2 weeks ago : - "paul Lambert is the greatest human being to have ever lived"10pm Friday - Paul Lambert is an idiot!we lose the first game of the season and everyone thinks its a disaster. Lets worry if were are winless after 10 games shall we?people here have some strange expectations of the club, we arent going to spend our way to the premiership and shook look at consolidation this season, Lambert knows what he is doing and is the best manager we have had here since Walker, ok so we lost 1 game. but its ONE game, if we go out and win tonight and saturday then embrake on a 15 match unbeaten run there will still be people baying for blood.Lets see who this seasons "donkey" will be.. someone who will play well but will be chastised because its something to do.. thats the Norwich way isnt it?
errr, I don''t recall anyone calling Lambert an idiot. More and more fans are starting to question some of his decisions as opposed to being slaves to the silly In Lambert We Trust dogma but I certainly don''t recall reading any post in which the Lambert is described as an idiot. proof please.

In truth, too early to make a judgement but my view is that he clearly lacks confidence, makes our back four nervous and is prone to dropping clangers. 6.
I can''t believe there can be another club''s fans in the country who slate a young striker who has come through the ranks as much as our fans slate Chris Martin. What a talent he is, 23 goals last season and a wide variety of goals too. He can score from anywhere and his free kicks are immense! He is still only 22 I think, so let''s give him the backing he deserves. He is actually more level headed than many people think and comes across well on interviews too. Well done Chrissy and thanks for the report, Hucks. You Legend.
Mmm... who/where are these fans who "slate" Martin ? I haven''t read or heard any criticism of him for a long time. Anybody with half a footballing brain can see what a bright talent he is.
 7.
"So you dont trust Lambert"Please can we have some balance. Im not the sort of person who will criticize players and managers when they do the slightest thing wrong, however I will never have blind faith in anyone. Lambert has shown he is a good manager. Is he perfect? Of course not. So I dont see how he can be above constructive criticism. I trust him at the moment to do a good job. But do I trust him to do a perfect job and get every decision right? Of course not. As for the actual issue at hand, I havent seen enough of Askou (In training) or Whitbread (At all) to really judge.
Good reponse TC. Lambert has clearly shown what a good manager he is at league 1 level and let''s hope he proves equally as good at Championship level. I haven''t seen enough of Whitbread to make a judgement but I saw Askou a number of times last season and he impressed me (but so did Spillane to be honest). As for Nelson, I think he is a poor man''s Doherty. Good at League One level but definitely too slow and ponderous at Championship level.
 8.
someone had to do itMO''N coming to us though
What ? After Friday nights shambolic performance from the team put together by Lambert after one year in charge ? I don''t think so !
 9. What a poor performance. Lambert has had one year to sort out our defence and, apart from Drury, the defenders appeared clueless. I couldn''t believe how badly they performed and the midfield wasn''t much better either. As for Ruddy, well, what can you say ? Calamitous is probably an appropriate description of him and his performance. The scoreline 3-2 flattered us and IMO Watford could have scored six or, dare I say it, seven goals. Had Gunn been in charge the residents on this MB would have been swarming all over each other to be the most insulting. As for Simeon Jackson, early days of course, but hardly an inspired debut and I reckon good old Cody could beat him for pace. Poor choice IMO, Lambert should have gone for a big target man (Akinfenwa perhaps) because without Holt we look as threatening as a dead sheep. All in all, after the inevitable build-up of expectations, a thoroughly depressing Championship opener. Let''s hope that Lambert can replicate Gunn last year and motivate the team to bounce back tonight with a 4-0 victory and some scintillating football aka the away performance against Yeovil. I will be delighted if he does.
 10.
macnamee is $h!t [y] Gill is a more important player when we are playing the diamond and should take his place.
MacNamee is shit ?! how very dare you, he was brought in by Lambert and lambert does no wrong. Please do not post such heresies on this MB again.

Its relative! And anyway so is russel far from the concept of the breadline! ..The point is,anyone (as long as they are not in a situation where it was imperative for them to earn more wonga),would not automatically go to another club for even more money....
Yes, I think we all agree on that.Darel Russell, specifically, did go looking for more money. Not all players would automatically do that. He did.
........... and given that he is not in the same league as Gerrard etc, Russell will not have loads of "wonga" so cannot be blamed for hoping for a last big pay day. After all, what''s he going to do when his footballing career is over ? In anycase, not sure why so many of you are p''d off that he''s gone, as most of the posts about him over the last twelve months have been critical. I''ve always rated him and I''m surprised we let him go but given that we clearly did not make enough of an effort to keep him we should have sold him when we had the chance in january.
 12.
I''ve witnessed several similar cases in magistrates courts, and they get adjourned for all sorts of reasons. Often, the person being required at work is ample reason to ''postpone'' the case until another date. In fact, one case I saw was adjourned due to the defendant being unable to find a babysitter for his child! Even if wasn''t adjourned, these kinds of cases are often settled in literally a matter of minutes. The only issue is if (for whatever reason) there''s a hold-up/back-log at the courts, and Holt''s case doesn''t begin on time. But then even if that happened it''d probably end up being adjourned before mid-day, leaving plenty of time to get back. I''d be very surprised if Holt doesn''t play tomorrow.
Given that Magistrates Courts operate during the working week being required at work is not an acceptable excuse unless perhaps you are a brain surgeon. Needing to play football for your club is not a valid reason for adjournment which is why it was rejected. Not having someone to look after your baby is of course a valid excuse however unbelievable it might be that the accused can''t find a baby sitter. I agree that Holt will be available, because let''s face it, the cost of a helicopter to bring him to Norfolk is not going to be prohibitive.

 14.
Is it not possible for the club to ask for the hearing to be rescheduled? It''s extremely unfortunate, being one of the few weekdays during the year when he''s needed.
The Pink Un reports solemnly that "Holt''s legal team tried to get the case adjourned to enable him to play, but magistrates at Shrewsbury refused his solicitor''s request." Why the feck you need a legal team to apply for an adjournment God knows. In any case, what a formidable argument o support an application for an adjournment i.e. "our client is playing football on that day, your honour" ! The only surprise is that the Court Administrator didn''t reply saying that , if found guilty, Holt would be required to return for sentence hearing on 28th September at 16.30.
 15. You can''t blame Russell for choosing financial security over loyalty to Norwich at this stage of his career. In any case loyalty is a two way thing. Clubs are quick to dispose of players when they are no longer required so you can''t blame players for showing the same lack of loyalty to clubs. Gunn''s refusal to sell Russell, despite significant pressure from several quarters, was impressive and Russell played a vital role for the team despite initial problems with Lambert. The Pink Un today refers to Lambert''s refusal to sell Russell in January despite offers being received and I find that very strange and IMO pretty stuipid bearing in mind that Lambert had months to identify and bring in a replacement for Russell which would have enabled the club to sell him in January. Instead, nothing was done and he left on a free at the end of the season.
 16.
what a load of rubbish!Green made 1 mistake in a game England didnt even lose.... that says it all.
I don''t think anybody is focusing just upon the mistake in the England v USA game so it''s silly to suggest that. I have watched Green play many times. he''s a good, reactive, shot-stopper but IMO has poor positional sense, looks far from solid and never looks in full command of the 6 yard box. IMO he lacks height and confidence and although a good goalkeeper he''s a long way from being of truly international class which is why he has never been able to make the England jersey his own. And, yes, I do rate Forster more highly than Green.
 17. Most playesr leave because they are either furthering their career or further lining their pockets, that''s obvious. It''s where they go to and/or what they say about us after they leave which directly influences my opinion of them. In the case of Green, I agree with the poster on here who preferred Forster. I thought/think that Green is a good goalkeeper but IMo definitely not international class. Big mistake by Capello. I would definitely have preferred Forster to Green for that crucial opening match although of course it should have been the experienced and mature David James. It was what Green said after he joined the Shammers that peed me off so I would neither clap nor boo him if he ever returns to Carrow Road. Maybe I have a problem but I don''t find it easy to forgive disloyalty and I am always amused by the Murray supporters on here who so readily forgot his rabid anti-england antics.

 19.

I know this is a bit, presumptuous. However, it''s still a bit worrying, I''m not passing judgement, just intrigued into what his game is all about and wether he is at peak fitness..
I too am still trying to work out what we have here, even after now seeing him in 3 matches. There''s the odd glimpse of an Earnshaw and at other times more a Defoe (but not as good obviously), but in those three matches I''ve yet to see him have a strike on target. Theres plenty of running there and closing down of defenders but until we get to see him have a real chance in front of goal ,its probably too early to tell.
What a relief ! A constructive reply to the original poster who made some perfectly reasonable points but was met with the predictable "Board Out, PL out etc etc" diatribe. Personally, I have been dubious about this signing from the start and particularly if, as rumoured, we paid £500k for Jackson. TBH if he was that impressive then he would have already have been picked up by bigger clubs than us. That having been said, I obviously hope I am wrong and Simeon jackson proves quickly to be the shrewdest signing of Lambert''s short managerial career.
 20. How refreshing to read some genuinely constructive and objective observations about Gunn. What a nice contrast to the normal blinkered stuff from old farts on here such as TIL1010 and the Pontificator.
 21.
and the players he kept ..? Martin ...? Wes.....? did not the board want to sell wes ,and gunn wanted to keep him..? Hughes..? thought he was good this season . the 3 men Gunny either kept or brought in scored all our goals . I rate lambert ... like every city fan . But, what ever anyone thinks .. gunny built a squad that was good enough to get us out of that division ,through a fluke result or bad tactic ..who knows ..? we won away the next game 4-0. rate the man or not ... he did not rip this squad apart like the loan ranger ,he re-built it without loan players on a small budget for a division city had not been in for 50 years. great player for this club ...as a fan loved his nearly head-but the post,as he run onto the pitch . As a manger ..not good enough through lack of experience and tactical knowledge..but as a city fan ,im glad the man played a part here ,and respect his guts. I wont sit here and slate a man who has gone for it ,with odds stacked against him half way through a season with a team full of players from other clubs ,who could not be bothered. Gunny bashing is a bit boring , and this man played for city a week after his daughter died , wind me up when people do not look at the bigger picture . respect to the big man .
Good, thoughtful, objective post............ so, what''s it doing on here ?! Seriously, don''t expect much rational discussion on this MB, it''s all a bit one-dimensional i.e. Gunn=all bad, Lambert=all good. Peronally, and given the disastrously, chronicall bad situation that Gunn inherited, I thought he was re-building well. The 7-0 drubbing by Colchester just gave the McUglyone the opportunity to get rid of Gunn so no one can say either way what Gunn''s team would have achieved. By the same token, respect to Lambert for what he has achieved and only time will tell how good/bad some of his signings will prove to be.
 22.

Nowhere near as exciting as Gunn''s signing of Holt, what an inspired signing that turned out to be. Jackson seems to have potential but if he''s that good, I''m surprised that he spent years at Rushden and Diamonds. However, "in Lambert we trust" so I''m confident that Jackson will turn out to be every bit as effective and successful as Holt has been.
Maybe be because he played for them between the age of 17 - 21.
Exactly my point. That''s the age range when talent normally shines through and in a league which is frequented by scuts but no one took a chance on him until Gillingham came in for him. One good season in league One doesn''t mean very much - look at Cureton, golden boot award in the Champiionship and then a complete flop after that at Norwich.

 24.
Note to Norwich, this is how you appoint a manager, Aidy is now speaking to them AFTER compensation has been agreed. We''ll get compensation for Lambert''s replacement before Lambert himself FFS!
How can you possibly ahve a claim for compensation against Norwich for Lambert when within days of Lambert leaving your chairman was proudly announcing the appointment of Boothroyd stating that Boothroyd was a better managre than Lambert !
 25. To be fair, he didn''t inherit as good a squad from Lambert as Lambert did from Gunn.
