH I think we''ve done ourselves no favours by upping our bids by so little, and Celtic have gotten booted of it. It''s norwich''s fault to a large extent, IMO. Doesn''t stop me having a bit of a paddy until the morning though.
9. "Based on what has said in public if anyone has been wasting our time it has been us. Making bids right up to close to the deadline that seem to have been nowhere near what Celtic would have considered accepting. Whether the Celtic price is too high is irrelevant. We seemed not to realise that Celtic were in no mood to sell and would only be tempted by something close to the asking price." I may well be slightly peed off and over reacting, but if they''d just categorically stated from the off that hooper wasn''t for sale, and refused to comment further then we might have avoided this merry go round.
10.
If you heeded my words you could have saved yourself a months speculation.
Shut up you utter tit.
11. Why wait until 2 hours before the deadline before finally stating he wasn''t for sale. Nobs. Celtic can f*ck off for wasting our time.
12. A concrete no from Celtic. They must be bonkers to turn that amount down.
13. First of all, I''m happy with a point tonight, before anyone says I''m moaning. However, it could have been better if Tettey had taken a yellow card and clattered Bale. It''s interesting that Bale can stay on his feet when running full pelt in the middle of the pitch when touched (I''m sure Tettey made contact), but finds it impossible to stay upright in the box from the slightest contact. Tells you all you need to know about Gareth Bale and the diving debate.
14. I''m a better fan than you, blah blah f***ing blah, I''m a diehard, I sing for 90 minutes, you don''t deserve your seat in the ground, bullsh*t bullsh*t bullsh*t. Part timers yada yada yada. Seriously, just f*** off you sanctimonious, self righteous prick.
15. "Yup, half the "Norwich fans" at cup games dont even know the words to OTBC. Its embarassing when Luton have more "fans" than we have "support" " You really do have a horrible attitude
16. Utter dross so far. I''m normally pretty positive about norwich, but it''s hard to be so far.
17. Itv are driven by viewer numbers and advertising revenue, and the simple fact is that man city are a bigger draw than we are. Obviously plenty of people would tune in to see us and Luton, but surely not as many as man city. Casual football fans are sheep, following whoever is flavour of the month.
18. I received this text thismorning: Some goals conceded per game stats. With Ruddy 1.46, without 2.00. With Bassong 1.20, without 5.00. With Whittaker 1.00, without 2.14. It''s pretty clear that these are key players, and we struggle without them.
19. I was at the west ham game, and watched the reading game. Reading...agreed we were dreadful, but we still played badly and came away with a point. The importance of clean sheets for all to see. West ham...I thought we were the better side, and had the better chances. The finishing wasn''t there on the day. I have just realised my mistake above. We''ve played west ham twice.
20. I wonder if our results had been more evenly dispersed through the season whether we''d be seeing this amount of hyperbolic bullsh*t? Our unbeaten run followed a poor run of results. There''s no reason to think we won''t pick up further wins as the season goes on.
21. "yes there are always the exceptions that prove the rule, some stunning exceptions of british clubs in european competitions seeming to win games they were outclassed in, manure, chelsea and liverpool in recent CL victories spring to mind #bulldogspirit" Did you even read the whole sentence? The bit where I said it was a pointless stat and that I agreed?
22. "had scored nearly three times the amount of goals we have so far. " We scored 52 all season. 24 x 3 = 72. Back to school for you. "Our supposedly tighter defence is a myth as we have let in 3 more goals this year than we had done at the same point last year. So to sum up we are worse in every single stat you can probably imagine so i fail to see how this is progress." You''ve conveniently ignored the fact we have several more clean sheets, which always guarantees us at least a point. Yes, we''ve been thumped a few times, but other than Fulham, who would honestly say they expected anything from those games? "We are going to stay in this league getting points from the West Hams and Fulhams and Readings." We drew with two of those, and still have to play them all again with 2 of those games being at home. If you''re going to talk b*llocks, at least make sure your stats are right.
23. "but would not be allowed the time & space to play against decent opposition." Short term memory. He did just fine last season. " No one can win a game of football under that sort of self inflicted pressure. " This is a pointless stat, and in general I agree with you, but Celtic beat Barca whilst enjoying a hefty 18% possession. Myself and the guys I sit with have been bemoaning his lack of opportunity all season. His passing ability was vital last season. His ability to make 40+yard passes with accuracy made his passing stats all the more impressive, and it was clear that lambert saw him as the hub of our team, around which all the play revolved. I thinks he''s a player we''d have to "accommodate" by instructing his midfield partner to be more disciplined in his movement and just sit in front of the back 4. Think Claude makalele, rather than frank lampard. He''s struggled when asked to make the tackles as well as the passes. As I recall, he was seemingly tasked with this role against Watford at the start of the championship season, and didn''t make a tackle until the 70th minute. As good as BJ has been at times this season, his inability to play even th simplest of passes is starting to become a problem, and I''d really like to see fox given a chance.
