The thing is when you play in a poor team, you can get dragged down to that level and especially in the position that Skipp plays in. Tottenham were so negative and poor last season and he played alongside another defensive midfielder. Skipp is easily a top half premier league player, you just need a good balance of creativity around him. I really hope he doesn’t go to Leeds as he will vastly improve them and massively increase their chances of a top 2 finish.

Believe they are paying £20m for Fred now, Gala are splashing the cash elsewhere but are playing hardball when it comes to the Rashica deal.

We 100% need a CDM, if people at the club believe we don’t then we are in for another long season. If we could get another CDM with anywhere near the impact that Skipp had for us then we could be talking about a very different season, it’s that important. We haven’t really pressed high all pre-season so it’s going to be interesting to see how we play when the season starts.

Farke, Smith and Wagner have all failed to use him in his preferred position so that would indicate he’s probably not good enough or not showing enough in training. I do like Sorensen as he’s obviously versatile enough to fill in at full back and does have the odd effective game in midfield but it’s too few and far between. Good to have around the squad but we seriously need an upgrade. I do really hope so but it is all rather quiet about the most important piece of the jigsaw. That is not the most productive way to go about your business when you don’t have much money to play around with though. As soon as we sell players, teams will know that and want more for their players. We have to try and sign before we sell, by all means agree the sale behind closed doors but get our deals done first.

I know it’s been talked about a lot recently. My biggest concern for next season is the lack of talk from anyone around the club about the glaring need to fill the massive void in midfield. We are clearing lacking that defensive midfielder that we’ve had in the past, it was so obvious last season. Get that player/position right and it could be an another great season for us as it’s such a vital position. We can’t seriously be considering going into this season with just Sorensen as a recognised defensive midfielder, there’s a reason why he’s been here for a few years now and not nailed down that position as his own, because he’s not good enough. I’m hoping that this is a transfer we are keeping quiet and that’s why Paddy and Southwell etc are not privy to having knowledge about. I don’t know if that’s wishful thinking or not. How many more players do you think we need if we sell Aarons, Rashica and Omo? I would go with 4 more CB, DM, AM and another winger.

Maybe look at someone like Aasmund Bjørkan who was at Bodø/Glimt. Has a great working relationship with Knutsen from their time there, also is the father to Fredrik Bjørkan who is the left back we were linked with about a year ago.

One of Pukki’s best friends in football Robin Lod plays for Minnesota and he’s Finnish.

IF we did sell Nunez (which I don’t want us to) we should be looking at someone like Matias Esquivel from Lanus. Very good little player and we should sign him even if Nunez doesn’t go.

He’s at Vitesse and he’s out of contract this summer but they do have an option of a further year but he hasn’t played much this year for them so remains to be seen if they activate that.

Would like to see Mitchell Dijks brought back to club if we can sell Giannoulis. He was good going forward, great in the air and he could also defend.

I don’t think Hanley is quiet, I quite often hear him speaking on the pitch and giving encouragement?! So you’re blaming just Hanley for the Sunderland goal now? This is exactly what I’m on about. What about Gibson not being close enough to his player and what about Gunn’s positioning, he should not have been so far over the other side of his goal leaving himself no chance of getting back.

Who would you play at the heart of our defence then?

Fail to see why Hanley is getting blamed for the goal. It was Sara who gave the ball away far too cheaply in a dangerous position. Wish people would stop using our BEST centre half as a scapegoat, getting ridiculous now. We all know Hanley is not the best with the ball at his feet, but what he lacks in distribution he more than makes up in bravery, know how, positioning, getting in his head on everything and leadership.

Yeah but that’s under Smith, nearly all of our players looked rubbish at the start of the season. I generally believe he would flourish under Wagner’s tactics.

Is this a serious question? People need to realise that you win and lose a game in midfield. Just how bad does Liverpool’s defence look now because they have lost Wijnaldum and coupled with the fact that their midfield is past it and out of form. Van Dijk and Matip have not turned into awful players other night and that they should be selling them now if a decent offer comes in. Dimi, Gibson and Hanley were brilliant in the 20/21 season because they had a certain Oli Skipp protecting them. Wouldn’t matter who we have at the back with no protection. Sort our midfield out by getting a capable DM in and our defence will perform better.
