1.

If Lambert has got any sense he won''t ever come out and say he doesn''t want any job. After all he could be glad of the chance if everything goes wrong and a few hundred fans march from the swimming pool demanding he''s sacked. Football is fickle and us fans are as fickle as anyone. Never burn your bridges in case you need them later[;)]
Fair point Nutty but if you really don''t want a particular job you shoud have the courage of your convictions to say so. A few weeks back PL was scathing in his comments on managing in Scottish football and the poor quality, lack of competition etc. If that really is his belief then why not confirm that today? Truth is he has not done so and is now buttering up the prospective new employer saying how wonderful everything is up there. Same time he is following the usual line all potential managers take of ....''it''s just speculation'', ''loving it here'' etc.etc. Yes - we all know that PL will leave one day but I had hoped to get a few seasons out of him. Now I fear we might not. Whilst he may not be Celtic''s No 1 choice (arguably) fact is that Mowbray cetainly wasn''t either! Don''t be at all surprised if PL (and Celtic) wait until the end of the season when the guy slips quietly away at a time when neither the fans nor players will be around to persuade him otherwise. IF that happens, I (for one) will lose a lot of respect for him simply due to the very clear and seemingly definitive comments he made just a few weeks back.  Sure I will thank him for the great season we have had but it could all leave a bitter taste in the mouth. Never mind, Col U fans would have something to laugh about I suppose, never mind they can keep plodding along in Div. Three! The one saving grace I suppose would be that with McNally in charge we would just go straight out and get someone rather than carry out the usual public charade of god knows how many rounds of inteviews, psychometric tests, expert input and shortlists etc!!
Spot on yellow rider, Scottish football is just as crap now as it was a couple of weeks ago and if he is interested in the Celtic job it would mean he was talking a load of bull and Col U fans were right about him all along. If he does go there after what he said I''ll lose every bit of respect I''ve built up for him over the last few months. He really should be coming out and saying he is not interested in the Celtic job under any circumstances after his statement a couple of weeks ago.
 2. I know football people are notorious for saying one thing and doing the opposite but Lambert came out a couple of weeks ago and said he wasn''t interested in the Celtic job and gave a very good reason, because of what he said then he shouldn''t even be mentioned as a serious contender for the job imo. As usual when anything like this happens the media almost trys to talk it up, even the edp have to drag it out by saying that us City fans can rest easy but only until the summer. The guy has said that he''s not interested and it would be nice if the local media at least stopped printing rubbish we don''t want to hear and trust that Lambert is true to his word.
 3. Draw would be the best result for us.
 4. Three wins and a draw should be enough, ten more points would mean our rivals would need to win eight of their last nine or ten games to overtake us and I can''t see anyone doing that well. I can see us winning at least 5 of our last nine anyway so it doesn''t matter what they do.
 5. Lap of honour after the final game so the players can get some well deserved adulation from the fans is enough for me, for a club like us to be promoted from the third division is certainly not worthy of an open top bus tour and a civic reception at City Hall imo. The players and Lambert deserve immense credit for their achievements but I can''t get too excited about getting promoted back to a division we should have never dropped out of in the first place.
 6.

Kdncfc - they were mainly saying they could either reduce the netting which segregates fans, though this was only a suggestion and also put in seats in areas where there are areas of empty concrete at present, this won''t results in hundreds of seats, McNally confessed that. At least they are trying to think of ways to get a few more fans in. The front of the hotel I am not too sure about. There are safety issues (space for an emergency vehicle to enter the stadium should it be needed etc).
Cheers gazza, as I suspected the only way to gain any significant extra capacity is to increase the size of the City stand.  Was talking to someone who works for the club the other day and apparently the City stand would be extended to a large single tier stand with the executive facilities at the back rather than just having another tier plonked on top. Hopefully we''ll get someone with money coming in so it gets done sooner rather than later.
McNally made it pretty clear that this would not happen until we were a few seasons in the prem. He said the industry standard price for a stand is £2500 per seat, so for it to self finance you would have to fill every seat in the new stand every game for 10 years.
As things stand at the moment it will be a few years but if a new owner with plenty of cash takes over I''d say it could happen sooner rather than later.

 8.
I have to say it was a lot different to the ones from the last years and thankfully so! What CA, Morty and the old forum campaigners are probably searching for is the old confrontation with Doncaster and marvelling at how Munby could drone on for hours about absolutely nothing. Now it''s much more businesslike and the compere (didn''t catch the name) was hilarous and well worth his own TV show. If he''s unaware of his comedy value it would make it even funnier. There were a couple of halfway awkward questions, right at the end one about the Turners which again went unanswered to any satisfactory conclusion (I imagine on legal grounds the club are unable to answer) and McNally looked very uncomfortable when asked about improving/lengthening Lambert''s contract. However it was interesting to learn of ways to increase seating without building another stand/add onto the City Stand. I also can''t believe someone complained about paying £2 to attend. For the compere alone I would have paid a fiver!! Overall I felt the board looked relieved not to be facing the usual throng and looked united. However as much as they congratulate themselves on being the best football club in the world etc, etc, all I could think of as we sat surrounded by large photos of our past (greater glories than walking the third division) was how did it ever get to this? It is refreshing and reassuring to have someone like McNally at the helm and a great manager in Lambert, but the rest of them still don''t inspire me one bit. Next year (we hope) at a decent level will be more of a test both on and off the field.
What other ways did they come up with on increasing the capacity without major rebuilding work gazza? I can only think of putting a temporary stand in front of the hotel or kicking the managers out of the dugouts and making them sit on the perimeter track so fans can sit in the dugouts lol. There was obviously still no hint of any possible investment which is a bit disappointing, I was rather hoping something would be lined up in the summer.
 9.

Swindon could make 6 points up on us with a win tonight and again on Saturday, cutting our lead over 3rd to 9 points. Southampton at least stopping them winning tonight is a must!
BUGGER!!
Mathematically Swindon can catch us but even if they manage to get within 9 points of us after Saturdays game that is still a lot of points to make up with just 9 games to go. Even if we only managed to get 10 points from our last 9 games it would leave them needing to win 7 of their last 9 to overtake us and I don''t see it happening.
 10.
lol how would the thermal vest go down?
Thermal vests should be outlawed to be replaced with a nice low cut thermal bra lol.
Ah, so you''ve met the ''Watford Gaps''......
Lol

 14.
I went on the first ever Club Canary trip to Rotherham in August 1981. We had just been relegated and the Board had introduced Club Canary as a way of boosting our away support and improving away performances. (For example - we won away at West Ham in August 1977 and didn''t win away again until Everton in August 1979.  I remember this 2 year period very well - I went to every away game during that time.) Anyway, Club Cabbage didn''t start well.  We went 1-0 up at Rotherham but went on to lose 4-1. At least the season ended well - CC ran 2 trains to Sheffield for the last game to see us get promoted.  Unfortunately, they didn''t take account of the fact that we would be in the ground celebrating and the first train came back virtually empty.
I went to that game on the cabbage coaches, Greg Shepherd scored early on if I remember rightly.

 17.
Now whatever are you doing on this thread Bly? I guess like threads about the games and player performances, formations, substitutions or even matchday pies you are just a window licker only on the outside looking in[:P] My seat is usually located on Bus 3 when I can go, which at the moment is about 10/12 games a season because I can rarely make Saturday away games. As for having seats reserved, well I think that''s confused with regulars travelling with the people they normally travel with. Just because they go every game do they lose the right to travel with their mates? I wonder how the fairweather fans would like being told they couldn''t sit with their mates. I have met loads of good people on cabbage. I''ve never had a problem with the regulars how ever often I have been able to go. It can''t be that bad because lots of younger fans seem to get on with us oldies ok. kdncfc, I reckon you''re talking about Simon Roy! Anyone who has regularly travelled on cabbage will have come across him at some point. I remember him when I was just a kid waiting outside Carrow Road for autographs and he always had his radio to his ear even then! He is the son of Dr Roy who used to be headmaster at Hewett School many years ago. Simon is one of the real eccentric characters who follow our club. And you''re right, he is difficult to get away from when he talks to you. (Just ask Gazzathegreat!!) But Simon never forgets a name. If you tell him your name just once he will always remember it. My favourite "Simon Story" is when I ran into him at halftime during the Play Off Final. I said something like "Do you think we will win Simon?" But Simon spent the next 5 minutes explaining to me that "Eddie, if the roof hadn''t been closed the sun would have been in someone''s eyes and spoiled the game for them" [H][:S] I heard Simon had been unwell and I haven''t seen him this season. I hope he''s ok. You may well be right Nutty, from what I remember he was a well spoken guy who would probably be between 55 and 65 years old now.  I think I may well have seen him in the lower Barclay within the last couple of years but wasn''t 100% sure it was him because he was several rows in front of me, hope he''s ok and will be back cheering on the yellas soon.
18.
Sheffield Wednesday a couple of seasons ago. The coach we were on was struggling not long after leaving Carrow Road. Somehow managed to make it to Hillsborough. Crushing defeat followed and the dreaded journey home. The coach finally gave up in the middle of a busy roundabout half way back so most of the coach had to get off and push the coach into the nearby services (which were closed) singing Y''Army. Fortunately a coach behind us pulled up and me and my daughter managed to jump on so only had to wait there 5 minuts. no idea how long the other poor lot had to wait. Not used it again since.
I have travelled on cabbage many times in the past especially in the early eighties, went to the Brighton cup game in 83 on the special train which wasn''t too bad. Have also been to a few on the coach and there are far to many train spotter types on there for my liking, the worst part for me is when they stop at the services because it then becomes obvious why it is known as club cabbage as everyone gets off the coach. Incidentally there used to be a guy on there who always has his radio up to his ear who seemed to be on every trip I went on, he started talking to me once and I couldn''t get away from him. Think his name may have been Simon, is he still around?
 19. Twelve points should be more than enough, in fact with the poor form the others are in it''s possible that 3 wins could be enough.
 20. If we win 4 games Charlton would have to win 8 and draw one which ain''t gonna happen.
 21. If we get 12 more points from our remaining games Charlton need to win 8 and draw 1 of their remaining 10 and it ain''t gonna happen.
 22. 23. Has to be one of the worst players ability wise to play for us, bags of passion but I don''t think I can remember a player putting so many simple passes into the crowd. We should try and make things as hostile as possible for every Leeds player and if that means booing every Leeds player including hoofer Hughes then so be it, if this game was at their place they would give our players stick so we should return the compliment.
 24. If we get 5 wins from our remaining games we will be promoted. 6 wins and we will go up as champions. A minimum of 3 points from the next 3 games will leave us needing to win half of our remaining games to get promoted. we still have some very winnable home games left and would have to embark on a pretty poor run of form to miss out on auto promotion.
