1. how about you get off your computer seat and put some money in the club. Easy to say open your chequebook when its not your money at risk. The board, by appointing roeder, got us out of a hole last year and gave us an extra season in the top flight. maybe they can do it again. Otherwise without the stability of delia we''d be below leeds now.
2. don''t think so, wasn''t the game there postponed this weekend?
3. why not play: Marshall Semmy Doc Omosuzi Drury Bell Cling Hools Lappin Cort Lups Lappin would give more balance, cort would give presence up front, If we get pushed back Lups could fall back in a 4-5-1 with Lappin more central or bringing in Patt/Russel Croft to come on if bell/team are just rubbish. Im a firm believer in having players in the right place, either that or change your system.   please feel free to agree/disagree etc
4. Was at the match, a very good point. I think a guy near me summed it up, ''If you''d have started playing at 3 instead of 20 to 5 we''d be flippin alright'' Defence looked nervous, midfield clueless & in attack - well sibs is all i need to say. didn''t agree with the boo''s & roeder out chants at the end - i think a stone cold silence would have been more effective. Although we did clap back one or two of the players who came over and applauded us - i think it was hoolahoop (not a bad game, ran the most with lups), lupoli & clinghan. every other bugger naffed off.
5. This is one of the more positive negative posts i''ve seen on this site for a long time. Like most canary fans i think both me and you are being cautiosly optimistic with signings made - Cureton - ok, Gilks - there was supposed premiership interest, Brellier - held in high esteem by his old hearts fans which is always good and marshall - so highly regarded by our management staff. However all off this progress counts for nothing if we dont bring in a few more players, midfielder to replace Hughes, defender cover for LB,CB + RB if colin goes (maybe cave-brown can make the step up?) and another striker to compensate for the loss of earnie (i''m never going to consider cureton as a direct replacement for him).   it is nice however as a canary fan to actually look forward to more possible signings.
6. well said cjf, please do a tad more research mate. for a start hes described as a tough tackling defensive midfielder (which we dont really have - yeah ok Saf but he likes getting forward +his fitness is up for debate) who can read the game and fill in when others break forward - doing what hargreaves does for england. Etuhu scored a fair few last season, maybe with a higher level of consistency he can score more this season while enabling us to have a solid defensive base. The crying need last season was for us to concede less - wolves didnt score that many more than us but conceded alot less and got in the play-offs.   as for thorne - ditto
7. having heard alot of talk about loaning calum davenport for a season it got me thinking, would i rather get someone on loan for a year, pay a fee and wages and then lose them at the end of the year or buy someone hungry at the start or endish of their career?   obviously with players near the end of their career we risk a la thorne and young players may not cut the mustard, however my housemate (leeds fan) is highly critial of the lads they had on loan last year (bar thompson) and personally i''d rather buy someone, improve them and sell them onto a rich club for a stupid amount and then buy them back a year or 2 later for a fraction of the price.   whats everyone take on this, splash out on a loan or buy someone we may be able to get a transfer fee for at a later date?
8. Ace job here guys, hopefully one of you will be tottering off to more press conferences within the week
9. im with you on this - colchester want £750,000 for him which i think is way to much for a 31 year old. i''d much rather this amount was spent on a younger player , for example David Marshall.
10. his excuse is he''s had a long season - what happens next summer if he''s picked for the senior squad, will he pull out then - not a chance in hell, the guys just go too cocky again
11. i''d just like to know what peoples views are regarding the idea that we are/are not or have been whats known as a ''big club''. this just occured to me as i''d like to know where people think NCFC should naturally be? thanks for any response to this, but please keep out and in-fighting there is on this site.
12. well i wouldn''t quite say that i cheat on my beloved yellow other half, but i have been dabbling in the results of 3 teams, Doncaster because i used to live there, and lancaster and morcombe (spelling?) because i went to uni at lancaster and they are the 2 local clubs
13. yes, because earnshaw was a big risk at championship level. i dont agree with the theme of what he''s saying, but at least hes honest - how many players state of their love for a club promptly to be sold - a la rooney "once a blue etc"
14. he''s 19/20 (not sure which), impressed on loan at stockport which is completly different level to championship. don''t get me wrong i think he''s defo one for the future (maybe give him a solid season out on loan) and maybe this is why we''re linked with danny coyne (33) so he can take over for 1-2 seasons while lewis matures a bit more
15. this has been disucssed alot, the general idea is look at his record - he scores, ok he may not run all the way back to defend but given how much he does score, i''ll give him that! as too how much we''d sell him for i think maybe £5million, bearing in mind we bought him for £3million, i think if he''d have not got injured he''d have scored 30+ and then maybe gone this reason - his scoring rate in the premiership when used properly was excellent.
16.
I read it in Shoot magazine and on the back of the Daily ''quality rudey read'' Sport........ Did you see the pics of Girl''s Aloud on stage in the Sport Today? They''re well fit, and even that ginger lass is well tidy and fanciable these days.......Just goes to show, beauty is only skin deep, and not just when you''ve had 10 pints of Stella.[B]   Now, what was this thread about again?[:|]
do you er, think we could get them on at half time to put of the opposition teams?
17. WBA for the simple reason that if they go up next byear the league will only have 3 parachute payment recievers attempting to buy up the best talents, much like birmingham this year!. this year they''ve had all the players to walk the division, they just havent clicked. whereas Derby may have had an overachieving year like leeds last year (or at least this is me hoping)
18. i agree with the 2 strikers, however do we need both as look at our main striker? i''d love, Neil Alexander but never Danny Coyne the ex-burnley old codger   defence is our crucial area, get a GK, few DF and 1/2 CM depending on what happens to safri
19. the ability to make profit in the championship and the premiership are 2 different things tho, espec considering the bumper sky money now.
20. its a logical concusion, also fantastic business. imagine spending £20 million to get us in the premiership, we''d then get a minimum of £30 million. if we stayed up more than one season we''d have made back the initial investment for whoever and be in the premier league.   go on, do it. u no u want to.
21. if grants been promised a £6million summer ''war chest'' maybe we only had £4million of it - therefore this is where the extra loan comes in to keep the club at its budgeted budgets? well, 6 million. think about it
22. i doubt he''ll get regular starts as he''s only 19 n i''d rather see him on loan playin than on the bench
23. the board promised grant a budget (guessing when he joined), if there short (and we''re supposed to be a cautiosly run business) by 2 million would that maybe be the range of the sum Grant was promised? mind u they probs promised him 10 shillings and thrupence just a thought
24. seriously are you people for real?  only 3-4 million for Earni when we paid at least 3m for him! yes his team play is poor but he scores goals for fun - he is an exceptional championship striker, not a ''good'' one as i read some muppet described him as. a player who plays with a team as shockin as ours and being out for 3-4 months is still in the top 3 top scorers in the division! could you have imagined the damage he''d have done if sunderland had bought him at the start of the season. 5.5-6 is the bare minimum i''d accept only on the promise that is all goes on new players.
25. its all very well to compare grant to new managers like keane at sunderland but at least he has been able to get players in - stokes, stern john, miller to name a few. we''ve not really got anyone in, nor does it seem can we afford to espec with the end of our parachute payments. see what happens in the summer maybe we will get a few bargins like lappin seems to be.
