West Ham predictions
Hansterbubble replied to Midlands Yellow's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
I agree that BTTS looks a good bet and I think we might cause a small surprise, ride out some pressure with Buendia scoring late for a 1-2 win. -
Huge thanks to you all for the excellent suggestions. There were so many good ones that itβs been impossible to whittle them down, so Nutty I have sent you an extra tenner via PayPal so that I can have a domestic six and an overseas six. For the domestic six Iβve picked: Manchester City v Brighton Chelsea v Sheffield Utd Burnley v Liverpool Ipswich v Shrewsbury Southampton v Manchester Utd Spennymore v Chester Spennymore v Chester is also my pick for this week. For the overseas six Iβve picked: Sporting Lisbon v Rio Avenue Bayern Munich v Mainz 05 POAK Salonika v Panionios Union Berlin v Borrusia Dortmund Debreceni v Kaposvari Reipas v Sudet Hope that all makes sense and good luck to everyone with their picks πππ€ For the Norwich game I will go for a Norwich win and BTTS. Good luck dj11 with your selections ππͺ

Travel last night to Crawley
Hansterbubble replied to Well b back's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Blimey, I know that area well from cycling, thatβs a pretty rural route for a coach! I live and work in south London so had an easy journey in from work, but Southern Trains had cancellations and delays which might have inconvenienced a few on the way back into London. I thought the goal was very much against the run of play and whilst it wasnβt great defending it was a bit unlucky. We had the entire outfield 10 in the penalty box for corners and set pieces which made it crowded and probably didnβt help. I very much agree with the view that at times we overplayed it and a couple of times I thought we would slip Idah in with a good ball that unfortunately never come. The team did look a bit out of synch, which I guess is one of the drawbacks of playing a very changed team, although I do think it was the right approach for this game. Overall it was a bit disappointing, especially given how many had travelled on a weekday evening, but a point or maybe three on Saturday will put the smiles back in place ππ -
I think I am going to play it a bit safe this week and go for a home win for Manchester United v Crystal Palace. Palace looked poor last weekend and I think Man Utd will see this as an opportunity to get things going. For our bet I think it will be a tough game but I think we will come out on top, 1-0. Good luck Lincsy, ZLF and to all the other PUPS.

Vital areas not improved?
Hansterbubble replied to yellowrider120's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
One point that I donβt think has been mentioned is that not only has the club invested in our young talent by sticking with them and giving them a well deserved chance in the Premier League, but they have all signed long term contracts and are clearly invested in the club. There was lots of speculation about possible moves, but they all decided to stay and continue on this journey. Having committed players, who want to be there, know the set up and will give everything for the club is going to be really valuable. Iβm not sure whether Villa will get the same from their new players? -
This is exactly what I think. Opening games can be a bit random and Liverpool had a tough end to their season and we have some momentum. Plus I had a strange dream just before the fixtures came out that our opening game was at Anfield and we won 2-0. Maybe wishful thinking, but Iβve put a couple of quid on it just in case. ππ

So here we go with our final pick of the season. Itβs been huge fun and Iβd also like to say a massive thank you to Nutty for making this all happen and to all the pups for their support and good cheer, especially when those banker games go against us π‘. It seems quite a classy move to give our anonymous sponsors the final pick so for what itβs worth my selections are WOLVES to beat Fulham and for us I think Villa will be tricky but I have a strong feeling it will be 1-1 and that we will be Champions πͺπ€π.

Promotion betting odds back in August
Hansterbubble replied to CANARYKING's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
In answer to the OP, I had a little pre-season flutter. I got 7/1 on 29 July from Bet365 on Norwich being promoted. Placed Β£5 and currently sitting at Β£39.61 although Iβve no intention of cashing out. No idea if there were better odds at the time I just fancied we might have a good season and be a good outside bet for promotion. I canβt recall what the odds were for us winning it, but I clearly not long enough to tempt me in with a cheeky Β£1 π¬. Rather like Kathyβs double though, wish I had thought of that ππ. -
Agreed Coney, nothing is guaranteed. For me those statistics help rationalise away the fear. Blackburn have won their last 4 so Iβm not taking anything for granted, but that was against Derby, Forest, QPR and Bolton. I think we will be a stiffer test and on past performances I think we will win. I canβt guarantee it though and we may end up having a late Pukki strike or Vrancic free kick to grab a point!
-
Indeed it can. We are all heavily invested and feeling it, just coping in our different ways I guess.
-
All logic and reason says we will go up. Bet365 are currently offering me odds of 1/1000 on us being promoted and my early season bet of Β£5 at 7/1 on promotion is currently sitting at Β£39.61 so only 39p short of a full pay out. I am not celebrating yet or cashing out as the job isnβt quite done. But as I say, I do feel confident that we will get the point that we need. Weβve been rolling along at an average of 2 points per game for a while so why not a win on Saturday and a draw with Villa? Thatβs seems much more likely to me than some freaky sets of results. I do understand the feelings that people are going through though, being so close and having to wait is awful and allows that fear of something weird happening to grow. Fortunately my rational side is stronger than my emotional side and I can convince myself it will be fine. ππ It will be, Iβm just keeping the champagne on ice till itβs done.

Goodness me those are BIG pants π³ Iβm not sure using massive y-fronts as a napkin is such a good idea or did the waiter demand he give over his trousers as surety against a hefty bill?
-
I think it is an entirely rational strategy. In effect you are taking out a financial hedge against your potential emotional losses. That said I almost never do it, that is bet on our opposition, but like Feedthewolf I do put our rivals in my accas sometimes. At the moment I keep betting on us to win and that seems to be going pretty well so far! πππ€

Apologies for missing last week. Iβm staying away from the International games and instead think MK DONS will be too strong for an out of form Yeovil Town. I am very bad at picking BTTS but Peterborough Utd V Southend Utd looks decent to me. Good luck everyone!
