  1. And breathe..... Kept a clean sheet, and against a team that hadn't been kept out since January. Along Come Norwich in the positive sense of the word. EDIT: Now if Leicester and Watford can win their games, that should help us massively.
  2. This is it, I don't think Tzolis suits a pressing game, and he's not exactly a nippy runner either (unlike Sainz). He's one of those cultured inside wingers who can pick a pass, can look dangerous creeping into space to get shots off and he can shoot. If anything, he's a far slower, less explosive version of Rowe. Onel suits Wagner's approach more due to his pace and ability to press, even though Tzolis has demonstrated a lot of end product on loan this season. Personally I'd like to see Tzolis get another crack, but I can see and understand the argument that he's looking good in a slightly less physical, combative league - although the 2. Bundesliga is quite similar to the Championship in terms of its ability to chuck up surprising results and is usually very hard-fought. Said before, there's definitely a player in Tzolis, but I'm just not sure how he fits.
  3. This is actually why I've a lot of respect for vegans even though I like the taste of meat far too much to change over to their lifestyle - they're ultimately pretty consistent. Although some sorts are spamming the FB pages of anything on the Faroe Islands re. the grindadrap. I admit, watching the bay turn red with blood isn't exactly endearing but then again, how is most of the meat on my supermarket shelf produced? Even when you talk about free-range eggs/grass-fed cattle, I'm seriously hard-pushed to think of anything more free-range than a bloody whale! The stronger argument against whale hunting, at least for me personally, is the high level of heavy metals such as cadmium in the meat.
  4. Barnes should really try and wind up Morsy.
  5. Lack of investment again. Not enough suitably qualified staff to handle asylum claims, not enough investment in humane enough facilities to house them, not enough investment in collaboration with other countries. Been a problem for a long time, this is just where it's coming to a head.
  6. All you need to know about modern pop music is that Brittney Spears went huge whilst Lene Marlin was practically a one-hit wonder. (And for what it's worth, even at its most atavistic, I think Marlin was the more attractive as well as the better musician/songwriter).
  7. Precisely. He and the extremists like Smotrich are the bigger problem of the two. By all means get the Hamas powers that be in the Hague, but he should be in there alongside them. It's obvious what he's after. He wants all of Palestine, but rather than annex it outright, which would justifiably be met with uproar, he's doing it bit-by-bit. Feel sorry for most normal citizens of both countries. Plenty of Israelis going on the protests again though, so let's hope they succeed.
  8. Without putting too much thought into the bit in bold (as someone who's never had a mortgage I can't speak from experience), couldn't a bank minimise their exposure by suggesting that if the mortgage is far lower than the proven rent, that new buyers pay at the same rent level for a few months to a year to build up a cushion, then go back to a lower monthly instalment if they want more security?
  9. As a Halifax customer, I'll say this if mortgages are similar to loans - it is very possible that rates offered vary radically. I was looking at taking a loan out for some home improvements and they said, based on income/loan situation that they could loan me up to £25K. That was far more than I wanted, and I checked it several times over a month. Got a good mate in to price up some work which came to £12K. Checked out the loan repayments and was happy with the instalments. Then all I did was move £15K of cash into a cash ISA to tie it in for a year. Logged back in, the most they could lend me was £7K. Couldn't do the works after that. Had to do plan B (just renovate the kitchen instead of gutting the kitchen and bathroom, and did a few smaller jobs as well). In other words, don't assume that deals are always that readily available.
  10. To be fair I was mainly answering the question of whether the music makes people uncomfortable even now. But in this case I don't see a problem - Jackson's hardly going to benefit from it as he's snuffed it so it's not as if he's gaining anything from his notoriety. It doesn't alter the fact that he was a bloody popular musician and I'm sure people would want to remember the good stuff he did. Frankly, as long as his misdeeds are noted, I don't remotely see an issue with this.
  11. I think it's possible to accept that the man may be very deeply flawed but make good or at least popular music. Knut Hamsun may be one of Norway's best ever authors after Ibsen, but he was one heck of a Quisling sympathiser and to say the Norwegians are bloody ambivalent at best is putting it mildly. Hitler's little helper | Knut Hamsun | The Guardian Heck, there were rumours a-plenty about Lewis Carroll, but he probably still ranks as a children's author of the first rank here too.
  12. Seeing something Indian is a reminder to pull up this piece of classic YouTube internet comedy history. For those who haven't seen it, the subtitles are not a translation, they're what the "translator" actually thinks the song is in English going off the sounds of the words in the language in question. EDIT: Also fitting, as Chennai is the capital of Tamil Nadu, and the language here is Tamil.
  13. I have been known to say that "maybe you should try a refreshing bottle of Domestos"?
  14. Makes you wonder about our medical/physio/coaching team. Heck, Lungi's got another problem that smells of a hammie issue. Wouldn't mind knowing how many hamstring injuries we've got relative to other Championship teams - I accept that overuse injuries crop up a lot, but crikey, we ping a lot of hammies.
  15. Agent Byram steps forward. How the heck has Farke got most of a season out of him?
  16. Speaking of subs that change games, why did Martin not take off Bednarek...who's clearly carrying a knock?
  17. Southampton need to keep this Ipswich side running. Run their legs off and tire them out so they don't recover so well for the derby. Gonna say this: the ball behind Davis is the one that'll get us some joy.
  18. Can't really agree with that top bit, and the stats bear it out, at least in terms of getting on the housing ladder. They might have the odd luxury simply as houses are out of their price range. To put it in perspective, the average house nowadays costs close to nine times the average annual salary. The last time that was so high relative to annual salary was back in the late 1800s, according to a report from Schroders. What 175 years of data tell us about house price affordability in the UK (schroders.com) I do agree that the lack of social housing is a problem and you've nailed the middle bit - nowhere near enough houses were built after they were sold, and also agree that there's an odd quandary in that rent is often more than a mortgage repayment, but it's harder to get one. Not so sure what the solution is there. Basically I reckon that if houses were much more affordable you'd see more of the behaviour you exhibited as then getting going on the property ladder would be more attainable.
  19. Got to keep them out for the rest of this half, get their crowd stewing on being behind.
  20. Noticed we're more dangerous from set-pieces under Wagner than we ever were under Farke?
