So surely calling a football player the "potm" is an entirely uncontroversial award that can be used in all situations? I can't see why anyone would object to that.
-
Things change. You would've heard similar (and still will in some places, like Iran) arguments against universal suffrage. I'll still be calling it MOTM out of habit but I can't understand people getting upset about a football *player* being given a *player* of the match award. Absolutely reeks of culture wars nonsense to me.

Didn't he, or one of his entourage, end up in court?

Why do you care?

Pretty damning indictment -
Which winger should we have kept here?

He was barely good enough then and was largely around for his attitude - he's since regressed. Looked absolutely dreadful in the cup games. -

Fair enough on the injury point, I didn't realise that, but I was basing my view on the reports of the games where he did play, which were rather scathing. I hope he comes good - we all should - but it's more hope than expectation at this point -

Hugill should be nowhere near a squad aiming for promotion -

I'm more shocked Tzolis is top. He's absolutely failed at Twente by most accounts. What people think he'd contribute here, I don't know. -

Don't disagree on the Drmic punt - but as you say, his attitude seemed toxic which made it even worse. As for Normann, very strange one. I remember reading a quite a few posts when he first signed that he wasn't a DM, and it seemed to me that they wanted to play Gilmour, PLM and Normann as a 3, with Gilmour potentially being the deeper of the 3 and the other two providing more dynamism and physicality alongside. Worked well, that. -

Indeed - I glanced at his stats and didn't realise he moved mid-season. The point very much remains, though. He wasn't a 'goal machine' by any stretch of the imagination. Webber gambled, and lost, on resurrecting a once promising player who failed to live up to some early promise (seemingly through a combination of questionable attitude and injuries). -

Goal machine? He scored 14 goals in the 6 seasons before joining Norwich. -

de Bruyne, Gundogan, Sane, Firmino, Aubameyang, and Son are also really average -

Burke hasn't started a game this season, scoring 2 goals in 11 sub appearances. The most he's played is 23 mins. Most of his appearances are around 15 mins long. I'm not sure that's convincing evidence of your claim. -

"To be honest, I just now thought about this: frankly, the only real, such a serious guarantor of Ukrainian statehood, sovereignty and territorial integrity could be only Russia, which created today's Ukraine." -Putin, today, talking more "sense". -
That how inflation is displayed since forever. It's also the only way that even remotely makes sense.

Which part do you claim is "sense"? The bit where he's accusing Ukraine of planning to detonate a dirty bomb? Maybe how russia isn't a "bad country"? Or perhaps it's the tired old diatribe about western hegemony and how russia is merely defending itself from the "cosmopolitan elite"? -

According to the man himself, he doesn't even have a gameplan. The players spontaneously come up with it themselves. It's a highly successful model, I gather it's actually James Milner who decides how Liverpool play
