The Fight Against Racism in Football
KC_Canary replied to batesout MOT's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Sometimes people don''t think things through from Football365''s mediawatch column - PR Joy - Part Two The following press release came to Mediawatch''s attention on Thursday: ''"World of Goals" launches a new website and football index to establish and measure the performance of football players, one day before the start of World Cup 2010! Performance and fitness stats of all participating football players will be tracked and can be found on World of Goals website.'' All very nice, until you start abbreviating things... ''The WoG Index uses an algorithm...'' Whoa whoa whoa. On the eve of the first World Cup to be held in Africa, hosted by a country who in the relatively recent past employed a system of government that divided its citizens based on the colour of their skin, a ratings system called the ''WoG Index'' has been launched? A PR success, don''t you think? As a matter of interest before it was converted to a nasty racial jibe it merely referred to those who were ''Workers On Goverment Schemes'' which carried the obvious abreviation on their work jackets during British rule in Egypt. -
Hmmm... what shall i do today?

I can remember watching a boxing match on TV one of the boxers was white one was black, they were wearing almost identical shorts. The commentator when describing them said somethong along the lines of boxer a (can''t remember his name) was wearing the shorts with the white trim, which was barely visable. Was he being sensitive or just terified of being accused of racism? -
Should not someone say "Sorry fans and shareholders" but by not reading the rule book (or getting advice from those who do) "I have cost Norwich F C half a million pounds."
Err no the rule breaking cost £75,000. The compensation figure would have been the same if we had stuck to the rules.

2. Drazen Muzinic v Rotherham away. Lost 4-1n and their tricky winger (Tynan i think) ran him into the ground. And we were 1-0 up after 15 minutes (Greg Shephard)
I have to take exception to this... ...I was far worse against Middlesbrough the season before - we lost 6-1 including an OG from Clive Woods and a brace from the mighty Bosko Jancovic. Against The Merry Millers I was in the number 3 shirt against a very skilful Tony Towner and even big Ronnie Moore scored that day. It all turned out OK in the end - City went back up and I was long gone by the end of the season! "Taxi for Scamps please..." I was at both those games and it was a close call. The Middlesbrough game was when Hansbury slapped someone (Goble?) around the side of the head when he let a corner slip past him for one of the goals.

The fact that Blackpool have somehow (deservedly) scraped into the prem does not automatically mean their players are any good. Personally i think that their team has been a classic case of the whole being better than the sum of the parts as most of their players looked pretty bang average champ players to me and uunless they buy a whole new team they will battered week in, week out in the prem. DJ Campbell for £1.6m is a prime example. he is rubbish.
That''s not really a ''prime example'', the figure being mentioned is now more like £1m. Small change for somebody who has scored 11 goals in 18 games for you in a promotion season, and 9 goals in 20 games the year prior in a relegation battle. That is 20 goals in 38 games for Blackpool, not all starts. Find me a better striker, pound for pound, and I will give you a pound. If any of our strikers managed 17 goals in their next 35 games, for example Grant Holt, we would all be screaming about them being worth £3 or £4m. I would take him for a million quid, thats a snip, for more than a goal a game. He is a striker, his job is to score goals, he has a much better scoring rate than Robert Earnshaw at Nottm Forest (£2.65m). Do you expect Grant Holt next year to do any better than DJ Campbell in terms of goals? I don''t. Would you take £1m for Grant Holt? Enough said.
I suspect his upcoming court case probably does much to reduce his value.
Think you are getting a bit confused, Famagusta is in Nothern Cyprus, the Turkish bit, the riots were in Greece.
Which league to Famagusta play in? Do Northern Cypriot teams play in the main Cyprus league? -
Really Crap Signings of Yester year

Here we are agaain in the close season looking forward to nice new signings. remember when they all went horribly wrong. Darren Beckford, Neil Emblem,Helveg, Jonnsonn. Sure there are many more out there in peoples memories
i know you wont see it this way...but emblem was bloody good midfielder for us, and would been for you bar injuries for my two penth worth Dave Striker - you lot were basically getting an erection telling me how great he was pre season and how he scored x amount in the himalayian premier league or some crap league
That''s the point though Emblem was a crock when we bought him so he was a bad signing, had he not had injuries we probably would not have had the chance to sign him. As for Dave Striker he is still playing at a decent standard and scored against Spurs in a game in Europe after he left us. -
how about Peter Vasper and who remembers him from the early seventies Keelans under studie
God yes I remember when he played in a third round FA cup tie when we lost at home to Wrexham he was awful. He went on to play for Cambridge and won their player of the year in a season when they let in over 100 league goals. Who said football supporters don''t have a sense of humour!
Trevor Hockey, lots of hair, nothing else.
Helped keep us up though. How about Steve Walsh, or to save time anyone signed by Brian Hamilton! -
For all those who say we should drop the diamond
KC_Canary replied to James Kent's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
How about a 5-3-2 which could switch to a 3-5-2 when attacking. This of course puts the onus on having 2 attack minded full/wing backs. -

I''ll hold my hands up and admit I have invaded the pitch after previous promotions (70''s and 80''s) but things were different then. For a sart there were no upper tiers of stands so no-one was actually excluded, also it was nearly impossible for the plod to identify individuals from large terrace areas. Has already been stated the players and staff will come back out after the game so we can all enjoy the occasion together. A pitch invasion wouls stop this happening and imo would be selfish as well as stupid.
For a start you were 20 or 30 years younger .....
Very true; but it was not just youngsters on the pitch in them days.
