1.
http://new.edp24.co.uk/content/sport/story.aspx?brand=EDPOnline&category=Sport&tBrand=EDPOnline&tCategory=Sport&itemid=NOED26%20Feb%202009%2008%3A28%3A09%3A867 I actually despise this man more than Smith now![:@]
Well Wiz, Doncaster is fond of saying that Norwich City Football Club should be run efficiently and professionally like any other business but, of course the owners of any other business which has recorded year on year failure and decline would self-evidently have sacked the MD a long time ago.
 2. Well Ricardo, you definitely sound down in the mouth and because, sitting down here in Southampton, I await your report after every home game, I must admit that it disturbed me ! I managed to kick the ball past my dog at the first attempt when I took him for a walk today so naturally I thought it would be a 1-0 for us today ! I see that this is your 56th season supporting Norwich and I must go back a similar period of time. The firt game I remember my father taking me to was the 2nd leg of the league cup final against Rochdale,  a mid week evening game if I remember correctly. Now the old third division is a real possibility again after half a century. Not a happy prospect. However, I still feel that we are overdue some luck and that clubs around us have a more difficult run in. I''m not someone who feels that you should always "take the positives" from games because this has become too trite but one positive for me was Daley having a run out. I hope he is given more of a chance. Have a good evening Ricardo.
 3.
Could not agree more about the defence, especially the centre. But as for the main question; Heart says no way, not possible. Head says it''s now almost certain :(
I guess we can all take comfort from the fact that supporters of at least 4 other clubs are all saying the same thing. If you want cheering up look at the remaining fixtures of all the other clubs below and just above us.
 4.

In fact, we had Stefanovic sent off and a penalty awarded for a foul committed outside the area, their goalkeeper made some outstanding saves and, as with so many games this season, we should have won. Luck was against us again.
We should change our motto above the door to "Our luck was out again" If as they continue to chant it''s all bad luck, which of that lot:- 1. Broke several mirrors 2. Killed all the black cats in Norwich. 3. Spilt salt 4. Walked under all those ladders Oh and crossed their fingers when they told lies!!
The fact is that many of our performances starting at Coventry in the very first game of the season have been much better than results have suggested. The quality of some of our football at Coventry was excellent at times during the game and, as on so many occasions, we somehow managed not to score from the opportunities that came our way. At Southampton, had Stefanovic not been unjustly sent off and a penalty awarded I think we would have won the game. Their keeper pulled off some amazing saves in the first half and the sending off changed the game. At Reading, we dominated most of the game, squandered two nailed-on chances in the first half, Roeder was then IMO guilty of gross negligence in the 2nd half when he failed to bring off Russell and put on Lupoli and then with less than 10 minutes to go Reading got a dubious penalty and another game slipped from our grasp. I guess that all teams can point to examples of bad luck but based upon the macthes I have been to and reports of others that I have read it has seemed that this season Lady Luck has deserted us.
 5. From Southampton-Mad Southampton took a further giant step towards the footballing oblivion of League One as they went down to another defeat in which they displayed some battling spirit but no cutting edge. Relegation is not yet a mathematical certainty, but any Saints fan who believes we are remotely likely to secure half a dozen wins from our remaining games is guilty not merely of over-optimism, but self-delusion on a grand scale.Akin to witnessing a loved one withering away from a terrible illness, many Saints fans will hope that the end comes as swiftly and painlessly as possible. In a period of just six years, Southampton will have gone from playing at the Millennium stadium to playing at Milwall, from playing in Bucharest to playing in Brentford. Only Leeds United''s spectacular fall from grace has been steeper and faster. And with Saints'' precarious finances, we would be fools to believe that things are likely to improve any time soon. There are no grounds for comfort as a Saints fan today. None whatsoever. On a grey, chilly West Country afternoon, the sinking feeling is made worse still by suffering defeat at the hands of Bristol City - like Saints, a fairly modest football club from a large city; unlike Saints, a well-managed, stable club with plans to expand and a very realistic chance of breaking through into the Premiership elite.
 6. I think we will stay up because I hold to the belief that we are improving and that we will start winning games beginning this weekend and, perhaps more importantly, looking at the fixtures of the other teams around us it seems logical that they will fail. I believe that we will end up 19th ahead of Watford, Barnsley, Southampton, Charlton and Plymouth.

 11.
I''m sure I remember a story that the Doc was first or second fastest in the squad over 100 metres a season or so ago. Was I dreaming or does anyone else remember this?
Yes, but what''s he like over 10 metres from a standing start or on the turn as an attacker whips past him ?   Like I already said, no one can fault his commitment and the fact that he "bleeds yellow and green" (although some anti Norwich player zealots on here use this expression as a sneering criticism) but my concern over the Doc is that when he makes an error, like Marshall, it''s usually terminal although it has to be said that the goal on Saturday was not the Doc''s fault. I really like the Doc but I have to say that he makes me nervous when I watch him play and I wonder if he has the same effect on those around him.

Still not clear whether Doc''s foot connected with the ball or player first but, having said that, even if it was a foul it does look to me as though the ref should have awarded a free kick just outside the area. Wasn''t Stefanovic''s foul at Soton just outside the area too ?
 13. Gosh, what an amusing thread. I''m laughing as I write this.
 14. You''re right Lincoln. Roeder''s gone, the honeymoon period for Gunn et al is over but speculation and uncertainty have been replaced by a feeling of unity and stability, as far as the majority are concerned anyway. The fight to avoid relegation starts in earnest now.

 16.

Obviously we are all willing for JC to start scoring the goals we know he''s capable of. I was at Donny the other week when he was denied by Sullivan (being generous) then he missed the 2 at Wolves. Now the question is does he miss these chances during training? if so I can''t believe that he would be picked if not what''s different? Is he trying to hard?  Maybe we need one of those sport mind mender type(sorry can''t spell phsycologist) to sort him out or maybe now he has a big man along side him the goals will start to flow (here''s hoping) Go get''em Jamie Or is he finished as a player?
Only with the small minded, ungrateful and nasty minded supporter think that. The others amongst us know he''ll come good.
Wiz, I admire your devotion to Jaime, but you have to accept that calling those of us who disagree with you as small minded, ungrateful and nasty minded betrays a lack of objectivity. I have nothing against him personally, but I do have a problem with his failure to execute his primary function of scoring goals. If you park your emotional attachment you must accept that a return of 1 goal in 18 appearances (and, yes, I know a significant number were as sub) is not that of a top class striker, or, indeed, of a mediocre one. Previously he was worth persevering with simply because we had few other options (although Lupoli could have been given more chance), but that argument no longer applies. We cannot afford to play a clearly out of form player, however popular, when we  are in such a tenuous position. Yes, if you play him week after week he will eventually score, just as an infinite number of monkeys with an infinite number of typewriters will eventually reproduce the works of Shakespeare, but we don''t have the luxury of time at present. We need results now. Finally I will posit a scenario that I put to another Jaime zealot on another thread. Let''s assume that for a period of weeks Marshall regularly fumbled to gift the opposition a goal which cost us points. would you say "Drop  him"(assuming we had a decent reserve keeper) or would you say "He''s bleeds yellow and green and he''ll come good".The other poster suddenly disappeared, but hopefully you will give me an answer.
I see you''re banging on again with your "bleeds green and yellow" sneers. I assume you are referring to me with your reference to "another Jamie zealot". I disappeared because I was bored with your one dimensional point of view, your inability to read and digest more than one point in my argument (which showed that I was far from being a blinkered and dogmatic supporter of JC)  and I had to go back to work. You have your opinion on Cureton and I have mine. Neither of us will change our minds but what I have never done is sneer and insult a player who is signed up to our club.   As for comparing JC''s goal scoring record with Earnshaw as other JC negs have done on this thread why stop there, why not use other Norwich strikers as benchmarks to try and demonstrate that Cureton is not effective ? Whether any of you JC critics are prepared to accept it or not, Cureton is a proven goalscorer at this level. Like Keane now back at Spurs, strikers play to different levels of effectiveness depending upon the team, tactics and manager they are playing under. It is clear that JC far from prospered under the Roeder regime but that does not mean that his ability to find the back of the net has deserted him. I assume that all Norwich supporters hope that under them much more paternal, benevolent regime of Gunn JC will find his scoring boots again. If you read my post in response to yours the other day I said that I regarded JC as a squad player which by definition meant that I did not regard his inclusion as a starter as automatic. I added that the best people to judge are not Pink Un Posters but the new management team that watches the players in training day in and day out. If Gunn chooses to play JC from the start or bring him on as a sub then I for one defer to Gunn/Butterworth''s better judgment. I''m off for the rest of the day now and tomorrow I shall be visiting friends. Back to work on Monday.
 17.

But he bleeds yellow and green [:^)]
Yeah, and isn''t that something to sneer about ! "Time and time again I have said on here that JC is a proven striker with the potential to score many goals for us alongside the right partners, within the right team structure and playing for a motivational manager who believes in him. My view is that Gunn has demonstrated obvious confidence in JC and the changes that have been recently made coupled to the type of players brought in and the fact that Cort (who I spoke highly of after the Reading match) is now being given an opportunity can only benefit Jamie and therefore all of us. I can''t believe that so many posters want to be so negative and critical of a permanent player at the club who so clearly wants to do well and whose confidence was so obviously undermined by the spite of the rat man." What is wrong with you people ? get behind the players, try and talk up the positives instead of being so quick to "slag off" all the time. God, you people make me sick...... sneering away at a player who wants to do well for the club.
You fail to understand that there is a difference between getting behind the team and being objective. Cureton is a non scoring striker, when we have alternatives available. Taking your logic to its full extent, if Marshall drops a ball on the opposition''s centre forward''s foot every game for 10 games, but "wants to do well", would you continue to play him if we had an equally good keeper on the bench? Passion is one thing, but the team is more important than any one player. Many of us have been around football for many years  and we are simply being objective. You, on the other hand, as betrayed by your use of language ("What is wrong with you people?", for example), are being motivated by emotion. I appreciate that you love Cureton, and I have nothing against him at all, other than the fact that I believe him to be a League One standard striker, as 1 goal in 18 appearances tends to suggest. We are a team on the edge of danger, not some sort of rehabilitation unit, so sadly hard decisons have to be made, regardless of how much players want to do well.
If you have inferred from what I have written that I am a blinkered supporter of JC simply because he is a loyal Norwich player then I am sorry but you have missed the point of what I have said and you have only seized upon the "bleeds green and yellow" issue which amuses so many posters on here. Cureton''s record speaks for itself. Golden boot award playing alongside Iwelumo only a couple of seasons ago, successful alongside Jason Roberts, the same alongside Akinbiyi all those years ago. Roeder didn''t give the player a chance, instead in effect he systematically eroded JC''s confidence. I supported the Gunn appointment at the time. Still early days of course but the feeling is growing that stability has returned to our club and we have a good managment team in place and one which believes in supporting and motivating players rather than criticising them all the time. One of Gunn''s first actions was to bring back JC and that suggests to me that Gunn sustains a good opinion of the player. He has also brought in Killen and Gow as well as showing confidence in Cort, a player who IMO can really benefit JC. I regard JC as a squad player and the new arrivals mean that he will have to fight for his place but within the context, finally, of a positive and motivational environment. Whether JC continues to be a starter or used as a sub remains to be seen but, after working with all their players in training, only Gunn, Butterworth and Crook have the ability to make the judgment call on selection matters. My view is that JC will thrive under the new regime, show continued improvement and make a positive contribution to the team in its effors to avoid the drop. To suggest that JC should be in "some sort of rehabilitation unit" is, frankly, a bit silly and uncalled for but then, I''m just a poster who has no allegiances on here so I am not playing to the veteran posters audience.

 20.
It''s very rare for any sacked manager to speak out about the club he has left. What would he have to gain? It would most likely sound like sour grapes, and earn a reputation for being a troublesome blabbermouth. If you were a potential employer would you want someone who had publicly slagged off their previous firm? It would have to make you hesitate. Dignified silence is always the best policy in these situations, with or without confidentiality clauses.   The same goes for players. The only two who have publicly expressed any criticism of Roeder are Huckerby and Cureton. It''s no coincidence that they are both approaching retirement, and even they have been very cautious in what they have said. Other players know that no club likes a loudmouth, and you never know what the future holds - paths could cross again.
What you say in your first para is quite right although there are exceptions and, in any case, it isn''t necessarily a question of "slagging off", ex-managers can make calm, constructive criticism without compromising their future employment prospects. However, this was not the issue I took exception to. Another poster responded to this thread saying "who gives a flying fig about what Roeder might say" and I responded saying, actually, I would........ even though it is unlikely that anything will be said.

 22.
Who gives a flying monkey finger about what Glenn would have to say anyway? He''s gone, Gunny''s in charge, let''s move on and support Gunny.
Yeah, let''s all get lives, get over it and move on. I got so sick of posters saying this whenever Huckerby posts started. "he''s gone, get over it, move on, blah blah". Just because some posters don''t want to carry on discussing a particular subject is no reason to tell them not to. If you''re not interested don''t read the thread. Simple as. And, actually, I for one would be interested to hear Roeder''s views now that he has left the club, what promises were made by the Board when he was appointed, what support he received during his tenure etc etc. Could be quite illuminating.
 23.
My recent redundancy (still unresolved) has an compromise agreement attached to it. What that basically means is, that if accept the terms and conditions of my rendancy I cannot say anything against the company. Perhaps Glenn had the same, still if I had the alleged £700000 I think I''d keep my gob shut too !   [;)]
Yes, confidentiality agreement in return for compensation covering remaining period of contract. This would have been part of the original Contract of Employment.

It''s all to do with that Wiz cult. [:S]
Of course it was a wind up. Blimey. I despise the so called fans who want Norwich to lose matches for whatever reason.
 25. Much as it goes against the grain to want the team I support to lose, reluctantly, I want to see a Southampton victory tonight to show the Celebrity Cook and her Cronies what a terrible mistake they made appointing Gunn as manager. The quicker they realise this and appoint an experienced manager the greater our chances of avoiding the drop. Good as he was making a great living out of being the Norwich PR Ambassador and Player Recruitment Thingee, as a Manager Gunn can only fire blanks. Just you wait and see. I will be proved right.
