  1. While I don''t think signing a player from Asia just for the sake of getting a few international fans is a good idea, Park was far more than a bench warmer for Man Utd. He was pretty great for a number of years. There''s plenty of talent in Korea, Japan etc, just look at how well they did in the World Cup. Keisuke Honda for example would be a great signing for any Premiership team, unfortunately he''s well out of our price range.
  2. Hmm when are we expecting to pay off all our debts by? Maybe it''ll be an announcement about that
  3. You can generally get PC games for £30 on release day. Add to that the regular sales run by services like Steam and Origin that often discount relatively new games up to 75% These days all gaming PCs will have an hdmi port so can be run through a TV. If you have an Xbox that has lasted 5 years you are very lucky, they usually break after about 3. As for having to upgrade for battlefield that will depend on how they want to run it. If they''re happy to have it run at the same resolution and graphical quality as the 360 version then a reasonable spec 4-5 year old machine should run it fine.
  4. Don''t suppose it''s Norwich this year...?
  5. Oo incorrect ''your'' usage... my kingdom for a edit button!
  6. FIFA looks identical on 360 and PS3, it comes down to which controller you prefer and whether you want to play online. PC is the only version that looks better because you can run at a higher resolution and a better frame rate (and you can use either a PS3 or a 360 controller if you want). PC gaming has come on leaps and bounds over the last couple of years. Currently if a game comes out on console and PC the PC is always the version to get if you have the choice, and you''ll save yourself £10-15 in the process. As for the 5 year old PC thing, that would depend on what your 5 year old PC was like in the first place, if it was high-ish end 5 years ago it''d still be OK now. And your lucky if you have a 5 year old PS3 or 360 that is still working... But I think maybe we''re getting a little off topic. Does PES have real teams in the Premiership yet? Been years since I tried it
  7. I suppose if it''s basically just a FIFA machine you are looking for then go PS3. The 360 and PS3 versions will be pretty much identical but on PS3 you get free online play. If you have any desire to game beyond that and have a bit of spare cash PC is definitely the platform to get. The higher upfront cost will more than pay for itself over the lifetime of the system.
  8. Several Reasons: A PC does a lot more than a console so has more uses beyond gaming. They''ll probably have pretty much stopped making PS3/360 games within a couple of years Games are cheaper on PC, and there is a greater variety in what is available, Football Manager for a start. No yearly fee for online (I know PS3 doesn''t have this) Current games run and look better a lot better on PC than 360 or PS3.
  9. I wouldn''t get a PS3 or a 360 at this point, a new generation of consoles should come out next year and so you should either wait for then one of them, or wait until the new consoles get announced as that will cause a large drop in the price of the 360 and PS3. If you want something for now get a PC and plug it in to your TV. You can put a reasonable machine together for about £300, the games will look better than the console versions, they''re cheaper and will last you longer.
  10. Surely they should at least be using their Gameface tech for Premiership players now. You''v been able to make a reasonably good likeness of yourself with that for the last few versions of FIFA, why not just do that for all the players? All you need is a face on and profile pic. Also while our stats do seem low, you can''t begrudge Swansea being 4 stars, they''ve looked one of the best teams in the league so far this season.
  11. I don''t rate Owen and I don''t think he will score many this season. But for me it''s really the type of player he represents that makes me not want him. I don''t want us to be one of those teams who lives off the scraps for Man United et al. Somewhere where players go to pick up one last pay-check. It easy for clubs to lose their identity after a few years in the Premiership, look at the likes of Sunderland under Bruce or Villa for the last few years. Buying the likes of Heskey or Owen would involves us selling our soul a little. I know this isn''t necessarily a particularly logical perspective it''s how I feel.
  12. Another way to look at it is that at this point in last season we had 2 points from 3 games after playing 1 title challenger (Chelsea), 1 established team (Stoke) and 1 relegation candidate (wigan)... pretty similar so far if you ask me
  13. Anyone remember that cartoon about football, The Hurricanes? Theme tune to that would make a good chant with a couple of tweats: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxTw0g8F6Qk
  14. I''ve always liked Barnett, but 2.75m is a lot of money and a good return on our investment (600k?). Turner had 1 bad game, but he is a good defender. If Hughton feels we can either bring in someone better or cope without a replacement till Christmas then I would say sell. Every player has their price.
  15. Has gone to Forest for around £1m, I know we have plenty of midfielders, but what a price that is.
  16. I''m sort of torn on this one. 8m is a lot of money for a striker who, hasn''t really proved himself above League 1, sure he''s had a good game but I''d want to see a bit more before shelling out that much. There must be better value out there, though to be honest I don''t know who. 8m should really bring in proven top level performers, but then if Fletcher went for 12-14m... Provided he be considerably cheaper than the figures people are talking about for Rhodes I''d rather we go for Jozy Altidore
  17. I have to say hats off to Swansea, didn''t like the way the press fawned over them last season compared to us but judging by that game at least Laudrup is taking them to another level. They don''t seem to be passing for the sake of it like last year, every move seemed to be part of their gameplan. Sure they''ve only played 2 teams that are likely to be in or around the relegation zone come the end of the season, but on that performance they should be aiming for Europe. As far as why we can''t play that way, well Swansea have be iterating on their passing style for years and have ensured that new managers that come in want to continue in the same way, you can''t just decide to play that way overnight.
  18. I was just thinking Jozy Altidore. Didn''t do great at Hull but after a few seasons he finally seems to be coming good at AZ. 15 goals in 31 last season and 4 in 2 so far this one. Still only 22 too.
  19. Looks a good bit of business, I have no problem with loans if a fee is agreed to buy.
  20. I think we''ve been conditioned by Lambert to expect transfers to come early in the window and then quiet towards the end. It''s not really that unusual for clubs to be looking at signings towards the end of the summer.
  21. All depends on how much they are offering. If we can make a nice profit on him then fine it might be a good move to sell, but if is for around what we paid we''d be better of keeping him. Maybe swap him for Emnes + a million? He''s scored 9 in the Premiership with very few starts so while many fan''s might not like him, he is a valuable asset.
  22. Good to know that we are still being underestimated. Let''s hope all the other teams expect as little from us as the "experts" do.
  23. Sounds like a good player. Wish Vaughan would stop being linked as a makeweight in every rumour, if he can stay fit he could be immense for us this season. (I know that''s a big if)
