  1. true! tht article makes Lambert''s move sound even more bizarre. They are claiming he''s been given 10-15 million to play with. Hard gonna pull up trees with that sum is he?
  2. according to Daily Mail! What an absolute nightmare all of this is!
  3. Ok, just reading the beginnings of this thread makes me finally realise why people get so narked at the "little ol" Norwich tag that a bulk of supporters seeming indulge in. Just take a look at the "planetswans" forum and compare how their fans are dealing with their manager leaving and the potential candidates they are hoping for. They are talking OGS, Benitez, AVB, even for goodness sake Guardiola, we are talking Malky Makay, Steve Clarke, and some Stevenage manager whoever he is. Now I''m not for one minute saying those Swansea fans are being remotely realistic, BUT, they are ambitious and don''t consider 11th place to be "as far as we can go". They want a quality replacement from the continent or similar so why don''t we snap out of little old Norwich attitude, and demand we aim even higher than Lambert. It is so frustrating, This club has so much potential to be a regular top six side it really does!
  4. I''m sorry but its absolute tosh blaming the quality of Norwich City''s youth production system on foreigners. However did you dream that one up?
  5. For me he is another player in the Darren Anderton mould. Does eff all but always manages to be picked!
  6. Is the youth system. Different managers have different ideas and it feels to me that every time a new manager comes in tthe youth system gets played around with meaning you have to start back at square one. Thus meaning good youth team players are always 7-8 years away and never materialise. If we are going to compete in the premiership long term this has to be strong and reliable, we need our own supply of quality to remain competitive.Back in the 80''s and early 90''s we had a lot more stability in this way and managed to produce a fairly regular supply of useful players. This isn''t a paranoid post about the possibility of Lamberts future but it is a concern about the long term sustainability of our club as a premiership side.
  7. can''t believe THE great Dane hasn''t been brought up - Henrik Mortensen
  8. Anybody else out there struggle to see how he is so highly rated. He''s got a sweet left foot (allegedly), but what else does he offer exactly? How the hell is he even in the squad let alone preferred to Adam Johnson?
  9. Good point grantroederdisaster, makes good sense.
  10. I see your point and he would be a decent candidate, however, we''re going to need to find something different or a bit special to step into Lambert''s shoes and, although I can''t put forward any example names I can''t help feeling we should look abroad for a foreign manager. A manager whose football tendencies will suit the continental edge of the Premier League.I''m all for British managers getting a chance but I just don''t see anyone capable enough of carrying on where Lambert may leave off.Anyway, my genuine hunch is that Holt and Lambert are playing hardball over money and they''ll both end up starting the season with us.
  11. Seem to remember Holty declaring his brother was a Norwich fan ever since our European adventure of the 90''s. Be interesting to know his take on all this! Perhaps he needs to "have a word" haha!
  12. Am I the only one that thinks £45-£50 every 12 months (just over 4 quid a month) isn''t that bad? Perhaps the club should let people tag their new kit purchase automatically on their monthly installments for season tickets? And, for all those saying "but when you have an army of kids". 1) stand up to your kids if you can''t afford it, i was 18 before I owned my first shirt despite being a season ticket holder for most of my childhood. Mum and Dad couldn''t justify and fair enough i was just greatful to be taken to the football, and 2) think yourself lucky football is your family hobby and not motor racing or horse riding etc!Buy it if you want it/can afford it, don''t if you don''t/can''t afford it, but coming on here using it as an excuse to bash the club once again is pointless and irrritating i think
  13. Everybody always talks about "the future" when discussing England team selections. Does anybody else out there think that whilst you always have to have an eye on "the future", you are, if you''re guided only by that, at huge risk of missing out on the NOW!!!For me, I want to see Grant Holt selected. He deserves it, and for those non-Norwich fans that think he''s only a traditional number 9, what a load of baloney, yes he uses his strength, but the guy fills me with confidence when he has the ball at his feet that a) he won''t lose it easily, and b) he''ll pick a pass. He can finish, as demonstrated time and time again (look at the ease in which he strikes the ball in front of goal) and MORE IMPORTANTLY, when talking about representing your country, we would finally see someone pull on the shirt with pride - something every Englishman throughout the land has been crying out for ever since the likes of Stuart Pearce retired. So come on new England manager, whoever you are, remember, fortune favours the brave. There are far more reasons to pick him than not, however, I suspect that, the cartel, that is the FA will scupper that in favour of those players that have celebrity status!!!!!
  14. I''m sure Russell Martin knows what he''s doing! For me, it makes good sense, once the ball is passed him he is then facing play, and indeed, if the player plays a dummy and runs past him as you put it, surely then he is facing the right way to recover? What would be the point in standing staring at the player after the cross has been delivered?I''m sorry, but I don''t understand your concerns.
  15. Exactly Harry, you just don''t do that, to a rookie keeper, two minutes into his premiership debut, live on sky TV, he''s only young himself but given this "pedigree" everyone is on about Mr de Laet should have known better. There''s no gain in it at anytime but particularly not under these circumstances.de Laet QUIT THE UNECESSARY FANNYING ABOUT!!!!!
  16. I was particularly disappointed in De Laet over this goal full stop. Whether or not Declan Rudd called and then hesitated is irrelevant for me, with a rookie keeper plunged into premiership action on sky tv, defenders should not be taking risks so early in the game before anybody is settled, he simpy should have cleared his lines. However, my main point is, that during the aftermath, instead of being hell bent on arguing with rudd, he should have immediately shouldered the blame, irrespective of whether or not he felt rudd was at fault, and put an arm round his shoulder, because for the next 15-20 mins or so rudd was nervy and in this time the game could have been out of sight. All in all, not impressed with de laet one bit i''m afraid so far!
  17. for me has to be the way premiership teams play very fast incisive passing that turns defence into attack very quickly. Seems like our guys are half a yard slower on this, hence our lack of penetration at times.
  18. On the subject of full backs, and peoples fears about naughton at left back and wotnot, I think its a great idea to have the option of a "right footer" being very comfortable at left back and vice-versa. The most common trend of wide players in the modern game is to cut inside onto the full back''s so called weaker foot to deliver an in-swinging cross. So, to have your full back''s stronger foot defending that against teams with "huckerby style" wide men makes great sense to me, so I think swapping flanks for our full backs shouldn''t be something to be concerned about.
  19. On the contrary Prem1, I think it makes no sense. You looking at it from a tangible viewpoint. Grany Holt is to this squad what Iwan and Malky were to the last premier promotion squad. Its not just about technical ability and value. Holt has qualities that are very very difficult to find in a footballer. Letting him leave would rip the heart and soul out of the squad.I for one would rather have Grant Holt in the squad as an unused sub for the season that have 2m quid in the bank! Its all about the bigger picture
  20. have you been in contact rupet? did they give an explanation?
  21. I still haven''t received my season ticket in the post! They have been taking the direct debit. Is anybody else in the same boat? Most people i know already have theirs.
  22. step up hucks! Could be an ideal tool to plug your charity work ;-)
  23. Jockin all over the world has to be started, love it, and its simple enough for footy fans to grasp!!!!
  24. I reckon we should try get the biggest rendition of the dambusters tune on the terraces ever in recognition of the "Lambusters" after our demolition of the old enemy!Reckon it would sound cool! Just the chorusy bit obviously
