  1. There's every chance he has, yes. Not so much with the reading. There's been a few trolling Ipswich fans on this forum recently. But your comments have been very measured and reasonable. I for one have appreciated them.
  2. If they couldn't moan about VAR, they'd have to do some actual research into the teams' tactics etc. Really eat in to time on the golf course
  3. Does seem really weird that a lot of people decided he was no good right from the start. Of course, he might not turn out to be a good signing for us, but South Korea are a serious international football team and he gets decent minutes for them. I get that he probably wasn't the perfect hit-the-ground-running replacement for Sargent, but maybe he'll turn out to be a decent option for Barnes's position, which given Barnes's age would not be a bad thing.
  4. Derogatory term for a Chinese person. The perils of automatic, context-free moderation.
  5. A great, inventive player from the days when Man City was an actual football club. RIP
  6. Barry Davies' commentary in that moment was just so great - you can hear the frustration and disappointment in his voice. "Oh ... that's a penalty." In the pause you can just tell he's trying to find a reason to take issue with the decision, but he just can't.
  7. My memories of Newman are that everyone thought he was a bit sh1t. But he has more PL appearances for NCFC than almost anyone else, iirc, and given that team was basically our best ever, logically that means he's one of our best ever players...
  8. I know we've talked about this before, but it still rankles with me. Our inexperience of European competition really showed in that moment - such a missed opportunity. 0-0 at home, given how good that team was on the counter, would have been such a good result, but we thought we needed a win. Still frustrated 30 years later!
  9. Once more with feeling. So much of football refereeing is about the judgment of the referee, rather than applying a black-and-white law. VAR just swaps the judgment of the on-field ref for the judgment of the guy in the van. It's never going to lead to perfect decision-making, because that can't exist in football. Let the on-field ref decide. Suck up the mistakes and get on with it. It's still just a game.
  10. This might sound a bit weird, but that shot that Idah put just past the post in the first half gave me greater confidence in him than any of the goals he's scored this season. Took the ball really well, moved it really decisively and hit the shot with great power. Looked like a player with much more confidence in that moment. Wish he was better in the air, though. Should have done so much better with that header.
  11. Cheers, appreciate that. Certainly I like the idea of Gabby further forward to affect the game more. He's our obvious weapon and it seems to me we should be setting up the team to make him as effective as possible. Whether that's bringing in Forshaw or tweaking the tactics doesn't bother me especially.
  12. Couldn't watch today, so can you answer a question for me - given that Forshaw didn't come on till after we were 2-0 up, how did we alter things to get Sara further forward before that - was it just a case of the Mayor sitting deeper and Gabby being the one to go forward?
  13. Funny to think that for all their swaggering on here this week, and all our misery, we're just a couple of wins behind them. Really shows the different expectations and achievements of the two clubs over the last 20 years.
  14. Well done Luton - great to see. And just hilarious to see Man Utd such a basket case.
  15. Agent Williams got confused and scored in the wrong end.
  16. Going to be the only one, but I'm not too unhappy with that selection. Given those who played at Plymouth the opportunity to take responsibility and prove it was a bad day at the office. It's a show of faith from the coach - up to the players to respond. Said above I think this is a really big game. A comfortable win and it's easier to see Rotherham and Plymouth as poor performances in the midst of a decent start to the season. (A reminder that we played ok against Leicester, who will beat most teams this season). But another defeat/no-show today and it begins to look like a crisis. Presumably it'll be a draw and no one will know where we stand...
  17. Possibly the only examples of a programme losing value by being autographed
  18. Batth should be a sub so that at some point DW can give him a tap on the shoulder.
  19. Is that a good joke? Well, it's a little bit funny.
  20. Salmon en croute, Nuff Said, salmon en croute.
