In truth, too early to make a judgement but my view is that he clearly lacks confidence, makes our back four nervous and is prone to dropping clangers. Lambert has clearly shown what a good manager he is at league 1 level and let''s hope he proves equally as good at Championship level. I haven''t seen enough of Whitbread to make a judgement but I saw Askou a number of times last season and he impressed me (but so did Spillane to be honest). As for Nelson, I think he is a poor man''s Doherty. Good at League One level but definitely too slow and ponderous at Championship level.

What a poor performance. Lambert has had one year to sort out our defence and, apart from Drury, the defenders appeared clueless. I couldn''t believe how badly they performed and the midfield wasn''t much better either. As for Ruddy, well, what can you say ? Calamitous is probably an appropriate description of him and his performance. The scoreline 3-2 flattered us and IMO Watford could have scored six or, dare I say it, seven goals. Had Gunn been in charge the residents on this MB would have been swarming all over each other to be the most insulting. As for Simeon Jackson, early days of course, but hardly an inspired debut and I reckon good old Cody could beat him for pace. Poor choice IMO, Lambert should have gone for a big target man (Akinfenwa perhaps) because without Holt we look as threatening as a dead sheep. All in all, after the inevitable build-up of expectations, a thoroughly depressing Championship opener. Let''s hope that Lambert can replicate Gunn last year and motivate the team to bounce back tonight with a 4-0 victory and some scintillating football aka the away performance against Yeovil. I will be delighted if he does.

You can''t blame Russell for choosing financial security over loyalty to Norwich at this stage of his career. In any case loyalty is a two way thing. Clubs are quick to dispose of players when they are no longer required so you can''t blame players for showing the same lack of loyalty to clubs. Gunn''s refusal to sell Russell, despite significant pressure from several quarters, was impressive and Russell played a vital role for the team despite initial problems with Lambert. The Pink Un today refers to Lambert''s refusal to sell Russell in January despite offers being received and I find that very strange and IMO pretty stuipid bearing in mind that Lambert had months to identify and bring in a replacement for Russell which would have enabled the club to sell him in January. Instead, nothing was done and he left on a free at the end of the season.

And, yes, I do rate Forster more highly than Green.

Most playesr leave because they are either furthering their career or further lining their pockets, that''s obvious. It''s where they go to and/or what they say about us after they leave which directly influences my opinion of them. In the case of Green, I agree with the poster on here who preferred Forster. I thought/think that Green is a good goalkeeper but IMo definitely not international class. Big mistake by Capello. I would definitely have preferred Forster to Green for that crucial opening match although of course it should have been the experienced and mature David James. It was what Green said after he joined the Shammers that peed me off so I would neither clap nor boo him if he ever returns to Carrow Road. Maybe I have a problem but I don''t find it easy to forgive disloyalty and I am always amused by the Murray supporters on here who so readily forgot his rabid anti-england antics.

[/quote] Exactly my point. That''s the age range when talent normally shines through and in a league which is frequented by scuts but no one took a chance on him until Gillingham came in for him. One good season in league One doesn''t mean very much - look at Cureton, golden boot award in the Champiionship and then a complete flop after that at Norwich.
