1. An excellent post and one which deserves a far wider audience. It''s certainly one that the majority of football fans, not just Norwich City supporters could and should bear in mind!
 2. Sorry I meant Sunday (in terms of the derby game)! [:$]
 3. Oh well, he''s not who the majority of you wanted as manager but it''s good news from a Southend perspective [:D] Best thing you can do is get behind the team (and the manager fully) whenever they take to the pitch.  If you want to show your disdain for the appointment, do it at appropriate times, not when it''s going to affect the players and in turn your chances of staying up. Good luck for the rest of the season, here''s hoping Norwich City v Southend United games are back on the calendar for next season, in the Championship & not in League One!  As I said before, it''s sad to see a club of Norwich''s stature in such difficulty, so here''s to 3 points on Saturday and the start of your escape!
 4. Well, Crofty thought he was Billy Big Bolleaux after his toys out of the pram tantrum at Roots Hall last season!
 5.
100% Steve Tilson to  be unvailed on Tuesday.
And you know this how exactly?
 6. I still think Jewell will wait for the Middlesbrough job, Southgate has 2 games left to prove himself!
 7.
tonight as the Southend Utd reserves take on your lot!! Sorry couldn''t resist!
That wasn''t funny on our board either! Don''t get them all excited! [:#]
 8.
Tilson = Has said in the papers he int been interviewed   OUT
Just out of interest, where has he said this, have you got a weblink? As far as we understood it on the SUFC boards, a reliable source stated they had spoken to one of Tilly''s mates who said he was interviewed by Norwich on Friday.
 9. Mickey Adams is in a job, he''s assistant manager of Col Ewe just now! The Colchester board have already turned down 2 or 3 approaches for him (think QPR was one)!!!
 10.
Southend Utd messageboard (www.shrimperzone.com/vb) has today got a post from someone who has reportedly spoken to one of Steve''s mates who claims Tilly was at Norwich yesterday for an interview.  If you decide he''s the one, compensation to be £600k, yet to be agreed with SUFC board. Can anyone in the know on here, confirm Norwich were indeed interviewing for the manager''s role yesterday? Not good news for us if true, but if you get him, you''ll be getting a true diamond, one of football''s last true good guys!
*** BUMP ***Guessing this got lost in threads relating to the aftermath of yesterday''s game/other potential manager rumours etc.Anybody know if NCFC were indeed interviewing on Friday?
 11.
Yes Jol was there purely enjoyin a game of football. Why else would Houghton be there?! Of all the games to choose he chose that one. To me there is some logic behind this one,......
Houghton is one of Tilly''s mates (they did their Pro Licence courses together), Steve simply invited CH & MJ down to Roots Hall to take their minds off the bad week they''ve both had.If anything (& Tilson does get the Norwich job) I''m guessing Houghton would form part of the backroom team now he''s available.  Also, maybe the Southend chairman would not allow ST to take his current assistants/coaches of Paul Brush & Dean Austin with him to Carrow Road too (unless it was for even more compensation!)Suffice to say, Jol''s appearance has got a lot of Southend fans thinking Jol would get the job if Tilly did go!  What planet are these people on?  Ajax or Roots Hall, deary me (I''d love to see it, but it ain''t ever gonna happen in current circumstances!)

 13.

Doh, that''s me reeled in! [:$] Still, had the desired effect though.
''Twas because you have loyalty & pride for your team(good times or bad)..............nowt wrong with that [H]
Cheers mate for that. It''s clubs like Norwich (& Southend too don''t forget) who hopefully won''t let all these billionaire Yanks/Russians come into English football for short-term profit & rip the heart & soul out of the game.  I have mates who are Watford fans and they spent all last season waiting to get relegated to get back to the world of real football (I''m guessing although you lot probably enjoyed your year in the top flight, there was a lot of you who noticed the atmosphere & passion return once you got back to playing true clubs!)
 14.
ooo whos in a snot then!!!
You would be too if the NCFC player of the millennium had managed your club into Europe lets say (the equivalent for Norwich right now as getting into the Championship was for us 4 years ago) and given you 4 seasons of the best football (& success) you''ve ever known as a supporter and then a perportedly bigger club to yourselves, lets say for instance in this case Spurs seeing as just now they''re managerless, come bounding along making noises through the press about wanting to steal away your manager!!!  I doubt it would go down THAT well........
 15. Doh, that''s me reeled in! [:$] Still, had the desried effect though.
 16.
southend are a little club, even their new ground is gonna be as big as a goldfish bowl, tilson would be nuts to not consider moving to a club with 20,000 season ticket holders. we are bigger, sorry u essex boy but thats that!
I''d phone the doctors if I were you mate. Bigclubitis can be quite nasty if not treated. New stadium 22,000 with plans for easy expansion to 35,000 when necessary.  You must have one hell of a goldfish bowl if that''s small (think you might be confused with that lesser team from up the A12) We don''t profess to be a big club, we know where we stand, we have the potential and a board who (on the whole) listen to their fans! SOUTHEND UNITED FC One Team in Essex
 17. Some very good comments on this thread actually. As somebody who has a lot of respect for the past achievements of Norwch City, you lot are right, this decision is probably one of the most important in the club''s history.  You cannot afford to keep freefalling, look at what''s happened to Bradford City (& to a lesser extent Swindon Town & the Mk Donuts) after their failed Premiership exploits!
 18.
I saw Alan Brazil a year or so ago on West India Quay station platform on the Docklands Light Railway – I believe he lives in the same block as the Marriott Hotel – the one the was involved (or not) in the Spurs food poisoning saga. I was shocked when I saw him – he looked ill, terrible blotchy skin, really overweight and he didn’t walk, it looked he waddled – a bit like a fat duck. From what I saw he needed some serious help in getting himself back to health.
No, it''s just called being a 45 y/o Weegie!!!
 19. He also had a fight with some Rangers fans in Glasgow Airport after the old-firm game last weekend and Strathclyde Police only let him go as he said he needed to return to East Anglia because it was his court-case relating to the drink-driving this week!
 20.
Tilson is good enough to keep us up for now and possibly give us much needed stability - possibly but again it''s an awful big gamble for a club like Norwich in the predicament they''re in to plump for a manager who has only performed for a club he has true connections too (in the past he''s said SUFC are more than a job to him, they''re a passion!) That''s that then - I can remember when Rooney announced "once a blue always a blue." Then promptly moved to United.  Forget loyalty in football that only comes from the Fans not the greedy individuals who are involved in the game.
Rooney was 19, Tilson is almost 40. Rooney involved with Everton for 9 years at most, Tilson at Southend (fan, player, coach & manager) for over 30! It''s a bit different!
 21. If you believe the ColEwe fans, Parkinson''s success at Layer Rd was in the main due to (sorry for swearing on here) Geraint Williams.  Hence that''s why the Sheepworriers did well last season whilst Hull struggled and Planky ultimately got fired from the KC, ending up at Charlton with his old mate Pardew.
 22.
Tilson will get the job - I think that''s 90% done now.
Based on what, some sensationalist EDP article? Or have you got a crystal ball?
 23. He wants to come - how can you be sure of that, other than a dodgy sensationalist article in your local rag? He''s at Southend so compo shouldn''t be much - absolute rubbish, he''s contracted until 2011 and the chairman would in no way let him go on the cheap! Tilson is good enough to keep us up for now and possibly give us much needed stability - possibly but again it''s an awful big gamble for a club like Norwich in the predicament they''re in to plump for a manager who has only performed for a club he has true connections too (in the past he''s said SUFC are more than a job to him, they''re a passion!)
 24. Er, what planet are you on? How is Tilson "tactically very naive"? If by that you mean the Championship was a step too far last season then remember most of our regular team were playing 4th division football 18 months before the start of last season!  The step up in quality was bound to catch some of them out at some point.  Once everybody settled down we were a far better team (think for the 2nd half of the season we were easily mid-table), remember we don''t have the resources to punt stupid money at guys like (over-rated in my opinion) Lee Croft! Tilson sets his teams to play a defined style of football.  He doesn''t tend to tinker with the way they play depending on who the opposition is like a lot of other managers. He has flaws, I''m in no way saying he''s perfect, namely not knowing when to make key substitutions and putting 11 back for corners (a ProLicence student speciality!)
 25. It was a no-brainer, Freddy wanted out after believing his own publicity post Man Utd (he wasn''t really ever the same player in a blue shirt after that goal).  Personally, I feel we sold him a little short to Wolves but hopefully the add-ons will come to fruition one day! He''d have left even if we''d stayed up!
