  1. I doubt that the Academy would have signed on 8 new youngsters if this is the case.
  2. I agree that a strong striker is the priority (along with a goalkeeper) and I hope it''s Lee, with perhaps Dickinson as well. I would also love to see Gow back, as he can play on either wing (though he prefers the left) and as a striker. Would he be willing to drop to League 1 though?
  3. Opinions are easy. I''ll go by the way he played here last year, hard, competive and dominating up front. For too long City have looked lightweight up front, easily foiled by big defenders. Lee changed that, with 2 goals in 7 matches as well as earning a penalty against the binners. His influence will be even greater in League 1.
  4. Good points being made here, but I think the expression at this level refers to the quality of opposing players in League 1. The same type of performance against Championship opposition becomes more effective against less skillfull players (beating the full-back say, or losing a marker in the penalty area). It doesn''t guarantee success, as Leeds have found to their cost, but it may enable ordinary players to be more effective.
  5. I think that it is worth having a look at McVeigh. He can play on the wing or as a striker, is competitive and has quality for League1. His goal at Old Trafford was a huge uplift in that match and if he can do it there he can do it at Yeovil or wherever! There is a limit to who we are going to sign for L! football.
  6. I agree completely MB, but just wonder if Cody could play out on the wing as well?
  7. Personally, I think that extension of the shirt sponsorship deal to 2012 was worth a press conference in the current financial climate. It helps give stability to the club in difficult times and may even free up some player money. I''d like to believe the bit about a delay on Lee and that he was at the show. Before the excitement builds up again, however, Gunny is now saying ''don''t expect any new signings until early next week at the soonest!
  8. Some people will not be satisfied whatever Gunn does and this is a case in point. I agree that Lee could come in without Wes leaving.
  9. I would like to see both Dickinson and Lee come in, perhaps paid for from either Clingan or Hoolahan leaving. The other option would be Dickinson and Doyle on loan, Lee on a permanent and Sammy and Wes staying.
  10. Except that you wouldn''t get Grant Holt for half of that! I think Lee could do a good job and is worth £200k-300k and that Palace would take that. The 600k was put out in an unresearched BetNow sight story and means nothing! OTBC!
  11. I couldn''t find out much about him except that he''s around 24 and a hard defender. The Tonbridge website has a photo as well: http://www.tonbridgeangels.co.uk/a/FirstTeam/player.php?id=351 Could possibly develop as a replacement for Dejan next year and cover for now.
  12. I''m with Superflash on this one. Lee did a good job in his 7 starts and 1 sub appearance here (2 goals and winning a penalty against the binners) and is exactly the kind of physical presence that will be needed in League1. At around 300k, City could still afford a younger target man as well and the right winger needed (Wade Small?). OTBC!
  13. I also think that Gunn''s policy of genuine development of young players has been a breath of fresh air and long overdue at CR. Cody, the 6 academy players already given contracts, the Cambridge City lad on trial and now these 3 youngsters bode well for the future.
  14. It is strange that the signing hasn''t been confirmed but I still doubt that he''s coming to CR because Clingan would want to sign for a promotion chasing side, and Coventry isn''t that. Has Gunn ever expressed interest in him?
  15. I think that this independent view of the rebate issue hits the nail on the head. I support the right of those who claimed their rebates back but applaud those that didn''t. Changes have been made with a new CEO and new Directors soon to be coming in. McNally has placed a huge emphasis on playing staff as the priority and I think it''s time to move on and put support behind the club. I also think that Foulger has the right to be disappointed at the result.
