1.

You can''t put someone on the bench who isn''t up to the job, really you can''t. So we''re 2-1 up and Forster gets sent off and Theo steps between the sticks to face a pen. Really, it can''t happen. I should imagine that Lappin did enough in the reserves and in training to convince Mr lambert that he was worthy of recall, Theo clearly hasn''t. The fan''s opinion doesn''t matter here, Lambert sees Theo in training, and its his opinion that counts. If Paul Lambert ever sees fit to recall Theo it will be because he deserves it and is ready, and I shall back the manager''s decision and get right behind Theo.
The point is that we don''t truly know if he''s up to the job or not, because he''s not been given the chance to show it. Let''s not also forget that Doherty was on his way out of the club with Lambert''s blessing, and was only recalled due to injuries - not performances for the reserves. So again, why is it ok for Doherty to get the chance just because of injury, and not Theo? No manager is infallible, but until we see more of Theo we just don''t really know if Lambert is right or not in this instance, I''m more than willing to back Lambert''s judgment, but I don''t think Theo should be unfairly slated on a single game, and virtually non-existent evidence regarding reserve team performances.
Was Doherty truly on his way out of the club? Or was it just mind games from the manager? I said at the time that I wouldn''t be surprised to see Doherty come back into the team and that the manager would know when the time was right. Perhaps injuries forced the change but I think Doherty has shown, once again, that he''s the best defender at the club. As for Theo... I didn''t like him in pre-season (which, again, I said at the time) we all know what happened in the Colchester game and since then I''ve seen him play for the reserves and he was errr not very good. The manager sees him on the training pitch everyday and has obviously seen plenty enough to form a solid judgement. He''s just not good enough.
No, not clever mind games. he just left him out .. and Russell.........and Hoolahan....Indeed, Lambert himself has subsequently admitted that leaving out Hoolahan was an error of judgement. Lambert is an excellent manager but he is fallible like everybody else.... and still learning his trade.
 2. 4-1 to Norwich. Lua Lua to score for Brighton.Brother key to Brighton loan move - Kazenga LuaLua Kazenga LuaLua had a spell on loan at Doncaster Rovers last season New Brighton winger Kazenga LuaLua says his older brother Lomana was key in persuading him to join on loan from Newcastle United. Kazenga, 19, turned to his brother, who had spells with the Magpies and Portsmouth, after struggling to make an impact at St James'' Park this season. "He pushed me to go out on loan because I was quite down about it," he said. "He told me to go on loan and get some first team football because I wasn''t getting a game at Newcastle." Kazenga has only made three appearances for Newcastle this season, the last coming in the Magpies'' Carling Cup defeat at Peterborough in September. He has joined the Seagulls on a one-month loan deal and is hoping to impress manager Gus Poyet. "If the manager wants me to stay longer then I''m happy with that," he told BBC Sussex. "I know they''re not in a great position in the table but I''ve come here to play my best and help the team get more points."
 3.

I know its a little bit off topic but does anyone know how bad this guy actually is? Obviously we have all seen the 7-1 highlights and that was honestly one of the worst performances I have seen from a professional keeper. But is he usually that bad? Just wondering if anyone has watched training or the reserve games in which he has played in. Obviously I dont want him anywhere near the first team picture because we have three excellent goalkeepers at the club who need football but surely a conference national or conference north/south team would take him on loan for a bit?
I can''t imagine anyone would want to pay his wages. In fairness to Theoklitos, it''s not his fault Gunn chose to single him out and convice him to move him and his family over here. If I were in his position, I''d probably wait to get my contract paid up too.
As Pete said earlier in this thread, not so much Gunn''s fault as Crooks. Gunn''s mistake was to listen to Crook''s recommendation and play Theo ahead of Alnwick against Colchester, and the rest of course is history. I prefer to remember Gunn for bringing us Holt, Askou, Hughes and, indeed, Nelson but, yes, his one big mistake was listening to and acting upon the advice of his close friend who ironically is still at the club.
Lol! As manager it was Gunn who had the final say as to who he signed. If what you are saying was true he signed him without watching him play or scouting reports? Just on 1 recomendation! No wonder he got sacked!
LOL !!! As you say. It seems that Gunn can''t win. Not so long ago when posters on here were congratulating Gunn for bringing in Holt etc the "we hate all things Gunn brigade" retaliated with the claim that it wasn''t Gunn who made decisions about players but Butterworth and Crook so Gunn deserved no credit at all. I wonder if you were one of them. LOL, indeed. On a more sober note, didn''t Theo play in any of the pre-season matches ? I don''t know which is why i ask the question. I''ve always said that Gunn''s big mistake was Theo, after all Gunn of all people should have been able to judge whether or not Theo was a good goalie. That having been said, there is no doubt that it was obviously Crook who highly recommended Theo and Gunn seems to have given Theo his chance based upon video of Theo''s best goalkeeping moments in Oz and Crook''s recommendation. But clearly Gunn shouldn''t have played him in such an important opening match of the campaign.

 5. I see that football fans are no respecters of the good old homily "Don''t count your chickens ..........." and of course " he who laughs last laughs the loudest". I prefer to keep quiet until the end of the season.
 6.

mcnally just sed on radio 5, that we are in talks with a new player, woo hoo
Well, after all we are now due for a bit of a cash injection from News of the Screws !
Hope we get someone a worth more than the £20 and Curley Wurley that the NOTW will give us once their lawyers have got onto the case.
Their lawyers haven.t got a chance. They''ll be advising NOTW to settle as soon as possible. They''re bang to rights.
 7. Mmmm. I don''t have a problem with him or that statement.

 9.
What a result!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That''s more like it - more appropriate than "that''s a handy loss" !!!
 10. Hmmm, I wonder how long it will be before Lambert goes to a bigger club. If we fail to get promotion he''ll be off and if we do gain promotion other, bigger clubs will be in for him. That will be the true test of McNally. We can all talk the talk.

If we can just get Camuldung (or whatever the jorno of the year calls himself) to say he''ll never post on a Norwich City Site, never in a million years, my day will be complete :o)
Frankly, Camuldonum''s posts are normally much more intersting than the vast majority on here and he never degenerates into abuse just because someone else offers a different opinion.
Absolutely right, he doesn''t throw abuse at people at all, he just likes to be condescending and patronising towards people. Prize prat I am afraid (in my opinion of course!)!
I take people as I find them. He''s never been patronising or condescending to me. To be honest, I have rarely read any of his posts which have been condescending or patronising apart from in response to unpleasant and abusive posts from a few people on here. can''t blame him for that.

 13. Seems pretty straightforward to me. he''s obviously miffed that Lambert hasn''t come back in for him so he''s slagging us off to endear himself to Colchester fans.
 14. I know someone in Portsmouth who is a season ticket holder.
 15. "on our new manager Mr A. Boothroyd." So, Lambert is going to QPR ! Looks like Colchester Utd is becoming our feeder club for Norwich managers !
 16. I suppose that from now on empty heads will link Lambert with every club management job above our level that becomes available.
 17.

... Have not heard one reasonable thing said by the ''pro-Gunn'' contingent yet.
Well, in that case you must be completely blinkered. What a silly statement to make. Having read all the posts on here I conclude thst the pro Gunn posters are making reasonable, thoughtful and calm points whilst the anti Gunn lobby seem to be rabidly dogmatic churning out all the usual claptrap about "Gunn getting us relegated etc" Interestingly the anti Gunn posters seem to resort to abuse and nastiness at the first hint of disagreement from the pro Gunn posters whilst the latter continue being reaonable.
the latter tend to ignore all reasonable argument and refuse to answer a straight question - Bob Franklin has disappeared. So I''ll ask you the same question as this thread is about GUNN''s ARTICLE TODAY which no pro - Gunn (as you put it) poster has answered yet.Do you think Bryan Gunn could have shown some regret? (rather than saying he wouldn''t change a thing)Yes or no sir?
I''m not surprised Bob franklin disappeared, he seems to have ansered your point pretty well in his last post on this subject. In any case looking at the times it looks like he was posting from work. By the way it isn''t Gunn''s article as you put it. The EDP decided to contact him for an interview and he gave it. fair play to him. As far as regrets are concerned I believe the tenor of his responses is embodied within the Edith Piaf song Je regrette rien. There is no doubt that he must be sad that his beloved club was relegated whilst he was manager, to my mind that goes wihtout saying. From what I have read of your posts on the subject there is no point in trying to discuss this subject with you. You seem to want your pound of flesh and by God come what may you''re detremined to get it. sad really. never mind.
 18.
I like Redknap, but he is dodgy.
ha ha, I think he''s dodgy too but if after months/years of investigation costing over a million quid the best the Revenue can do is prosecute for £40K then commonsense says that they shoujld have quietly withdrawn a while ago instead of pursuing the matter. Like I said it smacks of spite (not at all melodramatic to say this) and the fera of loss of face - at our expense.

 20.

A few other good decisions by Gunn : bringing back Cureton,
Well you''ve got me there Bob, can''t really argue that this wasn''t a managerial masterstroke can we?
Eh ! Was Bob claiming a "managerial masterstroke" ? seems to me that you''re just being a bit of a ........... here
 21.
Semi was pretty clueless, someone may be able to make a player out of him but he just doesn''t seem to take anything onboard. You would think Culverhouse would know a decent RB when he saw one.
Excellent point re Culverhouse.
 22.

Posted a comment today and fourty - five minutes later it had mysteriously disappeared. Does this site have a supervisor who removes posts they consider unsuitable or irrelevant? My post earlier today contained no offensive language or comments, and I''m a bit miffed it has been removed.
Hi Spartan, I don''t recall deleting one of your posts today, although it has been a long day. I did merge your school teachers post with the existing school teachers thread already on here if that''s the post you''re referring to. If a message was deleted an email will have been sent to the email address you supplied in your account details saying so, but the same doesn''t apply to the merging or moving of posts unfortunately.
Blimey, 1000''s die in horrendous Haiti earthquake and, mmmm, Web Team Pete decides to merge two threads because of similar although essentially different themes. I suppose on that basis all threads about the forthcoming Colchester game and Cowling should be merged. Ah, the oxygen of authority, oh to be a message board moderator or, indeed, a junior school milk monitor.
 23. So you must be in your late fifties I guess. I would love to take early retirement on a decent pension and spend more time doing things that I want to do but I made my bed and I''ve got to lie in it ! It''s not too bad really but what you have to factor into the equation when you read people''s opinions about teachers is the good old fashioned green eyed monster of jealousy ! Good luck to you is what I say and, yes, you are right, the thought of getting up every day and having to face and try and motivate 30 16yr olds at 9.00 every day of my working life scares the hell out of me ! My dad was a teacher and I know how much time he spent working every evening and at weekends so I know the old "well, teachers have a short working day and look at their long holidays" nonsense is just that.
 24.
He was good at Championship level and since we got ourselves sorted out under Lambert he''s barely put a foot wrong in any game this season. I expect the manager will continue to pick him this season and next season as long as the finances are there.
We got ourselves sorted out under Gunn. He didn''t put a foot wrong away at yeovil when we won 4-0 but he had a solid looking Spillane alongside him in that game. By contrast, we drew 3-3 away at yeovil in december with Lambert at the helm and our defence looked decidely shakey. Granted that the Doc scored a great goal but he was not convincing in defence that day and we conceded 3 goals. I went to both games and City''s performace there in the Carling cup was fabulous and dramatically better than the susbequent 3-3 draw there only a few months later. Don''t get me wrong, I like Lambert a great deal, I don''t want to "have his babies", but he is clearly a good manager. That having been said I get a bit sick of the constant over-the -top eulogising about Lambert - "he''s only a good player because Lambert is a great master of people psychology and brings the best out of players unlike Gunn" botox
 25. "its pretty well paid" - that''s a first, I don''t think I have ever heard a teacher say that. Out of curiosity. what was your last annual salary and is your pension scheme a "final salary" scheme ? My experience of teachers is that some were good and some were poor but then that''s the same in any walk of life. I didn''t go into teaching at the time I was making my career choice because the money wasn''t good enough and I didn''t regard it as sufficient of a vocation to compromise on my quality of life.
